Blyplek (Afrikaans word for place to stay) is a three-bedroom house on a hectare in a small nature reserve adjacent to the Blyde River. It is surrounded by the dramatic towering Northern Drakensberg and beautiful bushveld habitat. The town of Hoedspruit is approximately 35 kilometers away and the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park, 70 kilometers. Blyplek has a security fence and a gate manned 24 hours. https://maps.app.goo.gl/pvbRbJxCJdtcSh7t7

The space
If you need to restore your inner self and gain tranquility, then this is the place to stay. The reserve has a variety of mamals, Duiker, Bushbuck, Wildebeest, Kudu, Impala, Zebra, 2 types of mongooses, bushbabies, etc.
To visit the Kruger National Park: the Orpen gate is 50 minutes away on tarred roads. The Blyderiver runs through the estate. As Hoedspruit is a hub of tourist activities, there are lots of opportunities to go on various trips: white river rafting, ballooning, air flights, boating trips on the dam, fishing, taking day trips on the Panorama route.

Where you’ll be

Hoedspruit, Limpopo, South Africa

Hoedspruit is at the centre of activities regarding the bushveld experience. With the Kruger National Park near it and multiple enormous game reserves and consevancies around it, the focus is on natural habitat and the animals that live within this environment. The added bonus is to have the beautiful Northern Drakensberg towering over you. "Hoedspruit is a low-key urban oasis within the wilderness, and there really is something special about the atmosphere here."
Blyde River Canyon is the world's largest green canyon. And as Blyplek is just alongside the nature reserve you're well positioned to experience so much more of the canyon. From seeing the Three Rondavels (three mountain peaks) from the water of the Blyderiverspoort Dam (there is a canyon boat trip at 9 am, 11 am and 3pm daily) to heading up to Mariepskop for a stunning new vantage or getting a bird's eye view from a hot-air balloon.
Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is involved in the consevation of endangered animals, while Moholoholo has centre that provides sanctuary to abandoned and injured wildlife. Both are worth a visit.

I am 77 years old and is still married to the same husband that I met at university. We have 3 children and 4 grand children. I am a retired academic who taught drama for 30 years.
I can't live without books, especially crime novels. I can not survive without a cell phone, internet and television. Remarkable if you think that they are quite late 20th century developments and I grew up without them!
We love to travel through South Africa as it is a diverse country. Not only regarding the population but also regarding its changing landscapes.
I need to visit the Kruger National Park at least once a year otherwise I get withdrawal symptoms. It is nature at its best. For that reason we have a smallish house in the Lowveld near the park in a nature reserve. It lies amongst bushveld surrounded by the mountain peaks of the Northern Drakensberg. I must have houses with a view otherwise my phsyche suffers. That is why we originally bought the stand in Bosbokduin and built Stroois. So that we may have uninterupted seaviews and also be surrounded by natural habitat. Voorhuis and Stroois are our beach houses, that is why we rent it out for the rest of the year when we do not use it. I have been going on summer vacations to Stilbaai since 1960 and it has been my haven throughout all these years.
I do not have a definite motto for living my life. I believe in doing my best and not to have any regrets.
