The house is situated in the old village called Velika Nedelja (meaning Big Sunday), so every day you spend here will feel like a Sunday. Big hedonistic Sunday ;)
This country house has just been renovated, because my mother Darja wanted to make this a beautiful memory of her parents, as they use to live here during the summer months. Therefore we named it THE HOUSE OF JULIANA&HINKO.
The house is old (probably from the early 1900s), with two large bedrooms and one small one, renovated kitchen and bathroom and a wooden porch. It is surrounded by a huge piece of land and with the view of the old castle and church from the two East facing bedrooms.
When you are here, some say, their body wants to feel lazy, others feel more active than ever.
For the active people, two bicycles are waiting in the garage, the train stations is 3 minutes and 45 seconds close (to go for a 20 minute train ride to the oldest town in Slovenia- Ptuj) and the taxi driver could drive blindfolded to the wine street of Jeruzalem - so you are taken care of ;)
You got kids? They want to ride a donkey? Or play tennis? We got it all.
Pool on the property? Next year ;) But you got bio thermal baths really close - just a 20 minute drive. They are in the middle of green nowhere but exquisite ;)
Oh, one last thing - don't be surprised when the locals great you when they pass you by - this is just an old tradition and you'll love it (don't worry, we'll teach you the words even in the right dialect ;)
It will make you feel like you're in a different universe. Compare this to "don't look strangers in the eye-advice-from the London Metro" ;)
Please, do look in the eyes and the hearts of the locals and the countryside as much as possible! The House of Juliana & Hinko holds great memories for all of us and by adding yours it will become an even more special place.
Please, enjoy and inhale the time you have there.
Remember, this is an old house, so not everything is perfect.
Respect the house - it is (was) a home.
