  • Nice place. Near French Quarter and walking distance to public transportation.

  • We had driven for 6 hours, mostly in driving rain and arrived later than anticipated after 10 pm. We had just flown into the US that day and couldn't get our phones to work. In other words, we weren't ideal guests! However Tom greeted us very warmly and settled us in kindly and helpfully. The apartment was exactly as described with well equipped kitchen, washing machine, small table for eating, roomy couch, separate bedroom with very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. We didn't use our hire car during our stay as everything was in close walking distance. The neighbourhood felt very safe and the property seemed secure. We only met Whitney as we were leaving but she was very friendly and her prior written communication was good. Shogas is an excellent place to stay and is well positioned for a great time in New Orleans.

  • Shogas was the perfect stay for us. Whitney provided detailed info prior to the trip. Shogas was everything we expected and more.

  • We had a lovely stay in Tremé. The flat was beautiful and contained everything we needed. They were even kind enough to leave us some local beer in the fridge. The communication before arrival was excellent, and we got many useful tips during our stay. French quarter is only a short walk away.

  • The apartment fit our needs well. We liked the location a lot - not right in the tourist district, but walking distance to Frenchman's Street, the French Quarter, and easy mass transit to downtown, City Parkand so on. The apartment was as described in the listing.

  • Shogas apartment was amazing! It was a fantastic location and Whitney and Brian were amazing to work with. It's a quick walk to the French quarter. The apartment itself is cute and fully stocked with everything you'd need for a home away from home.

  • We came into NOLA for a wedding and with our own wedding coming up as well as a new home we couldn't afford to stay in many of the hotels that looked up to standard. When we found this we were excited and felt we could make the trip happen all without having to stay in a shady hotel or dump. Well, this place was perfect. I was a bit nervous as we arrived due to the neighborhood being in a rough shape, but everything was fine. The accommodations were perfect and better than most hotels with a nice fridge and kitchen. Though we were scared at first after asking Ms. Carol and Brian who insisted the neighborhood was safe, we walked to and from all our destinations without any concern. We were a close walk to the french quarter as well as the marigny/Frenchmen street. We also took a jog to city park which was great. Really, we couldn't have asked for better and we would love to come back and stay here again.

  • I loved everything about this place! It was clean, simple, and had everything we needed. I love that it felt like New Orleans on the inside, colorful paint and pictures, antiques and local art. It is a perfect size for couples. I also loved that it had a private yard and that the people staying there, Brian and Dawn, have an adorable puppy to play with! Brian and Dawn were super friendly and best of all, locals and tour guides. They had so much information to give. The house itself is a great area, in the oldest African American neighborhood in America. I felt safe and comfortable and we walked everywhere. The French Quarter and Bourbon St is only blocks away, making it an ideal location. I can't wait to come back and when I do, I want to stay in the same place.

Hi! My name is Whitney and I am a New Orleans transplant. Originally from North Carolina- I have lived in New Orleans since July 2010. Although I miss North Carolina often, I have fallen in love with New Orleans- the food, the spirit of the people, the music, the culture, the history, the tradition and even my husband, Tom! New Orleans has treated me well and I hope to repay it the favor for many years to come. I have been an airbnb host since July 2012. The property was first listed on airbnb by the previous owner "Belinda." We want to be able to provide all of our guests with a quiet, nice and convenient place to stay as they take in all that New Orleans has to offer. We hope to meet with you soon and help to make your New Orleans experience memorable. Talk soon! Whitney (& Tom) :)
