Unable to recommend due to TV in small bedroom with no chairs. Very uncomfortable to watch TV. No Cable or Dish, only ROCU Small patio not as listed. Totally overgrown and untended, like a jungle and sit and look at barren flower bed and side of garage. Needs a lot of work
Response from Lia:
Wow, that came out of nowhere. I'm sorry my place wasn't to Tom and Eileen's liking. It is a small home with small rooms consistent with the size rooms were back in the 50's. I believe the photos accurately reflect this. The description does state the only TV is in the bedroom and I guess I just assume guests will infer that it's intended to be watched from the bed. The description also clearly states there is no cable, but Netflix, HBO and other streaming channels are provided. I hope they read the descriptions a little more carefully on future rentals so that they aren't disappointed. As for the yard, it definitely is not what anyone would describe as a manicured garden but most guests enjoy the organic quality and often comment that they considered it an asset. Maybe it was these positive comments that made Tom and Eileen think it would be other than what it is. I would tend to agree that it is a little like a jungle, though that's not a bad thing in my book. They didn't let on that they were unhappy in any way, so I was taken by surprise at the negative review. They did contact me several times during their stay, first because they had changed the input on the TV and I came by to restore it, secondly their laptop was not booting correctly which I assisted them with even though it was unrelated to the internet or wireless, and thirdly because they had broken the lever on the toilet on the last day of their 7 day stay. I responded promptly to each incident, but as a notice to hosts, they were a bit high-maintenance - I just didn't want to mention that because they seemed like such a sweet elderly couple. And on a final note, they permanently and very visibly scratched my hard wood floors. I believe they must have made an attempt to drag the armchairs from the living room into the bedroom to watch TV. Either that or their rolling suitcases were particularly heavy. I really was baffled on just what might have caused it. Again, I wasn't going to mention that to them since I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but I missed my chance to provide private feedback to them and I hope the information will avoid damage in the future. I wish you the best, Tom and Eileen, but I think you were a bit unfair in your review.

I was born and raised here in San Luis Obispo, and while I moved away for a few years, I couldn't stay away and I have lived in this beautiful area most of my life. I love hiking, gardening, and nature in general. I worked for many years in the computer software industry, but …
