Modeled with one eye to a Zen tea room and one eye to a Woodsman’s cottage, this modern studio embodies the restorative and the creative (Thank you Gravitas & Green Remodel).
Here there are no disturbances. The Shed is situated in back of a serene and quiet lot at the western edge of Boise’s historic East End neighborhood. Here the crickets will sing your lullaby; warblers, wrens and sparrows your morning hymn.
Guests will enjoy the gardens, and a warm beverage, from the redwood deck perched atop native Emmett basalt stone. Mature plum and honey Locust trees distill the morning sun. If at any time you feel that you need a mental break, please make use of the meditation loft, or take a walk in our glorious foothills.

**We cannot accept pets. Yours is probably the smallest, sweetest, oldest around, and dear as can be and still we cannot accommodate them at this time. Apologies. **
The entire Shed is yours. The backyard is shared space with the occupants of the main house--a young couple, both busy psychology professors.
I live three blocks away and am easily reached as needed. I will greet you when you arrive and answer any questions you may have.
This neighborhood is unbeatable for access to all things Boise. BSU, The Foothills, The Greenbelt, Downtown, The Zoo, The Arts District, the Farmers' Markets and the Boise River are all within 1 mile.
Public transportation in Boise is terrible/non-existent. If you are here during warmer months and do not need to leave the downtown core then bicycle is the preferred method of transportation. In winter a car is fairly critical.
The bedroom is a loft accessed by vertical ladder. The stairs leading to The Shed are rough, uneven stone. If mobility is a challenge for you please consider one of our other listings in the neighborhood.

James and Elisabeth are so incredibly warm and welcoming. I did not feel like a tenant but part of their community. They created a wonderfully designed miniature home. The space is used efficiently and it encourages you to sit and spend your time well. Great access to endless hiking just a couple blocks away. You can trek to downtown on foot. Perfecto!
What a wonderful place. If you book it you will love it!
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying in The Shed for 3 months while in Boise for a school externship. James was a kind and accommodating host and The Shed fit our needs perfectly! The location is perfect, only minutes from downtown restaurants and shopping and within walking distance of excellent hiking trails. It's on a quiet, tree-lined street that encourages natural wildlife to congregate. The Shed itself is superbly built and feels much more spacious than its 10 x 20 foot measurement would have you believe. It was warm and well insulated even when the temperature dropped below zero! The Shed truly grew to feel like home and we were happy to spend a certainly memorable Thanksgiving and Christmas there. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and Boise and we know a lot of that comes from how comfortable we were in The Shed. Thank you, James, for a wonderful stay!!
Nice place, basically a tiny home. We were only there a couple days, but would have been fine staying longer. Close enough to downtown, quiet, simple, classy.
500 words may not be enough to explain the amazing experience I had staying at The Shed. First of all, James and his wife Elisabeth are tremendously kind, generous, and warm and welcoming people, in addition to be interesting and intelligent conversationalists. I felt right at home in Boise on the first day I arrived, and they went out of their way to make sure that things stayed that way. The Shed itself actually is even more spectacular than in the pictures, and is very well appointed. I really couldn't think of anything that it is missing. The space that it sits in peaceful and pristine and it was the perfect getaway for me. Pretty much everything you could want is within walking distance - the foothills, the greenbelt, downtown - and I saw lots of wildlife even in the neighborhood (watch out for deer if you are running!). If you are going to Boise, there is really nowhere better to stay. I can't recommend James and Elisabeth or The Shed highly enough.
I enjoyed the most wonderful stay at The Shed! It is so cozy and peaceful. It was everything I could have asked for and James and Elisabeth were so helpful and welcoming! I am blessed to have stayed there and met them. I hope I get the chance to come back and visit someday.
Perfect little place to stay for a trip to Boise! Close to downtown, nice, safe surroundings, comfortable and CLEAN! James is always available to help you out with anything you need-you will be well taken care of!
As soon as we pulled up James was there to greet us, helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the space. He was always accessible by cell phone for any information we may need. The space was clean, and had all the amenities one could need, as well as being beautiful. It stayed cool in the 100+ degree weather with or without the AC running. It was incredibly close and easy to find from the airport. If we are in Boise again we will certainly stay at the Studio.
Thanks James, I really enjoyed staying here. Both the location and the building were charming, the bed was comfy, and the place had everything I needed for a 4 day Boise vacation. I found the refrigerator, hot plate and convection oven more than adequate to prepare a couple meals for one or two people. I would certainly stay here again.
I stayed at the Studio for a triathlon and it was great. James was very responsive and willing to accommodate. Before arriving I asked him if there was a bike shop near by bc I would be packing my bike and needed to pump up tires. When I arrived he had a floor pump waiting for me.
The location is great. Less than a mile to downtown and 2 blocks from some great trails. It's a quiet spot and the patio is great for summer nights. Pretty awesome airbnb experience yet again.
My girlfriend and I stayed in The Shed for a weekend visit from Portland. There were two bikes available that we used a lot to travel around the city and ride along the Greenbelt. It was only about a 5 minute ride downtown or to the river. We were also near several hiking trailheads and we climbed Table Rock one morning and visited the Old Penitentiary.
The Shed itself was very nice, it had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. It was quiet at night and sunny in the day. I would recommend staying here to any of my friends that wanted to visit Boise. Thanks James!
