About This Listing
Manta Ray is situated at Newell Beach, a beautiful white sand tropical beach. The guest accommodation is located in a separate pavilion on the other side of the large salt water pool and comprises 2 bedrooms, each with QS beds, fan, air-conditioning, bar fridge. Rates includes a tropical breakfast.
The B & B is set within a tropical garden compound and is a 2 minute walk to the beach. A daybed over the pool offers an opportunity to relax by the pool and enjoy tropical breezes. The QS beds have mosquito netting and rooms are furnished in a Bali style. Perfect for honeymooning couples.
Please note that if you are wishing to accommodate more than 2 people, you will need to book 2 rooms and we offer a special discount of 10% when booking 2 rooms.
Although we have 2 rooms we only let both for a family/group booking as we do not expect couples who do not know each other to share the bathroom. So if you are just a couple, you would have a private bathroom.
Guests have access to the large salt water pool and use of the tropical gardens. Garden lounges are available for relaxing. Wi-Fi is available.
Interaction with Guests
Breakfast is a good time for Anne and Fernando to share their knowledge of the local area. Brochures on the many and varied local attractions are available and a tour booking service is provided.
Manta Ray is well located for trips to the Reef and Rainforest and also the Tablelands.
Nearby attractions include a Crocodile Adventure park and crocodile spotting tours, Wildlife and bird sanctuary, reef fishing and sailing. Mossman Gorge rainforest, indigenous art gallery and guided tours. Coffee plantations, tropical fruit wineries, Golf courses, bird and wildlife spotting tours etc,
We recommend you hire a car from the airport as transport to and from the airport is expensive and does not service Newell Beach.

We didn't meet Ann and Fernando, because they were on vacation. But their friends Caroline and Werner were the perfect hosts. Every morning they prepared a wonderful breakfast with exotic fruits and were very helpful. We really enjoyed the conversations with them. Mantaray is a beautiful place: clean, spacious, calm! Ideal for a nice relax and for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation. We spent 4 days at Mantaray and were sad that we had to leave that great place!
Anne and Fernando are lovely people. They treated us like their own friends. Their place was amazing, and it felt like we were in a resort. What made it even better was the company of Anne and Fernando, both very interesting people, who made recommendations for places to eat and things to do. They also checked the weather of the day we had booked snorkelling, and saw that it was expected to be windy and choppy conditions, and on their advice we changed the day we went snorkelling. We are very much appreciative of that. And they made an amazing breakfast for us. We will be highly recommending that our friends and family stay here for a few nights at least if they come up to Port Douglas. We will definitely be back.
Thank you for the great review Ronal. We have been thinking about you both and wondering how the tree house experience went? Also hoping that the snorkelling trip worked out for you. We look forward to having you stay again when next back in our lovely area. Anne and Fernando
We had a great time staying at Anne and Fernando's B&B. They were very inviting without being imposing, the saltwater pool was lovely, andit was only a 3-5 minute walk to a beautiful beach (although wet season = stingers = no swimming). The tropical breakfast and good company were the cherry on top! Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Thank you for the lovely review Lindsey. We enjoyed having you stay, you were lovely appreciative guests. Hope your stay in the Daintree and then your trip to the Tablelands went well and that you leave us with a great impression of Australia, sufficient to coax you back again some time in the future. Warm Regards Anne and Fernando
Booked the evening before and accepted the day of. The photographs on the website are amazing but they are nothing compared to what the location actually looks like. It was incredible. It was like paradise. Anne and Fernando were the most amazing hosts and went above and beyond what was expected. They were fantastic to chat to and at the same time gave us space. The breakfast was to die for with a fresh tropical fruit plate and croissants or pancakes. The room and surroundings felt like a 5 star resort, rather than just a B&B. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Anne & Fernando are a lovely friendly couple and they made us feel very welcome into their beachside bali home. They served us a fresh and healthy breakfast each morning and were kind enough to give us great advice for our trips. We enjoyed a glass of wine together in the evenings and had nice conversation over breakfast. We felt at home and would definately recommend a stay. Thank you both for everything!
It was a pleasant stay at Newell Beach with Anne and Fernando, whom were friendly and helpful. The property is well furnished and in good condition. The breakfasts served were great!
Anne and Fernando was a genuinely lovely couple and we were so fortunate to have found their B&B! Breakfast was always abundant and we could never finished everything! They do go out of their way and was very factual and knowledgeable about anything and everything locally and thanks to their local knowledge we picked all the activities that suited our needs :) we loved the B&B which was beautifully designed and really enjoyed our stay, it was like staying with our uncle and auntie!
