The space

Our Rental is the first floor of this historical duplex in the downtown area of Charleston. The home is very large with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, there is a side room with a new day bed with a trundle bed underneath that give even more sleeping options. IF YOU NEED MORE ROOM ASK ABOUT RENTING THE WHOLE HOUSE FOR ROOM FOR UP TO 14 PEOPLE !!
The area is the center of the new trendy part of town close to new restaurants, breweries and music venues. The Palmetto brewery has open parties every Friday nights, also look for Edmonds Oast, Park Café, Taco Boy, Moe's Crosstown Tavern, The Royal American, Rutledge Cab Co and The Tattooed Moose.
The home is accommodating for a large family or 3 to 4 couples to share. It has a wonderful covered front porch, perfect for coffee in the morning or relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. The full kitchen and large dinning room allows for you to stay and cook in some of the local seafood, but the culinary scene of Charleston is so great, you have to experience it as much as you can!

Guest access

You have the first floor apartment all to yourself. We live in a completely separate home above. There is ample parking on the street and a spot behind the house. You have your own large front porch and we can arrange to have the back yard if you needed room for a BBQ or gathering.

Interaction with guests

We can have as much or as little interaction with guests. We are in the food and wine industry and can help with any kind of restaurant suggestion to help with craft beer tours.

The neighborhood

We are in a quieter neighborhood just above the King street area, it is one of the hottest areas of town, new restaurants and nightclubs/ music venues are popping up everyday. Look up Rutledge Cab co restaurant, Moe's crosstown tavern, Park cafe, Lee lees hot kitchen, Royal American, Tattooed Moose ( on Diners, Drive ins and Dives).
Still can easily get to King street and Market street areas of town. There is a wonderful park, Hampton Park, 1 block away that is great for walks or runs, take kids to feed the ducks or dogs to play.

Getting around

To get to the battery or lower king st by taking a short cab or uber ride ( less than $10 ) or take a free trolley. Parking downtown can be a challenge, but we have a parking spot behind the house and lots of street parking without fear of tickets.

Rental Agreement

Check in Procedures: Standard check in time is 4 pm, if we do not have guests before your arrival we can entertain an early check in, this can change up to days before. The home has lots of street parking in front of the home making it easy to unload the car if needed. We have a lock box on the right hand side of the right door on the front porch. When you flip it open you press the clear button on the bottom, then press 1980 and the open button on the top. Do the same to close it.
Supplies: We supply you with 3 rolls of toilet paper, 3 rolls of paper towels, 3 trash bags and dish soap. There is a convenience store 1 block away for further needed supplies.
Age: When making reservations please provide the total number of adults and children in your group. You must be a minimum of 25 years of age in order to rent our property. Persons under 25 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, parent or guardian during their stay. Valid identification will be requested upon check-in. Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of payments and not be allowed to check-in or possibly asked to vacate the premises.
Taxes & Fees: Each reservation is subject to a 13.5% State Sales tax, Accommodation tax and fees.
Damages: Any damages, outside of what is deemed normal wear and tear, are the responsibility of the guest. Should the guest not report damages prior to their departure or should we deem the damage to be intentional, the guest's credit card will be charged for the repair, replacement and/or cleaning.
Parties: Please inquire about hosting extra people at the homes when making a reservation, we do not mind small gatherings. Otherwise, no parties or large gatherings are permitted in our home at any time. We reserve the right to refuse rental, cancel an existing reservation or terminate occupancy without refund if, in our opinion, your actions will be detrimental to the property.
Travel Insurance: To better serve our guests, Travel Insurance is optional and offers a wide coverage for all members of your party. We strongly recommend purchasing this policy. You can find additional information and detailed description of coverage on the VRBO website.
Hurricane Policy: If mandatory evacuation of the City is ordered by a Governmental Agency, refunds will be prorated based on the nights left of your stay. Only those nights affected by the mandatory evacuation are eligible. If a hurricane occurs prior to your arrival, and we are unable to provide you with accommodations, refunds will be issued to the reservation holder.
Smoking: Our home is non-smoking. Evidence of smoking in our non-smoking home will incur a fine of $200
Linens: Linen service is included in your rental rate. All beds will be made with fresh sheets. Each guest will be provided with bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths.
Check out Procedure: Standard check out time is 11 am, prior to departing the rental, please load the dishwasher, remove all trash and place it in trash containers behind the house (green trash, blue recycling). Leave used beds unmade so we know which ones to change. Failure to depart on time, return all keys, return all furniture to its original place or remove trash can result in a fine.
Furnishings: Our home is equipped with basic items such as TV, bed spreads, pillows, cookware, flatware, glassware, microwave and coffee maker. Washer and dryer is available for your use, detergent is not provided. Prior to departure return all furniture to its original position.

I came down to Charleston with a group of 10 guys. We try to travel to a different city every few months and spend a weekend together hanging out and exploring the area. We had originally booked a house on King Street. However that house was cancelled a month and a half before our trip. We were scrambling for a new location but (not surprisingly) most owners didn't want 10 guys staying in their home (and who could blame them). After searching on Airbnb for several days, Michele and Billy answered the call and saved the day. And we were so glad they did. The house is located just a short distance away from King Street and is impeccably maintained. We fit 10 guys comfortably in the house (Michele even brought down an air mattress for us), and the amenities were top notch. The front porch was a great way to start our day and finish our nights, and you can't beat the location. More importantly, Michele and Billy were available to answer any questions we might have and gave us a ton of great recommendations for things to do. We're already talking about a return to Charleston, and Michele and Billy's place is at the top of our list. Highly recommend!!

The house looks as great as the listing pics. It was spacious enough for our family of 8. Having 2 bathrooms and laundry units were definitely a convenience. We didn't get to meet Michele in person but she checked in via email to make sure we were all set during our stay. The house is close to the highway but not really walking distance downtown waterfront (about 15 mins by car). There is a nearby park which is really great for early morning walks/jogs. Overall - great rental.

The house was exactly as pictured and in a nice neighborhood - roughly a 5-10 minute cab ride to downtown/King Street. Also within walking distance to a little coffee shop. liquor store and grocery store. Perfect for our bachelorette party of 10 girls - the house slept everyone comfortably (with 3 people sharing the King bed). House was comfortable and the porch was awesome! Michele was easy to reach and always responded promptly to questions we had.

Michelle and Billy B both came over to see how things were and if needed anything. They made themselves extremely available in case we needed anything. Their house is adorable and I would recommend both airbnb and their home to anyone looking to rent in the Charleston area.

We had a wonderful time at Michelle and Billy's home. They were very easy to communicate with in the lead up to our trip, and everything was just as pictured when we arrived. We had a great girls weekend in Charleston, and loved having such a nice home base to come back to!
