This comfortable apartment is located in a safe small community-feeling neighborhood totally accessible to the NYC transit system. The "A"train and busses are 1 block away alongside a lovely park frequented by children, dogs, and their guardians! Shops, services, coffeehouses and restaurants are extremely nearby. Quiet beauty abounds!
The space has a separate bedroom with full bed and an open-concept kitchen-living room-dining area including a sleep chair which accommodates a third person. The apartment is equipped for cooking. There is a meditation space in the bedroom. The bathroom has a great shower and tub. There are 2 ceiling fans and additional heaters and AC when and if needed. The artwork is predominantly original. Every attempt is made to keep a clean and accommodating space for guests and host alike.
The view from front-facing windows allows for a sense of spaciousness and nature. The culture of the building is one of quiet and respect. It's a great place to stay if this suits your needs!
Guests have access to the entire apartment and is in fact, theirs to use privately.
Either I or a friend attempt to meet the guests - if at all possible - at the time of their arrival and often at departure. I am in touch easily by email, text and phone and we are in touch as often as necessary.
I love the access to nature and beauty - the view over the Hudson River, walking across the George Washington Bridge, walking through Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters, having access to the bike and walking trail along Manhattan's west side. I love the hilliness and views from various streets since we are the highest point in Manhattan. I love the friendliness of the people and the appreciation we all have for the neighborhood. I love that I can feel outside of the city, yet be in the heart of it in 20 minutes.
The subway - "A" express train - is 1 block away and another line is within easy walking distance. Two busses are also 1 block away.
There is wi-fi in the apartment and radios but no TV. There are small speakers to hook up to your computer. All linens and towels are provided, with request for the guests to leave them in laundry basket for me at the end of their stay. There are tea and coffee makers, with various teas available but no fresh coffee! I am happy for guests to take what they need from the refrigerator or use the umbrellas, hair dryer, and other small conveniences that may be around. I would love people to enjoy their stay, to feel welcome and at home, and to take care of my home for me at the same time.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Phyllis' for 10 days.
When we arrived there, a very kind Phyllis' friend was waiting for us to hand over the key. Phyllis left us a lot of tips about where do shop, how to move and what to see on a paper in the living room.
The apartment is spacious, clean and warm, so close to 181 subway stop on line A. In the kitchen we found everything you need to cook.
Great wifi, great price, great place. I highly recommend it!
Sweet apartment, great location, solid wifi.
My mom and sister stayed at Phyllis' for 6 days when they visited us. They enjoyed the apartment greatly, and liked it better than other apartments in the area they used in the past. The location is superb, steps from the A station, the best coffee shop in the hood, and the kids' playground. Beds, kitchen, bathroom, all were fine. Even had a toaster. Phyllis is a very pleasant person to deal with, and very accommodating.
I live in the neighborhood and had family visiting. Phyliss's place was a very convenient place to host them. It was spacious and clean, and in the prime Hudson Heights section of Washington Heights, one block to the subway, shopping and restaurants. I would certainly reccommend this place and have family stay there in the future.
We enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It was clean and had all we needed. It was very convenient to the subway and in a safe, family friendly neighborhood. We could walk down to the Hudson River or up to Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters. Grocery stores and restaurants were nearby. We would definitely stay here again.
This apartment was perfect for exploring New York and really living like a local. The location in Hudson Heights was beautiful and very close to The Cloisters and Ft. Tryon Park, which very few tourists ever think to visit but which are truly two of the gems of Manhattan. Phyllis, the owner, was very easy to work with and couldn't have been more helpful. Very highly recommended!!
This was a perfect location: handy to the A train express (20 mins to Columbus Circle); shops and restaurants nearby; and a tranquil treed setting as well. The apartment was perfect, had everything we required for our short stay, and Phyllis was extremely friendly and helpful.
Phyllis was great - the apartment was great - the area was great! The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable, and only 1 block from the subway. The safe, family-friendly neighborhood was a beautiful retreat approximately a 30 minute train ride from busy midtown. We would definitely stay there again.
Phyllis was a wonderful host, and the apartment was all that she described and more. We had a wonderful stay, and would not hesitate to do so again.
Staying at Phyllis' apartment was wonderful and I felt as if I were 'coming home' each time I returned to it. Everything was beautifully organized and impeccable. Instructions on how to manage everything--laundry, kitchen appliances, etc. were clear and clearly visible. The apartment was warm and comfortable during a big NYC snowstorm. An unexpected bonus was that I had been suffering from a bad back prior to my visit and the bed, chairs, etc. were perfect. My back felt better after my stay than it before. I highly recommend Phyllis' place. It is convenient (A train to downtown NYC 2 blocks away) and very lovely. I highly recommend it.
