Interaction with Guests
Your hosts are two friendly, respectful, and married gay men, Andy and Noah, plus our sweet and gentle dog Kala and cat Wesley. We are both working professionals, typically out of the house by 8 am during the week and back between 5 and 7 pm. On the weekends, we're often around, in between outings such as hitting up the farmers market, going on a hike with our dog, etc. Even when we are home, you may experience complete privacy if that is your wish, or friendly talk if that is better for you. Our bedroom and bathroom are in the back of the house, behind the kitchen, relatively separate from the guest suite.
We are located very conveniently in the diverse and walkable Laurel neighborhood, just steps away from shops and restaurants such as:
- Farmer Joe's (grocer and bulk foods)

Lake Merritt, the "Jewel of Oakland," is about 3 miles away, or 5-10 minutes by car. Downtown Oakland is also about a 10 minute drive.
Downtown San Francisco is about 16 miles, or 25 minutes away with light traffic. There is plenty of street parking outside our house. We are located near the I-580 and CA-13 freeways for easy access to the East Bay and greater Bay Area. You can also drive to Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in about 7 minutes, park there ($2 or $5/day), and hop on a BART train. BART trains typically run about every 10-20 minutes from Fruitvale station and will connect you to BART stations in San Francisco and around the Bay Area. From Fruitvale BART, the train ride is 17 minutes to the first San Francisco stop.
We are located 1/2 block away from bus stops serving AC transit lines around Oakland and to BART stations (14, 57) as well as an express line to and from San Francisco (NX/NX2). Additional local and express bus lines (54, 58L, NL, and NX3) stop within 5 blocks.
For travel to San Francisco, you have several options depending on the time of day and where you're headed in the city. During morning rush hour, the quickest route to downtown SF is to take the NX3 express bus non-stop (about 30 minutes). During the middle of the day, two good options are to take the NL bus direct to downtown SF, or take either bus 14 or 54 to Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station. BART trains typically run about every 10-20 minutes. From Fruitvale BART, the train ride is 17 minutes to the first San Francisco stop.
If you plan to stay out late in San Francisco, the last BART trains leave the city around midnight.

my time with Noah and Andy was wonderful! From the second they met me at the door they were warm, inviting, welcoming, and all around amazing... they went out of their way to make sure everything was pristine before I got there and that the level remained at the highest standards all week long... they really think of everything! I've never felt such genuine care and concern from two people who I've never met in my entire life.. they handled themselves with the utmost professionalism while making me feel like a lifelong friend from day one... i have to believe they are the epitome of what air bnb is all about!!! thnks so much, guys!!
Noah and Andy were fabulous hosts, from the time we arrived until our departure. They were welcoming, friendly and very helpful making our 3 weeks stay all the more enjoyable. The bed was extremely soft and quite comfortable. The bedroom and bath were separate from the rest of the living area adding to privacy. The living room, kitchen and laundry area were also available for our use which added to our comfort. The house is kept very clean. Their pets, Kala and Wesley, were an added delight. The neighborhood is quiet. Parking can be a bit challenging. We had a car so getting into San Francisco was surprisingly easy and quick most of the time. We will certainly plan to stay with them again in the future.
The hosts, Andy and Noah were very friendly and I felt welcome in their home. They made my stay in Oakland a much more pleasant one. The room and private bath were as advertised, clean and private. the neighborhood is up and coming, very diverse. The home is close to a busy metropolitan street with some nice choices for eating out. Close and convenient to public transit and walking distance from many amenities.
Noah and Andy were very kind and gracious hosts. They made me feel welcome the minute I walked in the door until the minute I left. The room had a super comfy queen bed and a new tv with Netflix and Hulu. The private room and bath offered complete privacy if that is what you pleased. I spent a couple nights hanging out with them around the fire shooting the breeze. They made me feel like a part of the house, rather than just a guest. It was a fantastic stay. I would definitely stay at their house again and would recommend the same to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, and fun place to stay.
Their dog and cat are adorable as well!!
Noah and Andy are welcoming and professional hosts. They offer an hospitable and clean home space. The bedroom & bathroom felt private and cozy. I was able to come and go as I pleased, hang out with Andy, Noah & their sweet pet companions next to the fire place, launder, use the kitchen, bathe, and use the internet. I quite look forward to staying with them again and genuinely, highly recommend a stay here to others.
It was so awesome that I extended my stay and that's why there's this second review right after the first one, haha.
