Luca is a wonderful host. His home is beautiful with a stunning view of the Tuscan landscape. Cortona center is very close by.

The location and the view are magnificent, but we had multiple little issues that made our stay at Luca's apartment a little stressful. First of all we had some trouble finding the house and Luca, the host, was not there to show us around; instead, we had to find a lady who lives downstairs to open the apartment for us. The main house has only 2 bedrooms (one much smaller than the other), while the other rooms pictured are located in the separate garden shed type studios and would be too hot to stay in during the Summer months. There were no trash/recycling bags or bins provided and no instructions on separating or handling the trash. The hot water would only last for 2 moderate or 3 quick showers and then you'd have to wait for about half an hour for the hot water to reappear. The refrigerator provided is a mini-fridge that requires a talented tetris player to manage. The walkway leading up to the house winds through a beautiful garden, but is completely unilluminated at night and requires a flashlight to navigate back to the house. The only flashlight that was provided had dead batteries in it. Mosquitoes are a problem at night and there is only one electric mosquito repellent plug for the entire house we had to swap between 2 bedrooms. Halfway through our stay we ran out of toilet paper and fresh towels, had to ask for some via text message and got them only will into the next day. The is no washing machine and while we had Luca offer us to leave our laundry bags outside for him to pick them up, they stayed outside for 2 days untouched. We started to wash our laundry in the bathroom sink in the end. Finally we have not met Luca, our host. While he was very prompt in communicating prior to our visit, we had hard time getting him to reply to our texts during our stay and has not heard from him after we have left. Overall while one has to give credit to the beautiful location wich is evident from the images in the description, we felt that the service was lacking during our stay and that we've paid too much for the type of accommodations that were provided.

Response from Luca:
Dear Polinka, we are truly sorry that you haven’t had a pleasant stay in our family house. It’s an ancient house in the historical center of Cortona and it has an address so it should be quite easy to find and since now, no help has been required. The lady who was there to welcome you is the owner of the house, and as far as I know, has always been available for any kind of request. The main house is completely independent and it consists of a big living room with a kitchen and a fire place, two big bedrooms one of which has a bathroom of it’s own, a second bathroom for a total of more than 80mq. Next to the main house there are three independent outbuildings provided with kitchen and fridge. I have deliberately decided not to install air conditioning in respect of the environment, you just need to open the windows during the cooler hours and the house naturally maintains a pleasant temperature as the whole building is located at 500 meters of altitude. Garbage is collected every day by the gardener, you just need to leave it outside the front door. The house is also provided of a big boiler so that hot water is always available, If it didn’t work properly I’ll surely take care of the problem. I’m also sorry for the day of delay in having your beds done but your request has arrived on the same day we provided the service. There is also a laundry service, but it takes a day to for the laundry to be washed and dried as it gets hung out. Thanks to your suggestions, I have taken care of the lightning of the path. Best regards, Luca and Rosanna Simonetti.

The view was everything we wanted and more. We were greeted by the lovely Angela who helped us with our wine tour. Luca was out of town, but did stop by when he got back. It would have been great to take up his lovely offers. Bottom line...I hope to go back. I loved it. It was a destination in itself. The people of Cortona are lovely. It is built on a hillside, so the walk up was challenging. (Def take a taxi from train station to piazza nearby the outside walls) Loved the view and the church bells. Goes great with Syrah from Cortona. It was clean, beds were comfy, showers were good and heat worked when we needed it. Also sitting the table in the kitchen was a lovely way to start the day. The view out the kitchen window was also lovely. Gosh I loved it.

We didn't really know where exactly to go, so we booked Lucas House in Cortona by luck - and we got lucky. Cortona is a beautiful city, the house with it's huge garden were perfect for the four of us and you have the nicest view from the balkony and the pool. You have lots of space, so you can have some private spots if you need a little distance from your family or friends. :) And Luca was a very good host and is just a nice guy. We totally recommend the place.

This house represented exactly what I thought Tuscany would be. A rustic old house surrounded by gardens on the side of the hill. I stayed here with my wife and three teenagers very comfortably. It has a terrace overlooking the valley and lake Trasimeno, perfect. Luca is a very nice guy, personable and easy to communicate with. Cortona is a medieval town not built for cars, it is difficult to find your way, so plan ahead. We had a great experience here.

Lucca was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The view from his house is one of the best I have ever seen. Tuscany is such a beautiful area of Italy. We were a group of 10. Lucca brought us into town to accomplish food shopping for our large group. The house was as described, the neighborhood was quiet and safe. Be prepared to climb the hill back and forth to town!
