About this listing
Spacious and bright 2 bedroom apartment just steps from the ocean and in the heart of Venice Beach. Perfect for one or two people.
Both rooms are very bright, spacious and have access to a huge terrace with BBQ. They're both furnished with a very comfortable queen sized bed, bookshelf, desk, full length mirror and a very large walk-in closet. Perfect for one person or a couple.
The apartment has a fully stocked kitchen, with everything you need including microwave, NutriBullet blender and a dishwasher. The living room is very cozy with two comfy sofas and a flat screen TV with AppleTV, Netflix, HBOGO and HuluPlus.
The photos were taken over a year ago, so the apartment is more decorated and furnished. We now have pictures and mirrors on the walls, a proper coffee table in the living room and the rooms are a bit less minimalist. The terrace also has a table and chairs, as well as several plants including an orange tree.
Guests have access to all areas of the apartment. You can feel free to relax, watch tv in the living room, sunbathe on the terrace and cook whatever you would like in the kitchen.
There's a washer (paid) and dryer (free) in the garage at the back of the house. We also have a large terrace with a charcoal grill.
There is one available parking space for the apartment, which we can make available if you give us notice. We also have one bike that can possibly be used.
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is inhabited by Alex and Phil - we rent out our rooms when we leave town for work or holiday so usually only one of us will be there during your stay. We spend our time working at our company's office on Abbot Kinney, at the beach, or hanging out in Venice. We're both happy to hang out, cook dinner with guests, or give you your privacy.
The apartment is literally steps from the beach, with the Venice boardwalk, Muscle Beach, surf shops, restaurants, bars and cafes etc. all right around the corner.
Abbot Kinney Blvd is only a 10 minute walk away and Santa Monica is a 10 minute drive or bus ride down the road.
We're more than happy to give guests recommendations of places in the neighborhood that we love.
Our apartment is a quick 15-20 minute drive or taxi ride from the airport.
Since it's LA, there isn't much in the way of public transportation in the area, but there are several bus stops close by.
Other Things to Note
Please note that BOTH rooms, meaning the entire apartment, are available from August 30 - September 12. We can fit 2 people in each bedroom and if needed, there are two couches for 2 extra guests.
Please no smoking inside. Unfortunately our landlord does not allow any pets.

I could never talk with my host Alex. I tried calling her in advance, texting her to include my cell phone # etc; I knew from her email that she wouldn't be there but wanted to talk with her in advance; later when my bedroom and the 1 bath and the terrace were so filthy, there was no one to get to clean anything up etc. That was a serious problem. Her friend Phil was not in charge of anything. There was no A/C, no fan or ceiling fan in my bedroom; the terrace screen had a volley ball size hole and tear so if I kept it open at night the mosquitos came in and if I closed my bedroom it was very hot and stuffy--difficult to go to sleep. There was only a bottom sheet, no top sheet, and a comforter that was too hot to get under at night. The window sill in my bedroom was so dirty that when I tried to put up the blind, balls of dust fell off the window sill. The only bathroom shower was so filthy I didn't take a shower during the 3 nights/4days that I was there; the bathroom sink was so slow draining that I couldn't wash my face because the sink and water remained dirty from the whiskers and dirt of the other guest who slept on the couch in the living room; the area around the inside bathroom door knob was caked in dark filth. The bolt lock on the front door was so poor that Phil's key got stuck in it when I had to leave the first day and it never did lock properly. The terrace was a nice concept, but the chairs and table were so dirty that I had to get paper towels to clean them up and sat on a towel myself. 18th Avenue in front of the apartment smelled of urine; I noticed a plastic bottle in the street the first morning and thought a late night street guest left their unfinished orange juice--but 30 feet later as I walked toward the beach, I saw another larger plastic jar filled with yellow and I realized this was urine from the homeless street persons that inhabit the beach front at night. This was my first Airbnb experience and I couldn't believe that I had to pay not only to stay in this mess (I didn't know anyone in town and had a tight schedule, besides I paid for this!), but also a cleaning fee to boot! I will be much more diligent next time. This may be a surfer's dream, but it was my nightmare.
Hi Robert, I'm so sorry to hear that you had so much trouble at our apartment. I never received any phone calls from you before you left, but would have been happy to talk. I think our listing is pretty accurate - we don't have AC as many don't in the area since we're so close to the beach and we don't advertise that we do. We would have been happy to provide a fan.
I'm sorry that you didn't like Venice Beach - it's not for everyone, but it is in the listing that that is where our apartment is located, we can hardly help that. We've never had any problems with the keys, and we had a cleaning person from a professional service come in the day before you arrived.
I wish you would have contacted me during your stay, I would have been happy to help you find another place if I knew you were this unhappy. We always want guests to feel comfortable and welcome in our home and I'm very sorry that you had such a terrible time.
I stayed at Alex and Phil's lovely apartment for 7 nights in July. They were both excellent hosts; Alex showed me around the flat and made me feel very comfortable in the space. Phil is a super friendly and fun guy and helped me out while I was in town. Room is lovely with huge balcony and comfy bed. As previous reviews have already confirmed (if the map wasn't enough) the apartment is literally a 30 second walk to the famous Muscle Beach. There are also some great food options nearby, particularly for Mexican cuisine. Totally recommend - thanks guys!
We stayed 2 nights at Alex' place in Venice during our roadtrip in California and it was the perfect location, just a 2-minute-walk from Muscle Beach and the Boardwalk in Venice Beach.
Alex was not there for the time being, but her boyfriend Tino. He was really friendly, and always helpful when we had questions.
The room was clean and spacious, as well as the bathroom. They also made some space available next to their garage, where we could park our car.
It was the perfect place for our short stay in L.A.
Great place! Fantastic location! Take your shoes off and walk straight onto the beach :).
Alex was very friendly and even stayed up for me because I arrived (very) late. The place can be a bit tricky to find, especially at night, because the street signs are tiny. But that's only my own fault (empty phone battery)!
Phil was a great host, very welcoming with great local tips. The location was perfect, 2 minutes to muscle beach and it came with a private parking space which was great for our rental car. The room was big, clean and had a private balcony- not much more you could ask for. Thanks Phil / Alex for a great trip in LA.
