This studio suite is located on our secluded 16-acre forest sanctuary near the Yuba River and Tahoe National Forest. With access to our communal spa space (clothing optional), including: a Scandinavian-style cedar sauna (with crystal-grid), colloidal silver and UV-filtered hot tub, outdoor baths & showers, meditation/yoga temple, kitchen, straw-bale bathhouse with deep soaking tubs/rain showers - A perfect refuge to escape the congestion of the city and breathe in the fresh mountain air!

The space
Walk up the spiral staircase to access the queen suite, located in the upper floor of a detached guesthouse with private access. It has a dry bar space with high-quality filtered water (chlorine- and fluoride-free) and an electric water kettle and french press for tea or coffee. Breakfast table/writing desk is perfect for enjoying a drink or making progress on your creative project. There is a comfortable couch for reading or watching movies on your computer, and the room has a heater, fan, and air conditioner. Walk past the balcony with outdoor café table down the spiral staircase to access the luxury bathhouse. The bathhouse includes two private, deep soaking tubs (each suitable for a couple) with rain showers, and two toilets with bidets.

Guest access
In addition to the queen suite, the spa area is shared, with the exception of another private guest suite above the sauna and changing room. Below the sauna and changing room is the communal kitchen and bathroom (compost eco-toilet). Guests can access the community kitchen, the spa deck (including the crystal-grid cedar sauna, outdoor baths, 'chemical-free' hot tub, outdoor showers, and changing room with filtered water station). The showers and baths are open (i.e., no privacy screening). Our bathhouse is up the hill. Here you will find two indoor deep soaking tubs/rain showers (perfect for couples) and two standard flushing toilets (with bidets). During open-use hours guests have access to the Stardeck and Yurt Temple for practicing yoga, meditation, dance, or whatever else calls to you! We also have little nature trails down to our enchanted creek, and many places to enjoy the magical energies unique to this land.

Other things to note
BOOKING A MASSAGE:
Please let us know if you would like to arrange a massage or alternative healing treatment during your stay and we can provide you with detailed information.
SHARED SPACE:
Note that there are other guests and community members sharing the communal spaces. We encourage you to proactively communicate with other guests to figure out a flow that works for everyone.
QUIET HOURS:
Out of respect for our neighbors and guests wanting to enjoy the quietude of nature, we ask that everyone honor our quiet hours after 10pm. This means being mindful of your noise-levels, especially outside or in shared spaces (e.g., no electrified music, loud laughing, shouting etc.).
LAND MAINTENCE HOURS:
During working hours (M-F) there may be various work projects happening on our land, which can mean that there could be some noise (e.g., weed whacking, sawing, sanding, etc.).
SMOKING AREA:
Absolutely NO FLAME CANDLES OR FIRES are allowed under any circumstances. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.
INTERNET ACCESS:
Our internet is good by rural standards, but guests should beware that our wifi may or may not meet their needs, especially if large items need to be uploaded or downloaded. Our antenna service gets 6 megabits per second download speed and up to 1.5 megabits per second upload speed. However, these rates refer to our service when everything is optimized. Our experience is that those optimal speeds are not always reliable and we periodically need to get tech support to optimize the system. City Council cafe in downtown Nevada City offers a faster connection for those who need it.
CELL SERVICE:
Generally we get great cell service at Eudaimonia on most major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Etc.), so personal hotspots are likely a reliable backup for internet access.

We are just 5-10 minutes from some of the best swimming holes and beaches in the heart of the south-fork of the Yuba River (Purdon's Crossing), and 5 minutes from a wonderful little health food store called Mother Truckers. The little town of North San Juan is 10-minutes and has a lovely organic cafe and juice bar called the Ridge Café, and an organic pizza restaurant called Mama's Pizzeria, and the closest gas station (they have diesel too). Double Oak vineyard & winery is within walking distance and offers weekly tastings on Saturdays (11-5) or by appointment. We are 25 minutes from the quaint but lively historic downtown of Nevada City, which offers a variety excellent restaurants, bars, cafés, coffee shops, wine bars, an elixir bar, art galleries, live music, EDM dance parties, ecstatic dance, theatres, an art-house cinema, renowned festivals, unique shopping, a health food store, and a farmer's market.

I grew up in Portland, Oregon and love the outdoors. I practice yoga, meditation, and love to dance, hike, swim, ski, climb, and play music. I am a philosopher exploring the cultural, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of global flourishing and sustainability. In 2016 I published a book with my colleagues entitled Metatheory for the 21st-Century: Critical Realism and Integral Theory in Dialogue (Routledge). I'm currently working on two more: one called Metatheory for the Anthropocene: Emancipatory Praxis for Planetary Flourishing; and the other is entitled Steps Towards a Eudaimonistic Society: An Integrative Realist Theory of Climate Change.

We tend to give our guests space, but there is a real sense of community amongst those of us who live and visit here, and typically plenty of opportunity for interaction. Please note that the shared spaces (spa deck area, kitchen, yurt temple) are shared with other potential Airbnb guests, as well as residents. Someone will typically be available when needed to help make your stay more enjoyable.
