Interaction with Guests
Villa Hibiscus is staffed by a great team of local people who will treat you like honored guests, and who you may very well come to see as family. They are as friendly as the day is long and will ensure that you want for nothing in your holiday.
Nyoman Jirnu is the Villa Manager and a wonderful chef, has been here since Villa Hibiscus opened in 1984 and she knows everything there is to know about the villa and the local area. She speaks fluent English and can cook almost anything from anywhere in the world, East or West, but just make sure you try her Balinese dishes – they are her specialty.
Kadek is the housekeeper and she is here to keep your glass filled, make your beds, do your laundry and make sure you have the best time possible - and always with a smile.
Made is the husband of Nyoman and he is the Head gardener and a pool man and he is ably assisted in his tasks by his assistant, Gede. Just take a look at the condition of the beautifully kept garden and pool and you will see that they are well up to the task.
Robertius is an on-call driver for the brand-new 7-seater Toyota Kijang Innova villa's mini-van and he will (at extra cost of IDR 550,000 + petrol per day) take you anywhere on the island you want to go. He knows Bali like a native but his English isn’t so good so plan your itinerary with Nyoman before you set out.
Villa Hibiscus is located down a quiet residential back-road in the historical village of Sanur on Bali’s southeastern coast. Sanur was Bali’s original tourist enclave and is characterized by shady lanes, vine-draped coral walls, sedate leafy compounds, majestic trees and a five-kilometre shoreline within a gentle reef-sheltered lagoon, making it safe for swimming, and is home to many consulates, and large garden estates of wealthy locals and expats
The island’s first simple guest rooms were constructed here in the late 1940s, heralding the age of modern tourism. Today Sanur is the domain of well-heeled tourists, who like its mellow, restful and cosmopolitan ambience. Foreign visitors rub shoulders with the locals, chic fashion shops are bordered by traditional markets, and a plethora of hidden temples can be found in between of art galleries and nice restaurants.
Sailing boats dot the horizon, and old men in conical hats linger on the stone jetties with their fishing rods while contemplating the aquatic aerobatics of the kite surfers.
Almost the entire coastline is built up by a luxurious private residences and hotels with exceptional gardens and a paved esplanade runs the length of the sandy beach, recently saved from erosion by an impressive landscaping and conservation project that has also safeguarded the coral reef. Cycling and walking along this pathway is a great way to explore the local community and watch the sun rise. Along this path are a wide selection of small restaurants and cafes where it is possible to rent a sun lounger for a small fee and spend a most pleasant afternoon on the sand.
Located just five minutes’ walk from the villa is Merta Sari Beach, normally a very quiet and peaceful beach and popular with tourists, which on Sundays comes alive with the sights and sounds of the local villagers who converge on the sand to run huge kites, swim, buy and sell food, and have a good time.
Strolling up the beach walk from Merta Sari are a variety of cafes, restaurants, coffee shops and sports bars that offer a good choice of where to spend your time. A short taxi ride away in the centre of town are wide selection of restaurants offering everything from Chinese, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Spanish cuisine, Australian steaks and fresh seafood.

We as 3 couple: me&my husband, my sister&her husband, mom&dad, stayed in Villa Hibiscus between (phone number hidden). Villa Hibiscus is a fantastic place to stay. Photos match the truth and you have more to find out. We really loved the way it designed. There was a construction going on the next door, which they told us before and see if we want to move onto another villa, but we decided not to. And to tell the truth there were barely disturbing sound. Nyoman is very helpful. She exchanged money for us, arranged messages, contacted kimono batik shop to see if they have any for us to buy. Moreover she is a very good cook. My mom didn't like Indonesian food much but she really liked what Nyoman cooked. Normally guests have to claim they want breakfast 1 day before, which we couldn't for the last day (because we arrived the villa late), although we asked for it on the morning, staff prepared breakfast which we really appreciated. There was one big problem: the bathtubs at the bathrooms (except the major bathroom) were so dangerous while getting in and out. Yes there are warning signs, but it is not enough to avoid the slippery. My sister hit her head so badly against the bathtub while trying to get in. Ofcourse mostly she, but we were on tenterhooks all night long, waking her every 2 hours to check if she is okay.
Villa magnifique, service très pro. c'est une villa qui a une âme et dont on sent l'histoire à travers son ameublement; un seul tout petit bémol sans doute facilement modifiable: on ne comprend pas très bien combien vont couter les repas que l'on y prend.
Dear Agnes, thank you for your review. I can not agree more, villa Hibiscus is a special place! I wasn't in Bali to meet you personally but it's good to know you you enjoyed it. I talked to Nyoman, our manager and chef, she is always providing the best meals and sourcing for the best ingredients for our guests, and you know she is a great cook! However, better ingredients (like organic or imported) are more expansive (even for myself, I found it's cheaper to eat out than cook at home, as I always shop for the best). It's nice you had experience testing different kind of meals Nyoman cooked for you. Wish you may stay with us once again! Beautiful travels!

Hi, I'm Vasily and I'm the founder of the VillaNaBali vacation rentals and management company.
I first came to Bali in 2007 for a New Year's holiday, and somehow me and my friends managed to establish the first Russian-owned property company on the island. My life then changed. I moved here in 2009 and I am till here today.
Doing vacation rentals as a profession, I know that it is so important to create a homely feeling in our villas and offer the warm Bali hospitality that people can only experience when they holiday here. Balinese people are outstanding; they are friendly, they smile all the time, and many of them are happy to go the extra mile to make guests happy (as for the Balinese who are not so happy, they don't work in our villas). We love welcoming people from around the world and it is a fantastic experience to share our vision.
The other important thing we deliver to our guests is the chance to discover the Island of Gods, and all of its rich culture, traditions and colourful religious rituals. We help each guest to arrange a personalized itinerary and visit the places they most want to see. We have sacred temples, amazing tropical parks, secluded beaches, dramatic cliffs, fantastic rural landscapes with emerald rice fields, mountain rivers to try rafting, jungles and sacred valleys perfect for meditation and yoga. I have spent a lot of time travelling in the island and I still can't say I know it all.
I'm very proud of my team of people, Balinese and expats, because they add their love to everything they do. Everyone will discover his or her own Bali and will feel the island in different ways but no one will remain indifferent to it.
Come to Bali, and let us do our best to help you really enjoy your holidays. Think only of your holiday not of routine.
We promise you heartfelt service from your first and until your last minute of your holiday.
Om swastiastu! Selamat datang! Welcome to the Island of Gods!
