About this listing
A fun cabin on a horse sanctuary. My horses range in age from 4 to 32. Some have been rescued from abusive situations. Some have worked hard in therapy programs and are retired now. All are very loving. I am an artist and a compassionate horse lover.
Art Studio/Cabin on a horse sanctuary. A very cozy 500 Square foot space with full bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room/dining room. Equipped with washer/dryer, shower and tub, and wi-fi. This cabin will accommodate 4 people, depending on sleeping arrangements. Original artwork hangs throughout the cabin. It is situated on horse property where senior horses roam the pasture. Lots of old trees on the property with a great view of the San Juans and Cimarron mountains. Chimney Peak and Courthouse Square clearly visible. Quiet area within walking distance to town. Or you may have use of the bicycle.
Cabin is very near the main house and within a few hundred feet of the stables and pasture. You can drive right up to the front door. Picnic tables are available with the Cottonwood Creek running by. Original artwork and western memorabilia decorate the cabin. Sofa bed in living room pulls out to a full size bed.
They can see the horses, but only with me. No wandering about.
Interaction with Guests
If the guests want interaction, I am available. I love to interact with the guests. But sometimes, they want their privacy...and I respect that.
This is a very quiet piece of property where deer roam free and several feral cats. Sometimes I have my horses walking around so I appreciate your quietly coming up the driveway with your car. There is NO SMOKING on the property and generally NO DRINKING. A nice glass of wine is okay. No parties. Definitely NO PETS....
Alice is a great Airbnb hostess - the cabin and its location are great. I'll be back!
We had a wonderful stay at Alice's cabin. We arrived just as it was getting dark and Alice immediately helped us feel at home. The location on the edge of town was so quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views of the stars and a very relaxing and easy walk into town. The cabin itself was incredibly charming and is clearly a labor of love, full of personality and beautiful artwork. A great selection of books was an added bonus for us.
We'll be back!
Alice was very accommodating, friendly and quick to respond. The cabin was a perfect place for some rest after a big week of exploring the San Juans. Just as described on Airbnb. Great location in Ridgway, just a few blocks from restaurants and bars. We'll definitely be staying there the next time we're traveling through Southwest Colorado.
Alice was (email hidden)ry warm and welcoming. The cabin was perfect for us....great art work on the walls, very comfortable and cozy and the horses close by, we couldn't ask for more.
Staying in the cabin that Alice provided was such a pleasure! Alice is so very nice and welcoming, we wanted for nothing while we were there and can't wait to go back!! She had local places to eat and activities all laid out for us if we wanted to look over them.
The cabin is exactly as described. It was comfortable, yet rustic. It has a cool vibe and is very quiet. Nice views of the sun coming up over the Cimmarons from just outside the cabin in the morning. The cabin is close to Alice's house, but we never felt like it was too close or that we didn't have privacy. There was one Mule Deer buck who seemed a little nosy. He had a morning snack just a few feet from the window and rubbed his velvet rack on some small trees (which was awesome). I could see the stars through the skylight the one night that it was clear, which was a nice touch.
We did not spend a ton of time at the cabin (too much to do in the area!) or with Alice but she was very nice and helpful in our brief interactions. I would recommend the cabin to anyone who isn't a total wuss about bugs. There were some bugs but hey were of a harmless variety as far as I could tell.
The town of Ridgway is cool little town and is in a great location to check out Ouray and Telluride. The fishing in the Uncompaghre river is really good just 10 minutes north at the Ridgway State Park. Overall, we really anjoyed our time at the cabin and in Ridgway!
We loved our stay at Alice's. The horse ranch was so peaceful, quiet, and the stars were so bright. The cabin was the description to the T. It was very comfortable cool from the heat outside and warm from the rain we had. More than enough room to park our trailer and easy to pull in and out. When you have a trailer you learn to appreciate the easy in and out. Alice was one of the most friendly host I've met in a long time. She is known everywhere by everyone and they spoke of her highly of her. We loved her and came to know her well.
About the Host, Alice
I am in my late 60s and am a horsewoman. I run a horse sanctuary....so I don't get to travel much myself. I am a quiet person and would like guests who are respectful of the equines on this property. I am also an artist and this property lends itself to a guest staying not only for a weekend, but also for a month to write, paint or play music. This sanctuary has alot of creative energy.
