Classic NDG house with tons of space. House is currently organized with one bedroom and two offices, but can have one of the offices converted to a bedroom if more than 3 guests are visiting. Two couches for "singles", plus a day bed for spring, summer, and fall. Gorgeous dining room to entertain dinner guests. Close to the Villa Maria métro, and steps away from the Monkland village. Easy street parking available. This is the perfect house for those looking to visit family in the area without being "in the way", or preserving some intimacy! Ideally to be rented over weekends throughout the year, as well as over the christmas break and several weeks in summer. Happy to also provide restaurant references - we are knowledgeable in the field! Full TV and cable, free wifi, use of mac home computer, unlimited long distance phone calls in North America, and easibly accessible from the highway. Simply perfect!
Monkland village, in NDG, is a classic Montreal neighbourhood, with numerous cafés and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the Villa Maria Metro station a few minutes away.
Villa Maria Metro is a few minutes away, and there is easy access to highway 15 (Décarie Highway).
No parties - but feel free to have nice dinners with a few guests!
Beautiful place, super convenient location right next to an organic grocery store (ecollogey)- we loved the dining room and the kitchen and how clean everything was. The bed was super comfortable- so was the day bed- although it was more of a mattress. Marc was very responsive to all our needs.
A bit of a surprise was that it seemed more like an apartment and less of a house, w/ people living upstairs (they have their own separate entrance). We didn't have a problem with that- they were pretty quiet- but with those beautiful but creaky floors we could see it being an issue for some.
We would definitely want to stay here again!
Our group of five found the location of Marc's apartment very convenient --to transit, restaurants, groceries, shops, banking and other neighborhood amenities-- and the renovations to this turn of the century flat to be attractive. I do not recommend the unit for groups of our size during the warm summer months, however, because the only cooling or air circulation is a portable device in the main bedroom. For our group to sleep, the bedroom door had to remain open with the device on full speed; even then, the rest of the sleeping areas were uncomfortably hot and still, and the main bedroom was uncomfortably cold and non-private. Moving around the flat at night is impossible, as the lovely old wooden flooring, though nicely stripped and re-surfaced, has not been re-nailed; the floorboards protest very loudly at the gentlest step. For one or two people, this would be a perfect flat. For four or five, it doesn't work in the summer.
We're sorry it was unseasonably warm during your stay, we find leaving front and back windows open (for circulation) drastically helps, but will consider adding a second AC unit. As for the floors, that is the reality of keeping the beauty of original 1920's flooring; it can't be "re-nailed" without changing the actual floor, which would be a detriment to the house. It cracks, and it's an old house. I trust you found the bed very comfortable, however!
This was the second time I've stayed at Marc's beautiful NDG apartment. I honestly can't say enough great things about it. Perfect location, close to everything, sparkling clean, even a chocolate on my pillow. This will definitely be the first place I stay whenever I come back to Montreal.
I had a fabulous time in Montreal. I don't think I could've been any happier with my experience at Marc's beautiful apartment. The apartment was exceptionally clean, the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need and it was close to great shopping and restaurants. I would highly recommend Marc's apartment to anyone, in fact, I'm returning to Montreal in June and have booked Marc's place again. Loved it!!
I'm very grateful to have been able to stay at Marc's place. It is absolutely beautiful, clean and in a great location. I had a lovely time. I am also thankful for Marc, for always being very available, having left a lovely apartment and neighbourhood guide, and for responding swiftly.
