We had a wonderful time at Al's coffee farm. The views and location are amazing the apartment feels very high end - huge bedroom with a king bed, beautiful bathroom with double sinks, a shower and jetted tub, nice living room with large tv to relax if you are exhausted from a day at the beach. It is well off the main road and very quiet. We enjoyed having the outside kitchen. The home is set on a deep slope to access the lower one bedroom apartment. That unit might be tough if you have knee troubles. The main house above the apartment is beautiful and easier to access. We were fine with the incline to the downstairs apartment - we are in our early 60s and in good shape (at least we like to think so!). Everything was neat and clean and Al was very easy to contact for a few questions. Would highly recommend, especially if you like it quiet and enjoy amazing views! As others have noted the road to access Al's place can feel of the beaten track but that adds to the charm. Would definitely rent there again!

Albert's place was amazing. Truly one of the best Airbnb experiences that I've had. Private, beautiful, and quiet. Such a pleasure staying away from the chaos of downtown.

Beautiful- the 15-20 minute drive to kona town was worth it for the view and seclusion. So peaceful and quiet! Condo felt upscale and very classy with all wood floors and stone work in the big sexy bathroom. Would absolutely stay again!

We felt very welcome and loved our experience. We didn't really want a lot of direct interaction, but that is us. Everything about the place is as advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed and would stay there again. Two qualifications, however, for guests considering the home: One, it is quite out of the way. The road to and from is narrow and can feel a little hazardous. The "out of the way" is both good and bad, depending on your wants/needs. It takes a bit longer to go places. Not good or bad, just fact. We liked being somewhat off on our own. The other is the access from the garage to the house. It is steep and over lawn, which can be wet. Albert's property would be much enhanced with the addition of a lava rock path with steps in places. It was okay for us, though a little inconvenient. But we could imagine other people booking, only to find that the passage to and from the house would be too much. Also understand it is not air conditioned. The altitude allows things to cool off overnight, though we did purchase a small fan for the bedroom and slept well. That said, we loved the actual apartment (it is the lower of two floors.) The kitchen on the lanai was fabulous. We would love to have that bathroom in our own home, though we joked that such a shower here in the arid West could get you arrested! The privacy is perfect. But for the frogs (which bothered us not at all) the quiet is idyllic. The village up the road, Holualoa, has a great restaurant/cafe, very much worth a visit, as are several local businesses. (Don't miss the Ueshida Coffee tasting just next door, and watch for the open grill chicken guys on Saturdays over in Captain Cook.) We felt very much like we were in a home of our own in no time. We enjoyed the local critters, from wild turkeys to feral kittens. Needless to say the plant life surrounding is unparalleled. All in all, at least a 9.5 out of ten for us. I texted my Brooklyn-based editor son that if he can make it to the Big Island, we found the place where he MUST stay (with accompanying photos, of course). We think he would find it perfect. So I guess it says something that we were recommending it while we were still there. If you really want an experience that gives you a real feel for the genuine texture of the Big Island, you have found it. Enjoy it as we did. Cheers!

We stayed in the lower unit under the main house. The apartment was nice and pretty much just like the pictures as described. Staying up on the mountain was a different experience from downtown Kona. It cooled off nicely which was a nice change coming up from the beach. The views were awesome!

Albert's guest house was a dream. The coffee farm is even lovelier in person.
