Cozy Creekside Cabin in Redwoods

House - Entire home/apt · Bohemian Highway, Monte Rio, CA 95462, United States

Chalet-style, beautiful cabin in the redwoods, with seasonal creek running through backyard. Relax in the sun on the large deck, sip wine under the stars, or cozy up by the fireplace. Close to Russian River and excellent restaurants in Guerneville, and 20 minutes to coast.

The Space

This house is light-filled and warm. It is surrounded by redwoods, so is also very private. Bring some firewood for the woodstove!

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire house -- which includes two comfortable bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and coffee maker, living room, dining room, and tv with dvd player. There is a large, fenced backyard, new deck, and propane grill. Dutch Bill Creek runs through the backyard (full in winter, moderate in spring and summer, and completely dry in the fall). There is no cable tv at the house and no internet (we're working on it!), so bring a book and a couple movies, and enjoy being disconnected for a day or two! (If this is just too painful, there is an internet cafe in Monte Rio, about 1.5 miles away.)

The Neighborhood

Neighborhood is woodsy. The house is a few miles north of Occidental (beautiful small town with restaurants and small shops), two miles south of Monte Rio (small town with movie theatre and river access), and about four miles from Guerneville (many more shops, restaurants and bars, river access, and Armstrong Woods).

Other Things to Note

Cats are not allowed, sorry. Dogs may be allowed (contact me) but will incur extra charge.

  • This is a wonderful, charming and comfortable house in a beautiful and quiet location! The house has everything you might need and even though we did not meet the hosts, they were totally helpful and friendly (via email for us, but also available by phone).
the bad part? We were at a retreat from morning until evening every day of our stay so we didn't get to enjoy the house, its beautiful deck, and the trails around it as much as we wanted to.

  • We were excited when we saw how great the place was, unique location, full kitchen and spacious - it is much more than just a cabin. The place had a sense of home, which we really appreciated and fully enjoyed. The guide and directions both emailed prior to arrival and left in hard copy at the cabin was helpful and thorough. We tried out several places from your small guide and could only agree on your 'reviews'. Howards Cafe in Occidental had great breakfast and juices. Our boys were thrilled to see that the place had a small creek in the backyard although we had to be alert of our two year old not getting too close the edge and dropping in. We were very fascinated by the large trees surrounding the house and especially the view from kitchen window - looking straight into a huge tree, framed by the window. We stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute and we sincerely recommend a stay at the cozy creekside cabin

Thanks Line. We travel a lot too and it's really bothersome when the kitchen (and bathroom) isn't clean!

I know it's tough to be offline. (I'm writing this from the internet cafe up the road from the cabin right now, wishing we had internet at the house!) Sorry about that!
    Best,

  • My husband and I stayed at the cabin for our anniversary. Upon seeing the place my first thought was that this cabin should be featured in Sunset magazine. It is beautiful on the inside and out. The deck gets a ton of sunshine and the sound of the creek is so relaxing. The cabin has everything you need. We had a hard time leaving, can't wait to go back. Did I mention the hosts are wonderful people?

  • Mary's cabin is great. I went there with a couple friends to do some recording, and it was everything it promised. Will almost definitely be back.

  • Beautiful Location, super comfortable accommodations, lots of little extras which make the cabin even more inviting. the lack of internet kept our kids engaged, with us, we played board games, and read, soaked our feet in the creek and relaxed on the deck. The proximity to incredible food was super convenient, and the recommendations listed in the the property description was spot on, We will definitely come back again!

  • he beautiful woods and the babbling creek. Everything appeared just as she Prior to our arrival, Mary provided us with extremely detailed information about Monte Rio, the cabin and surrounding areas, so when we arrived at the cozy cabin late on Friday night we felt completely ready to start our weekend away--no TV, no internet--completely unplugged from technology. We both work in technology, so this was something we were really looking forward to. When we awoke on Saturday morning, we were dazzled by tdescribed and showed in her photos. The bonus was the unexpected loft sleeping area, which we didn't use, but we stole pillows from! The owners are totally dog-friendly, and our visiting doggie was very happy with the backyard. I would highly recommend this cozy cabin again.

  • Mary's cabin is absolutely beautiful. It was quiet and the running water from the creek provided a serene atmosphere. My boyfriend and I loved that it came with a well-equipped kitchen, fresh towels and a cozy fire stove. It was a great place to spend time just relaxing. It is pretty private although you can still hear a few cars drive by on the other side of the creek. We loved spotting a few ducks 'rafting' on the creek.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cabin-favorite airbandb stay so far! The home was clean and comfortable, conveniently located, and very private. The sound of the babbling brook in the evenings was so relaxing and the surrounding redwoods gave this cabin a very secluded feeling.
Plus we brought our dog and found this property to be very dog friendly with an enclosed backyard area. Will definitely stay here again!

  • This cabin is fantastic. Very craftsman-like and cozy. The deck was so relaxing in the morning to drink coffee and listen to the creek right outside. A great working kitchen, the kitchen island and bench style seating at the kitchen table really makes (email hidden)/drinking/socializing spot. Each room has so many windows it really lets a lot of light in and the colors of the inside and outside of the house are so warm and inviting.

I highly recommend for a couple or two couples for a relaxing weekend. So great.

  • We loved our stay at the cabin! My husband and I spent my son's nap times sitting by the wood stove, playing board games and listening to the creek and rain. The loft above the entryway was the perfect place to steal a nap. The cabin had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils and pots and pans. It rained a lot while we were there, but when it was dry, we enjoyed the porch and the creek in the back. Our son got a kick out of the trees and the ducks in the creek. We loved the proximity to the coast as well as Santa Rosa and had fun exploring Guerneville. Having no TV or internet was actually liberating and I think we enjoyed our time as a family more as a result. The cabin was a cozy place to come home to after exploring the area!
