This is a daylight basement, but it's has plenty of space, good lighting, and great views. All windows face north. Kitchen sink faces Mt St Helens!
Asian theme playing off Portland's turbulent past with a network of secret pathways downtown.
This is the daylight basement to the main house. It has a separate entrance and it's own parking area. The main drawback of this space is that you will hear foot traffic from the main house above, which is why I've set the price lower to compensate.

Stacked HE machines with soap packets and fabric softener for your use.
One full bathroom with natural stone and glass blocks. Custom Chinese mosaic in heated floor. Vessel sink and bamboo faucet opposite dual flush elongated chair height toilet. 4 foot tub with shower. Tankless water heater for instant hot showers!

Interaction with Guests
I typically let guest check themselves in and out unless they want the tour. :) I don't see them during their stay unless I'm working outside on the house or landscaping.
It's a quiet and remote location that's peaceful and brilliant. Up here, we get a bit more sunshine than the lowlands, so the days are just a little bit longer.
There is no public transportation. You will require a vehicle. This is a very rural location, but it's only a 15-20 minute drive to downtown restaurants and shops as reviews also indicate.
-Smoking is not allowed in the house or where it could bother other guests. There is lots of space to smoke on grounds.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location! Brian was accommodating to our large group, which helped make our event a success. Prior to and during our stay, he was prompt, clear, and communicative. The home and its surroundings are everything we hoped for and expected based on the online description and pictures here on Airbnb. Lovely home and view in a relaxing and conveniently tucked away location just minutes from downtown Portland.
I was a little apprehensive knowing that we were going to be using the basement of the main house but I need not have worried. The light in the rooms was plentiful and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Our beds were very comfortable and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. We were a huge part of 15 people and our basement hideaway was ideal for the three of us. Thanks for a lovely two days/nights, Brian!
Brian's location is beautiful & he has wonderful taste in decorating .
The kitchen has all the pots , pans dishes so going out to eat is optional . We enjoyed being able to take our time , fix breakfast & then eat out later in the day .
We also enjoyed having the NetFlix & Amazon prime options instead of TV with all the commercials .
The beds were very comfortable , I slept like a log .
Brian is friendly and responsive if you have issues .
He is a proactive host & we appreciated his updates .
Let’s start by saying how beautiful Brian’s property is. He has a very impressive home in a lovely, estate-type setting that is private and secluded. There were four of us traveling together and the accommodations were very comfortable, we had everything we needed. Even though we stayed in the lowest level of the house we still had great views and best of all there were no other houses in sight. We had a small issue and Brian fixed it immediately, we really appreciated his great customer service.
Brian, is always responsive and this trip there was a beautiful eclipse of the moon that was spectacular from the vantage point of his property.
Staying in Brian's Shanghai Tunnel was really lovely - the space was just as the site indicated. It's true that the overhead noise is audible, but it didn't pose any issues for us. We cooked several big meals whilst staying there . . . the kitchen had enough to get by, though we needed to get creative with the pots/pans/dishware the first night. After communicating with Brain, there was a box left at the front door with additional mixing bowls, wine glasses and water glasses. We will absolutely stay again - his communication was wonderful & the location was peaceful.
Brian's house was great! Nice and spacious for the 4 of us with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with one spare room as well. The pool table was definitely a plus for us for whenever we had time to relax.
It's a good location if you're looking for a place that's not extremely far from downtown but is also in a nice area that's more quiet. The view was very beautiful. We stayed in the basement suite and the walls are a bit thin so you can hear the guests that're staying upstairs but it is bearable (he does mention this in his description so it should not be a surprise!)
Overall it was a great stay,

I'm an artist with a variety of "real" jobs. Most of these are in property management. I really enjoy making vacation and getaways and the occasional "save us while our house is being remodeled" possible.
