Room in a farm stay

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
The listing is for a room in a restored pre civil war farmhouse on Crickenwood Farm. Guest rooms are in the main farmhouse and share the common areas of the kitchen, library, living room and great room. Vaccination for Covid19 is required.

This is a small working farm with cows and horses. There is plenty of parking. There are several friendly dogs on the property. The farm is about an hour from Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Harpers Ferry, WV and Gettysburg, PA. Frederick, MD is 20 mins.

The space
Silhouette Room: Bedroom with Queen size memory foam bed in the older part of the house that overlooks the front porch. It's about 35' from the two bathrooms. It has an electric fireplace. A cot can be added. Accommodates two.

Each room has a folder with brochures, maps and instructions for using the wireless internet. Each room has a microwave, small refrigerator and a safe.

TV streaming services and movies can be viewed in the Kitchen, Library or indoor theater in the Great Room. We are 35 miles to either Baltimore or Washington DC. North are Gettysburg, PA, Antietam, MD, and Frederick, MD. The farm is a couple of miles from New Market, MD "Antiques Capital of Maryland". Check Frederick websites for "what-to-see-and-do" and links to local parks, historical locations, breweries, wineries, shopping, art galleries, and entertainment.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to share the Indoor theater in the Great Room, the library, kitchen, wrap around porches and patio. Guests are expected to clean up after themselves in the common areas.

To use RV parking make requests in advance. We only have one 30 amp outlet.

For guests to entertain friends in the common areas, especially the kitchen or BBQ, please ask permission in advance so there are no conflicts.

The laundry is available for guest use with the condition you are considerate of others using the washer/dryer and don't handle their laundry in a manner you wouldn't want someone else to handle yours. Also there is a clothesline off the side porch.

The pool is a stock tank pool and just for cooling off and relaxing. It's only 2' deep and 12' across. We open it up when we can and close it when we decide it's too cool.

During your stay
Hosts are present at the initial night of the guest's stay and usually during the entire stay. We tend to leave guests to themselves unless they request us to do otherwise. Most people have told us they are coming to the country for some peace and quiet and to get away from it all. We respect their desire to do that.

Other things to note
Please no people with bad allergies or afraid of friendly dogs.

We are retired from the professional world. Children mostly gone but nearby. Raised with dogs, sheep, cows and horses. Norma knits & sews as time permits. Patrick hunts, builds furniture, collects antiques. We both like to travel independently. Guests tend to come here to relax and unwind so we offer them assistance only if they ask for it. We are convenient for day trips to Gettysburg, Frederick, Harpers Ferry, Washington, DC & Baltimore.
