Private Room in a cute 2 BR/1BA house in a great central family friendly neighborhood in Austin. 10 minutes to downtown, right next to a wonderful park (Northwest Park) with a pool and tennis courts. Close to Mopac and 35 for easy access. Great restaurants, shopping, and anything you need w/in walking/biking/short driving distance (ie. bike path along Shoal Creek, Alamo Drafthouse on Anderson, great Mexican food on Burnet, Central Market only 5 minutes away). This is my house now and was my grandmother's before me, so it's a sweet and special place. I only use the room when in town (a few times/year) so very minimal furniture and plenty of drawer and closet space if you need it. Nice patio and small backyard. Roommate is professional, clean, and fun! Seeking trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful guests for a night or a week... up to you!
Access to kitchen, fridge, living and dining room as well as your own room and shared bathroom. Outdoor patio if you want to use that as well!
Interaction with Guests
We have a unique situation in that I own and rent out the house, but don't live there, so my 'roommate' Shannon will be your on-site host, while I do all the bookings. She is professional and courteous (and fun too!) and is in and out, so you may see her a lot or a little, depending on the week.
Allandale is a gem in northwest Austin… a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood with wide streets and bike routes great for walks/runs/bike rides.
There is a bus stop on Burnet Road (about a 5 min. walk) from the house that takes you downtown. Check out the metro schedule for more info/times.
Other Things to Note
The house is old and small, but clean and comfortable, so noise does travel. If you are looking for a cave with no noise, this room is not it. But the neighborhood is quiet, my roommate is respectful, courteous, and is not loud.
No smoking. Be respectful and conscientious. period.
Kristin and Shannon were amazing at preparing me for the visit. They made sure I knew all about the room, house, and the surrounding area. I was able to easily contact them at any point. I ended up staying at a friend's hotel downtown Austin after the first night, but I still loved the place. Very easy to get to the bus station! They were fantastic at making me feel very welcome for my short stay.
Shannon was a gracious host and had me feeling right at home in no time. The home and room were what I expected from the listing, and definitely created a nostalgic mood in me that hearkened back to homes from my childhood. At first I thought the bed was a little soft, but I wound up sleeping peacefully and waking up without my usual sore back! What's that mattress?! The temps at night were near freezing outside, and I had plenty blankets to stay warm and cozy. The bathroom was a bit chilly in the early morning, but I easily stayed comfortable with slippers for the cold tile floor, and by putting a bit of hot water in the tub before showering. I'd stay again. Super convenient to my seminar location, too. Felt safe in the neighborhood.
Kristin stayed in contact with me thru the booking process to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was in a nice quiet neighborhood and was easy to find. The house was clean and cozy and the bed was comfy. My daughter and I had the whole house to ourselves as Shannon was away for the weekend. We enjoyed playing our guitars in the cozy living room. I would highly recommend this property to anyone needing a place to stay in Austin. It was awesome!
Kristin's house was peaceful and tastefully decorated. I especially liked the comfortable bed. The neighborhood is one of the nicest in Austin and walking distance to plenty of good restaurants. Shannon (Kristin's roommate) couldn't have been sweeter. Highly recommended.
The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage. The host was very accommodating to the oddities of my schedule for the weekend. All in all, a nice, quiet place to stay after a long day.
Kristin's place is a lovely, homey way to get to know Austin.
I stayed here as an Austinite to escape the ACL madness for a weekend and enjoyed my time.
It's far enough out to give you a feel for what most of residential Austin is like, but still pretty accessible to downtown and all of central Austin (15-20 minutes).
This was a great place to stay and Shannon was a wonderful host. Kristin corresponded quickly and it was effortless. The house is clean, cute and cozy. I just moved to Austin from LA, and I’m so glad I chose this instead of staying in a hotel. The neighborhood is in a great location and close to a lot of cool things. I definitely recommend staying here!
