Stay at the only property that actually borders the famous Ubud Monkey Forest...! Watch the monkeys play in the jungle right on your doorstep..!

The Space

Our cottages are quiet and secluded with no road running past your front door. All of the restaurants and conveniences of Ubud are only minutes away. You won't need a car or motorcycle...simply wander home from a delicious evening dinner and relax and take in the sounds of the jungle.

We have two self-contained cottages (Ganesha and Hanoman), each with their own kitchen; including a full sized fridge and cooking facilities.

With high speed WiFi and "bale bengongs" (Balinese gazebos), you can work, play, or stay in touch with family and friends without having to leave the garden. And our gardener will be more than happy to crack open a coconut for you should you develop a thirst..!

  • While the location is beautiful and convenient, we could not stay beyond one night out of a planned seven-day stay because the cottage was extremely dirty.

We arrived to find iguana droppings in numerous places around the bedroom - which I'm told is to be expected in Bali, but definitely not what you want to step in just after taking your shoes off at night. The floors in the other rooms felt grimy underfoot.

Worse, the toilet and sink both had solid brown coatings inside, indicating that they hadn't been cleaned in months. The shower stall had cobwebs all over it. The toilet seat had a shag cloth cover - who knows what state that was in. We didn't stick around to find out - it was bad enough that we shelled out for a hotel for the rest of our stay the very next morning.

The host himself was absent throughout the entire booking process. It seems like the management of these two listings has been delegated to a caretaker who lives nearby. He assured us that he had personally cleaned up that very morning, and I wish I could believe that.

    Response from Michael:

This guests are very unhappy to begin with. They think Bali should be like USA where they come from. Everything slick and sparkly meaning is clean. We have taken shower at the house. Everything is as clean as human can clean it...but it is NOT new like he expected because the house is not new. We clean this house very seriously and take serious care of our guests.
Geckos are part of Bali. Few geckos on the wall is part of Bali life. We know they don't have this in USA. So....if you read this review, think again. He simply NOT open minded at all to come to an ISLAND. He did not even give us a chance to fix the problems for him if there is one.
