Colinda Cabanas has been voted the # 1 bargain in Central America and # 20 in the WORLD for 2014 by Trip Advisor. Located on a quiet serene sandy beach on the prefered East side. We offer a variety of options depending on your needs and your budget !

The Space

This cabana (#6) sits about 100' from the waters edge. It has a nice sized covered porch with chairs, table and hammock. There is a partial ocean view from the deck. There are several well-screened windows and wall-fans providing good ventilation. Inside there is a double bed and a single bed with fitted sheets and comfy pillows. A fridge and coffee pot will satisfy most travelers needs. The bathroom shower and wash basin have a ample supply of hot reverse osmosis purified water. Other features include : Free WiFi, Organic Coffee beans and daily light housekeeping service.

A 175' long dock with palapa and hammocks and safe swimming area completes the picture. Bring a bathing suit, a good book and a beach towel.

We now offer complimentary bicycles, snorkel gear and have 2 kayaks available on a first-come basis.

Please read other guests reviews on trip advisor. !

Please note that we currently have ten rentals available to suit different budgets and needs : ALL ON A GORGEOUS BEACHFRONT PROPERTY IN CAYE CAULKER, BELIZE.

Guest Access

We are located on a prime Caribbean beachfront property. Facing the reef, we are blessed with an almost constant cool North-Easterly breeze. Most nights star-gazing is amazing while listening to the surf breaking on the reef. Naturalists and children alike will enjoy the abundant species of migratory birds, reptiles and marine life.
We have a 175' pier with several private bathing areas. At the end of the pier is a covered palapa with 2 hammocks. Each guest is assigned their own private beach cruiser bicycle with basket which is ideal for cruising around town. There are also a few sets of masks and snorkels available on a first-come basis. Basic fishing hand-lines are available for those guests that want to try the local technique. 2 kayaks are also available on a first-come basis.

Interaction with Guests

Colin and Linda will greet you on arrival and show you to your cabana. You will be shown a map of the island and the lay of the land. In the event that Colin + Linda are away in Canada; Juan our manager and his wife Emilita will be your hosts. A staff member is always on-site to answer your questions or concerns. We also have a night time watchman.

The Neighborhood

Colinda Cabanas is located in a quiet serene area of the island. The edge of town is a short 5 minute stroll down the beach. Many guests take tours off-site and go snorkeling, fishing or kayaking. However many guests just love to hang out on our pier, read a good book, go swimming and enjoy the ambiance.

Getting around

We are located about a 5 minute walk from the nearest store or restaurant. Or 2 minutes by bicycle.
Our exact location on Caye Caulker is as follows:
From the 2 water taxi piers located on the front of the island ; step off the end of the pier, take a left and walk 10 minutes South along the beach. We are just past the Anchorage Resort.
From the airport : Walk 400 feet to the beach. Turn left and walk North along the beach for 3 minutes.
From the back (water jets) pier walk 50 yards to middle street, turn right and walk 10 minutes along middle street.
Middle street dead-ends at our property.
If you arrive tired or with a pile of luggage; taxis charge U.S. $2.50 per person and only take a few minutes to get to our place.

Other Things to Note

Regional Disclaimer: The island of Caye Caulker is in the coastal Caribbean / tropical region of Belize. While this provides incredible beauty and natural wonders from sky to sea, it also means that, heat, humidity, sudden tropical squalls and power outages are common occurrences.
Living on a beach surrounded by jungle also means an abundance of Geckos, Iguanas, ants, and land crabs.
Occasionally sand flies and mosquitoes can also be problematic.
That said, we do everything we can to ensure your stay is comfortable and pleasant.....

  • My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Colinda's Cabanas. Colin and Linda were out of town when we were there but had left Juan in charge to take care of us and the property. Juan was an incredible host and very helpful with any questions we had about tours or things to do on the island. The rooms were very well kept and freshened up daily, and the property always looked nice. One afternoon Juan offered to cut us down a couple of coconuts to try from one of the trees on the property! Having the bicycles available to use was quite nice and we enjoyed being able to go out in the water on the kayaks. We loved Caye Caulker very much and I'm sure we will return, and will definitely book with them again!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Colinda's! Our room was so clean and nicely decorated. Spent a lot of time out on the dock, which was perfect for laying in the sun, and for having drinks in the evening. The free bikes were great for riding around the island. Colin and Linda were great hosts! Too many good things to say about this place :)

  • A FABULOUS place to stay! Far enough away from the main street for peace and quiet. We were provided bicycles for easy and quick access all over the island. We LOVED staying here. We were well taken care of. Linda and Colin were friendly and easy to talk to. The cabana was just right for our needs - clean, cozy, and cute. Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed our little cabana! It was super clean, close to whatever we needed, and the guests were more than helpful. After traveling the entire island, we believe Colinda's to be the best, most affordable lodging. Thanks Colin and Linda for all the helpful suggestions and friendly approach.

  • Wonderful island, cabanas and hosts! We absolutely loved our time on Caye Caulker and the cabanas were just perfect. We absolutely loved the complimentary use of bikes, we rode them everywhere! Colin and Linda are perfect hosts, we hope to go back soon!

Alles, was man braucht. Jederzeit wieder!

  • We had an absolutely amazing time here! Colin and Linda are very kind and helpful. We spent most of our time away from the Cabanas, but the time we did spend there was wonderful! The private deck and palapa with our own private hammocks was perfect in the evening during the sunsets. The cabana itself was small, but roomy inside and very clean. Plenty of hot water after long days of snorkeling and swimming. The bed was big and comfy as well, with fans to create a cool breeze at night. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It was in a great location, toward the quieter end of the island. We rented bikes from Colin and Linda during our stay and rode them around all day and night. All around great experience, thank you so much!

  • Absolutely loved staying here. In fact, extended an extra night. The cabanas are charming and right on the beach. I had my own hammock, and made good use of the other at the end of their private pier. Colin and Linda were warm and welcoming hosts who gave great tips about where to eat, tours, etc. Look forward to returning ASAP.

  • We loved Colinda! We stayed in an upstairs suite right on the beach which is beautifully built and spotless. Colin and Linda were very gracious and helpful hosts. I loved the location - very quiet but easily accessible to town especially on the bikes we rented from them. We'll definitely be back!

  • As others who have stayed with Colin and Linda have said, I wish I could rate them higher than the 5 star rating provided by airbnb! We could not have asked for a better place to stay during our time in Caye Caulker. They are more than accommodating, without being pushy or imposing on one's privacy. My husband and I stayed for 7 nights and were sad to leave them on our last day. They obviously take a lot of pride in their establishment and it shows through their great service and beautiful grounds. I would recommend couples, families, young travelers and single travelers stay with Linda and Colin for a wonderful time in Caye Caulker!

About
We (Colin and Linda) are from the Okanagan/Shuswap areas of British Columbia, Canada. We now call Lillooet B.C. and Caye Caulker, Belize our home. We were looking for a life-style change (needed paying jobs) and purchased this small beachfront resort in late January 2011. We spent the last year fixing it up and are now starting to enjoy Island living. We welcome your visit to our little spot in paradise. If you have any questions or concerns - please email us.
