Description

The space

Our home is only a 4 block walk to downtown Sausalito and an 8 minute drive to the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The 1907 banana belt home on a nearly 10,000 sq. ft. lot is surrounded by other lovely homes in one of the best areas of Sausalito. You'll enjoy being within walking distance to town with a strong sense of privacy when at our home, and just a 30 minute ferry ride to San Francisco, or a 20-30 minute car trip to almost anywhere in the City.

The house is ideal for two couples but there are beds for 6 people--one wonderful Tempurpedic King size that articulates, vibrates and has a mattress warmer; a Tempurpedic Queen bed, also with a mattress warmer; and there is now a Tempurpedic Queen in the middle bedroom (it's not shown in the photo). All bedrooms are upstairs; there is a toilet room with a sink and another room with tub and sink; there is one bath with shower downstairs. The kitchen is fully stocked, including spices and lots of table settings. The dining room table will seat 10 people comfortably should you have friends living or visiting in the area.

There is also a large wood deck patio off the kitchen with a 3 burner Weber BBQ and table with chairs for enjoying the large garden area at the rear of the house. Mostly you will enjoy the views of the water and hills of Marin County from the living, dining and family rooms, and from all bedrooms as well. Truly soul soothing to see the water and the boat activity around the Bay.

Guest access

The entire house will be for your use. There is Wireless internet access as well as TV with HBO and program recording for catching your favorite shows if you miss them while out sightseeing.

Interaction with guests

We will not be at the property during your stay. However, we are very responsive via phone or email to any questions about the house or the Bay Area, or concerns you may have, and we have a local person to contact in the event of a problem.

The neighborhood

The house is very comfortable,we are surrounded by beautiful homes, there are wonderful water views, and we can walk to downtown Sausalito or to the ferry terminal to take the Ferry to San Francisco. It is an 8 minute drive to the Toll Plaza on the South end of the Golden Gate Bridge and there are also buses into the City in downtown Sausalito.

Getting around

Driving at the right times of day or taking the Ferry to SF is very easy. Also, there are numerous buses that go to San Francisco, should you prefer not to drive and the Ferry schedule doesn't work for your needs. Also, there's always Uber and taxis.

The house and views were stunning! We enjoyed the balcony, patios and reading areas. Everything in the home was high end and in great condition. The home and rooms are bigger than they appear in the pictures. The yard is very peaceful and we saw deer & birds each day. We had a chance to meet Courtney and Mary. They were very inviting and gave us great tips for restaurants and sight seeing. We also loved that Miller Ave has a direct walk way extension down to the town and Ferry. Everything was wonderful!

Courtney was an excellent host. He is the font of local knowledge and provided us with lots of advice on places to visit and driving directions (around SF, to Yosemite and to Monterrey) which greatly added to the quality and efficiency of our vacation experience. Courtney pointed us towards some great places not normally visited by tourists, so we also managed to see some beautiful and relatively untouched scenery - minus the crowds. The property is spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. It is beautifully located in Sausalito with fantastic views and is only 10-15min walk from the bay ferry terminal which gives easy access to SF. The house provides both a quiet sanctuary to retreat from the hustle of SF and it's also a great base for exploring the Bay Area, Napa Valley, Russian River Valley, the coast and Muir Woods. Sausalito itself is a charming little town with lots of speciality shops and restaurants. If ever in the SF area on vacation again, I would definitely try to rent this property. I can't recommend it highly enough - superb. Thank you Courtney.

Our stay was wonderful. The home is better than advertised with wonderful views, spacious and clean rooms and nice furnishings. We ate in one night and the wonderful dining room lent itself to a great evening. Beds were very comfortable. We would without a doubt recommend this home. It was a scenic walk to town (easy going down, much harder returning uphill). We decided to get lifts back up to home on our daily walks. Though one shower head was short, overall, the kitchen and bathroom utilities were very good. We loved the coziness (not small) and privacy of the back deck. Staying at this home will only add to your traveling experience.
