Interaction with Guests
Please take note that I'm renting out a private room in a 2-bedroom apartment. So you'll be sharing the living room, bathroom, kitchen and patio with me. I'm away most of the time for work in the city but there may be times that we'll have breakfast together.
A cozy cafe a few blocks from the apartment will be perfect for brunch: Sunrise/Sunset on 351 Evergreen Avenue. If you're willing to walk further and you like a grungy, more hipstery coffee place, try Little Skips (941 Willoughby Ave.)
Gates Avenue station is half a block away from the apartment and it takes 15 minutes to get to lower Manhattan.
It takes about an hour from JFK to get to my place by subway and about 30 mins by taxi.
If you want to take the subway, take the AirTrain to Jamaica Center (get off at Sutphin Blvd) then transfer to the J train to Gates Ave.
Please don't forget to turn off all the lights and the AC/heater unit when you leave.
Please put dirty dishes, glasses and utensils in the dishwasher.
Charisse makes a wonderful host - clear communications, quick responses and a warm greeting when we met. She was at work when I arrived, but I had no problems getting in or finding her apartment. After being on a hot, crammed subway train her place was an oasis of cool and calm - with a great rooftop patio. Everything is just as pictured, and the room is quiet (so good in NYC!). Charisse was fine about me cooking and working in the lounge area too. There's not much in the way of cafes or restaurants in the neighbourhood, so you'll want to cook or order in. There's a good supermarket down the street from the subway - Associate market - and a Walgreens across the street. All up the neighbourhood is friendly and much like Brixton (for those folks from the UK). I had a great time here and could not recommend Charisse's place enough.
The apartment was beautiful and exactly how it was described. It’s only 20 minutes away from Manhattan by Subway. The apartment was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Charisse was a welcoming host and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. She made us feel at home – Thank you ! We would definitely stay here again - highly recommended !
My girlfriend and I had a beautiful experience staying in this clean, quiet, and charming apartment. The space had everything we needed and was close to the train station and bus stops. We had no trouble getting around and were glad to stop by here after long days in the city. This was our first air bnb stay, and it couldn't have been more positive. Thank you Charisse for being so helpful and accommodating!
Very flexible for the check in.
Clean shared bathroom.
Appartement is close to Gates avenue station (ligne J) (around 35 minutes from Manhattan ).

The apartment was beautiful and exactly how it was pictured on the listing. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We had the pleasure of meeting Charisse on our last day and were able to sit and chat with her for a little. She was very sweet and lovely to chat with.
