Cozy little cabin in Guerneville, a hate free community in the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country! Enjoy both natural beauty and culinary decadence in the region named #2 wine destination in the world by Tripadvisor in 2012.
This is a modest, clean, functional home with original art throughout. The open floor plan, gas faux-wood burning stove, and hardwood floors give you both the joy of a country cabin and comfort and convenience of uncluttered, fully furnished space.
Let me know about any dietary restrictions that you have, I like to leave the kitchen stocked with locally grown and made goodies for your breakfast!
The entire two bedroom, one bathroom home, back Sun deck, and private parking spaces in front of the home.
There is a combination keypad lock, the combo to which I change between guests and send you in advance so that you are able to let yourself in. I am always available via telephone to answer any questions, as well as help you with any aspect of your stay that you wish. I am sometimes available to check you in personally, upon request. I split my time between Guerneville and San Francisco, so myself or my girlfriend Trish may be staying in the second unit on the property while you are there or we may not. Sometimes Trish works in the garage during the day, so you may see her in passing. You are ensured privacy and exclusive access to the front unit.
Guerneville is only 15 miles to the coast, and the gorgeous hiking trails of the Sonoma Coast state park and Goat Rock Beach. Armstrong Woods state park which is home to redwood trees over 1,000 years of age is right in Guerneville. There are several Russian River beaches with swimming holes within ten minutes driving from the house.
The town has a thriving and prominent LGBTQ community which is very inclusive of everyone, not just people who are LGBTQ themselves. It makes Guerneville a comfortable and relaxing place to be you, whoever you happen to be. It really is a "hate free community" as our town welcome sign states.
We are very close to the wine trails leading from West Sonoma to Dry Creek and Healdsburg. The house is a beautiful 30 minute drive from two of my favorite tasting rooms, Porter Creek and Iron Horse.
Restaurants in town that we love are the Garden Grill for basic breakfasts or casual BBQ (this is easy walking distance from the house) and Boon is consistently delicious. Next to Boon you'll find the Korean-fusion pop-up which makes a great burger and fries! A 30 minute drive down the winding Bohemian highway to the town of Occidental brings you to Howards the absolute best brunch spot around, with delish gluten-free waffles, traditional and locally inspired benedicts, a full menu of healthy juices and smoothies, and more.
Country Dan hosts Karaoke 5 nights a week in town, the crowd at the Triple R is always welcoming and jovial. (website hidden) has his schedule. The famous Rainbow Cattle Company is another very friendly night life environment with a great mix of locals and visitors, pool table, and back patio.
We have a yoga studio, nail salon, and an esoteric new-age learning center in town- what more do you need?!
This home is easy taxi distance to and from town.
There is plenty of private parking at the house.
Sonoma County Airport (STS) is a 30 minute drive on beautiful country roads to and from Guerneville, there are rental cars available at the airport. The airport is small and efficient, with daily flights on Alaska to LAX and SEA/TAC as well as PDX.
The home is currently undergoing exterior cosmetic renovations Jan-August 2014. Work will not be occurring during your stay and does not effect the comfort of the interior, however note the discounted price because of ugly things happening outside!
All Sonoma County codes and tax regulations are followed and taken care of.
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Irene's place. We needed a couple of days away from the city for a creative retreat and this was just the right place for it. The place is clean and cozy and all the art work inspired our creativity. Plus, we were so well cared for - coffee and tea and fresh eggs, bread, and fruit (and more!) left for us in the kitchen. We didn't even have to leave the house...we got so much work done. We'd definitely come back. Thanks Irene!
Awesome host. Great place. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I really enjoyed my stay at Irene's house with my dog Sugar. The house was charming and had everything we needed to be warm, comfortable and relaxed (loved the fireplace as it made it very homey). It's located in a quiet neighborhood that was close to town which made for a nice walk as we explored the area by foot. Irene was very responsive any questions I had which I really appreciated as well. If I happen to be coming through your area any time soon, I would love to stay again.
Irene was a wonderful host. Her house was comfy (beds too!), safe, secure, and very conveniently located to downtown. I would stay here again.
Here's more detail.....I loved that the door was coded to my phone number so it was impossible to get locked out. Huge PLUS! The house provided all the basics, coffee, salt/pepper, cooking oils (veg not included), pots/pans, utensils, and so on. The listing is soooooo reasonably priced that I thought for sure something was going to be off. And it wasn't. The beds were very comfy, shower had great water pressure and temp, the house was warm, no tv or dvd player was ok, and it was really quiet.
Irene herself gave us wonderful suggestions on hikes, areas of interest, and terrific restaurants. I suggest Boon and Big Bottom for sure. Unlimited Flavors Ice Cream was tasty too.
I would definitely stay here again.
My boyfriend and I booked Irene's place for a Valentine's Night getaway. Her place is so perfect, clean, and stylish. It has all your cooking utensils and basic cooking needs. Irene was so sweet and left us fresh baked bread, chocolate, water, and other drinks. She is so easy to communicate with and responds to and question you have very promptly. We loved our stay here, and will be recommending her place to our friends who would like to getaway, we are even planning on coming back ourselves in the future! I have nothing but positive recommendations about Irene and her place!
Irene was awesome! We had a crazy rain all weekend that flooded the streets and she even offered to refund our stay in case we wanted to leave early. The beds were super comfy!
Irene and her house made up pretty much the perfect Airbnb experience. The place was spotless and just as described and photographed, the kitchen was abundantly stocked with everything we needed, and gaining access was a snap with keyless entry -- no coordinating with host needed!
Thanks, Irene -- we'd happily recommend you and your place to anyone, and can't wait to return!
What a fantastic place for our quick stay in Guerneville. We booked for a night and immediately wished we could stay longer. The open floor plan, the eclectic art, the fireplace...we found everything charming. Irene was a great host. She was very easy to get a hold of, was extremely accomodating, had the place spotless when we arrived and even left us some goodies. I highly recommend!!
Cozy and private! Enjoyed my stay, very close to the down town and Safeway! One thing that we had to do was to reset the fuse switch for kitchen and rooms as power turns off when too much electric devices are turned on. Maybe for safety. There is a key to enter garage downstair where the fuse box is located at.
Thank you for the feedback, you and your family were great guests. I am so sorry for the inconvenience! As I said in our correspondence and in the welcome letter warning you, I just discovered that the fuse is overloaded and it currently shuts off if multiple appliances/ space heaters are running simultaneously. My electrician will be fixing it this week so it won't be a problem for you all or anyone else in the future. Again, my apologies for this hassle. I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay in spite of this problem and I hope you enjoyed your time in Guerneville in general as well. Thanks!
Irene was so great! She is very quick to respond and provides great instructions and details to get you in and comfortable in her space. The place is really cute and in a great location when you're up in the Russian River Area. We really enjoyed our stay there. Thanks Irene!
