Other Things to Note
There is a local farm business that deliver food and veg boxes for guests another local company that provide meals if required, both can be arranged directly. We also have babysitters and lots of other extras that guests have requested in the past.
Enjoy our home and all we provide but please treat everything with care and respect. If you have to cancel your stay, please do so as soon as possible as the cottages are our livelihood and not a hobby so we need to rebook cancellations as soon as possible.
If you are looking for accomodation around Harrogate and surrounding area, look no further!! The two cottages at Cowslip farm are wonderful.
The welcoming cosy feel and scrumtous, complimentry apply pie on our arrival made this wonderful place the perfect choice for a family break to celebrate a big birthday. With the very comfortable furnishings and beds, great bathroom and wetroom and stocked every utility you need, there can be no better place to enjoy the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and Towns.
Located within the outlying countryside of Harrogate you feel you are a miles from anywhere but the delights of this busy Town are approx 5 mins drive/taxi ride away. The other cities of York, Ripon and Leeds are within easy striking distance by car or by the excellent bus/train links. If you are looking to enjoy the Yorkshire countryside Cowslip and Humblebee cottages are the perfect place to stay to explore this beautiful area.
The very helpful, yet discreet host Tanya was always available if we needed any imformation. It was a great shame we did`nt have time to use her very busy on site farm cafe and shop.
We only used one of the cottages during our stay but the next time we have a larger family get together or weekend away with friends we will be contacting Tanya to book both cottages because as I said in the "visitors comments book",
"Why stay in a hotel room when you can relax and enjoy this wonderful home from home"
Looking forward to our return to the magnificent Cowslip farm cottages.
Ray and family.
What a lovely place to stay with a cozy coffee shop and homemade goodies on site! We were welcomed by some extremely delicious cake and a little personalised newsletter telling us anything we needed to know for our stay - wifi included. Tanya popped over as soon as we arrived to say hello and make sure we knew where to go if we had any questions. The house was lovely, all the rooms nicely made up and the wherewithal for a fire which we were very glad to light after a day out in Ripon. We werea little nervous that there was only one bathroom but managed without any problems. Thank you Tanya for a lovely experience. We'll definitely be recommending you!
So glad you enjoyed your stay Sarah, thank you for being lovely guests. I often worry about only one bathroom particularly with 6 girls, like your booking, if it will be enough but we have never had any problems and there should always be plenty of hot water. Humble Bee next door also sleeps 6 and has 2 bathrooms, hopefully if you come again you could try there and pick your favourite! Don't worry there is a log burner in there so you can still have a fire!! ;-)
Tanya and Dave were really warm and friendly and helpful. The cottage was lovely and the coffee shop very cosy and warm. Tanya gave us a great little route guide for a walk to Ripley which was nice.
On arrival there was a beautiful home based pie on the kitchen table, which was delicious and such a sweet gesture
Tanya, what can I say? Our experience in Cowslip Cottage exceeded all of our expectations! From comfortable beds to a fully equipped kitchen, the cottage was a lovely and warm base for my family to tour Yorkshire. Thank you for lovely brownies and the best apple pie we have ever had, we were very sorry to leave. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
So pleased you had such a lovely time, you were lovely guests. What you didn't mention was that we were not even ready for you when you arrived (as I thought you were coming the day after, as the original booking) and you were so patient while we rushed around to make up all the beds - thankfully we had already cleaned and just had the beds to do! Its never happened before and hopefully won't again, but if it did and everyone was as lovely as your family it wouldn't be so bad!! We would love to welcome you again ;-)
It took us sometime to find your place and we appreciate the assistance given over the phone for directions-I believe we called you at least 4 times for directions and your patience was most appreciated. Further, we had a warm pie waiting for us when we entered your cottage-thank you for for that.
Your home was lovely and comfortable. We as a family, enjoyed our stay and thank you for the same.

We have just had a fabulous stay in Cowslip Cottage. Tanya was quick in replying to all communication and gave a very accurate description of the cottage - perhaps the only thing missed off was how well equiped the kitchen was; we had everything needed to make Yorkshire puddings from scratch for our Yorkshire mini-break! A wonderful trip to a great cottage with fantastic hosts with plenty, both in the cottage (a cupboard full of games) in the beautiful surrounding area, to occupy people of all ages.
Thank you Emma, so lovely to hear you enjoyed your time here, we are very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country and of course you must make Yorkshire puddings while you are here! We have just added slow cookers to both cottages as well which should be welcome as it gets colder.
Tanya was a fantastic host providing all the information we required to make our stay hassle free and thoroughly enjoyable. The cottage was exactly as described and exceeded all of our expectations in terms of the facilities provided and home comforts. Our eldest daughter loved seeing the cows out of the window and going to see the chickens.
The location was perfect for our stay and we would love to stay again the next time we are heading to the area.

About the Host, Tanya
Hi, my name is Tanya, I am married to the lovely David. We live on our farm in a village called Killinghall just outside Harrogate with our two lovely dogs and lots of cows! We have two holiday cottages and a campsite on our farm which we call The Cud Life. I have a cookshop called Cooking Fantastic which I have just moved to the farm from the pretty picturesque market town of Knaresborough where it was for 10 years. We love to welcome families and individuals and are happy to show guests around the farm whilst they are here and provide plenty of local information for those who want to explore beautiful North Yorkshire.
