The Space

Our house is conveniently located (less than a mile each way) between downtown Charlottesville and the University of Virginia, on a corner lot, with a garden. Downtown offers several fancy shops and restaurants while UVA's "corner" offers more affordable dining options and unique boutiques. We are located 3 close walking blocks from our neighborhood sports bar. If you are new to the area, let us know, and we would be happy to recommend some places to go.

The house is a 3 bedroom that sleeps 5 comfortably, but also has 2 comfy couches if you have a larger party. At the moment there are several greens growing in the garden, which you are free to use, along with all cooking utensils.

Off street parking is available in front of the house. If you need public transportation you don't have to walk far because there is a bus stop directly across the street.

  • We had a great stay in this comfortable and welcoming home. It is a good location - walkable to both UVA and old Main Street. We also enjoyed the big front porch which (email hidden) to hang out.

  • Amanda's home (email hidden) to spend time in Charlottesville. We rented for UVA 2014 graduation weekend, and the experience could not have been better. The location is very good, you can walk to UVA and the corner (though we drove usually). The house is clean, comfortable and everything you see in the pictures and descriptions. The wrap around porch is excellent for enjoying your down time before or after a busy day. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable and the bedrooms are large. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and parking was never a problem. I look forward to staying with Amanda again in the future.

  • Amanda has a wonderful house and was very accommodating for my family. It was seamless to get access to the house and all the essentials were available. The location is great because you can walk in one direction and you're at the Corner in 10 minutes, you walk the other direction, and you're at the Downtown Mall in 10 minutes - very convenient.

  • My friends and I stayed at Amanda's house for a wedding in April. We had a perfect experience. Amanda was super easy to work with. The house was clean and ready for us (a little earlier) on check-in day. Everything we needed was easy to find. Overall, it is a great house for a large group of people to share - with an awesome porch on which to hang out! EASY walking distance to Main Street and even the downtown mall. I highly recommend this rental in C'ville!

  • Such a fun weekend! We had a group of girls stay for a low key Bachelorette Party weekend. The house is gorgeous with a great wrap around porch and all kinds of amenities. Amanda went the extra mile during our stay--doing a quick fix when the garbage disposal decided to act up, and even giving us winery recommendations. We had an incredible experience and recommend it to everyone!

  • The Urban Homestead was everything we needed and more. The house is centrally located, close to downtown and the university. It was (email hidden) to stay for my family of five and worked perfectly for us. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, hanging out on the front porch, having three comfortable beds and two great showers. The house is well appointed, the kitchen has everything you need and we never ran out of towels. We just felt so at home there! Thank you to our wonderful hosts for sharing their warm and welcoming home. Also thank you for the pub recommendation that is 2 blocks away.

  • Lovely house, perfect accommodations for a large party. It has the comfy feel of a home away from home. Many, many thanks to Amanda and Micah for letting us stay and being so flexible/accommodating!

  • This was the perfect house for hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for 11 people! The stove was wonderful for baking and cooking, and Amanda went the extra mile for us in leaving adequate tableware and a tablecloth to accommodate our numbers. She was a five- star host in every way, and her house is warm and beautiful with very comfortable beds. A walk downtown to the shops is less than a mile, passing by Feast, a fancy bakery and Gearhart Chocolates on the way. I highly recommend this house and its fantastic host.

  • (email hidden), very tastefully decorated yet not in your face; calm yet warm. Al niceties can be found in the house including Apple TV and Cable (haven't used it so I can't vouch for bouquets).

Rooms are very comfy as are the beds. The couch proved to (email hidden) for sleeping as well.

House is walking distance from everything.

After graduating college, I took some time holed up in a house in the mountains of central VA, and tried to figure out how exactly I was going to apply my fancy degree to life. In order to not be completely broke after college I took a job in the restaurant industry. Initially what started off as a way to have quick, easy income, has turned into somewhat of a career. I fell in love with food (both eating and cooking), and the science of baking in particular. I have started a custom cake business, Panda Cakes, and work as a bartender a few nights a week at place that emphasizes craft cocktails with fresh, local, and homemade ingredients. It's at that job where I met my other half, Micah. M and I have shared passion in delicious food (especially tacos) and booze. We love booze, not in a "lets take shots and get hammered" way, but in a way that a chef may approach a Food Network Chopped challenge or just cooking in general. For those who don't know what that is, basically we like to take fresh, in season ingredients and use them to complement and enhance the flavors of liquor. For an idea of what we do, you can check out M's blog (website hidden). He's pretty awesome. We also love traveling, but don't love flying. I like to think we're pretty lucky to live where people want to come vacation, but we are so close to amazing day trips. So any time we have 2 days off together (a rarity), we head out to Warm Springs or a vineyard or a hike. Holy crap, I love my dog. LOVE her. Like even just looking at her, it hurts how much I love her. Her name is Cayda Bella and she is possibly the worlds smallest full grown boxer. Her passions include rawhide chews (I think she loves them as much as I love her), frosty paws, and snuggling. She is one of the cuddliest dogs I have ever had. I'm going to cut myself off here because I could go all day... This is it for now....
