Austin Creekside Retreat sits on a two-acre forest of towering redwood trees at the end of a ¼ mile private gated road. The property includes 1,000 feet of creek frontage on lazy Austin Creek.
Austin Creekside Retreat's architecture is reminiscent of a Japanese country house, with all natural fir and pine finishes. Totaling 1,450 square feet with a ceiling that soars to 16 feet, the house contains authentic antiques of pine and oak.
The deck that wraps two sides of the house is expansive. Inside, there are 2 bedrooms, both with Queen beds, and a loft with 2 twin beds. There is one bathroom with a tub/shower combination, plus an outside shower. This is truly the place to escape -- while there are 2 TVs with DVD and VCR, there is no cable or internet. Other amenities include gas barbecue, wood burning fireplace and CD player. The site also has a rustic cabin, remaining from the old Girl Scout Camp, where rubber rafts are now stored. Children and well-behaved dogs are very welcome here.

We had a fabulous time at this Austin creek side cabin! The house was cozy, had everything we needed and the large hot tub and outdoor shower were great. The photos do not do this magical place justice. It is surrounded by towering redwoods and has a private access to the lovely creek and beach. We had lots of plans to explore the area and ended up never leaving the property! We swam and laid in the sun all day and then grilled and ate delicious meals on the deck in the evening. Also the rental agency was very attentive to our needs and made the whole process smooth. I will definitely be returning!
Great place! Me and my friends had a fantastic stay at the cabin. Perfect location if you want some peace and quiet.
Beautiful Setting Indeed! I spent my birthday weekend up here and loved it. Great location and access to Jenner and local beaches. Very dog friendly which made my pup super happy. Staff from River Homes was very helpful in helping us decide what to do, where to eat, ect. A bit of a splurge with the cleaning, tax, and airbnb fees but worth it for some quality RnR.
Our family had a lovely, long weekend getaway at this cabin in early January. The home was very peaceful - surrounded by redwoods trees with no neighbors in sight - and just the sound of the creek off of the deck. Our afternoons were spent exploring the quaint towns along the Russian River and the beautiful Sonoma Coast, but we were delighted to retreat back to the cabin each evening to build a fire, read books, cook, and enjoy the hot tub under the stars. The cabin has soaring ceilings and an open layout, is simple in design, yet comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are pretty dated, but that didn't bother us (we enjoyed flipping through the cookbooks from the 70's :). The hosts were very communicative and gave us great recommendations for the area. Overall, it was a wonderful place to decompress and unplug from city life and we would love to return someday.
The cabin was great!! We had a great time, cabin was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and the beds were comfortable.
Thanks for a good time.
This place is a gem! It was the perfect, comfortable, isolated, off-the-grid, relaxing get away I wanted for my 40th birthday celebration. If we closed our eyes, we felt like we were camping; but the amazing hot tub, fully stocked kitchen, and super comfortable beds reminded us we were experiencing nature in luxury. As previous reviews have said, the photos don't do it justice - a lot as been updated. I highly recommend this spot, and River Homes was full of information and super friendly on arrival and departure.
This home is beautiful and has everything you need for a relaxing stay.
One of the most cozy and welcoming homes we have visited in California.
We are definitely considering coming back.
The hosts were wonderful, they provided us with easy to follow instructions about the house and how to get there.
If you are looking to really escape reality, this is a good place, since there is no wi-fi or tv.
The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, the house is very spacious.
I highly reccomend it!
