Surrounded by beautiful countryside, our home is steeped in history but boasts all the modern luxuries of 21st century life. The bedrooms and their en-suites are all very spacious with delightful views - either to the south over paddocks and farmland or to the north over the stable-yard towards Hadrian's Wall.
The Pele Tower Room has its own 14th century stone, spiral staircase for those who fancy a walk in the footsteps of our late Middle Age forebears. With a king-size bed and a full size single day bed, this room comfortably sleeps three or even a family of four. Couples find that its spacious features make it a great choice for lengthier stays. The large TV and DVD player, along with plentiful hot drinks and snacks, encourage our guests to linger longer.
The South Room also has a king-size bed, single bed, large TV and a bathroom en-suite - again a great choice for families or couples who want a bit more space. This one can also be used as a twin room or for single occupation.
The Reiver Room has a very comfortable double bed, TV with integral DVD facility and an impressively powerful shower en-suite.
All rooms contain a well stocked hospitality tray / hamper and toiletries. They are furnished with sensitivity and equipped to suit the modern traveller.
This is a family home welcoming families of all shapes and sizes, from the very youngest (thick walls = good soundproofing!). Quality, not quantity, is our aim.
Couples and single travellers delight in the space and facilities on offer.
As well as your own spacious bedroom with its en-suite bath or shower room, there is a very comfortable guest sitting room adjacent to the bedrooms.
Lovely country walks from our doorstep, along marked footpaths. Hadrian's Wall close by and many tourist features within easy reach.
Horses and ponies available for petting and Muffin (our Lhasa Apso) is almost always keen for a cuddle - if you are so inclined! Jemima, the pet sheep, also loves attention.
A horse ride may be possible depending on Olivia's commitments.

My wife and I had a simply amazing time with Carole. The room was in a 15th century tower keep, but still had every comfort we could want. The setting was incredible with views of Hadrian's Wall to greet us in the morning. Carole and her family were incredibly friendly and the breakfast was delicious and more plentiful than we could handle. Strongly recommend.
We had a fantastic stay and only wished we could have stayed longer! The house is beautiful and the Pele Tower was superb – I can honestly say that the pictures don’t do it justice for how lovely it is. Carole and her family were wonderful and couldn’t have been more welcoming and kind. Carole gave us great recommendations of places to visit, the best walks along Hadrian’s Wall and local pubs for dinner. The house is in a great location for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and you can even see some of the wall from bedroom. The breakfasts were amazing – plenty of selection, fresh local food and lots of it. I can whole-heartedly recommend staying here.
Superb accommodation in a beautiful house.
Carole is a fantastic host. Good communication beforehand and excellent directions to help find the property. Very quiet tranquil location with great views. Ideally situatiated for a stop over near Carlisle or for exploring the history of Hadrians Wall with two walks directly from her front door!
Carole, John, Olivia, John, and Muffin, greeted us warmly. We had coffee, tea, cakes, and a heartfelt chat. The pictures and description were accurate. If anything, they were understated. Their warmth continued throughout. The accommodations with wonderful amenities plentiful. Large bedrooms. Fresh cut flowers in every bedroom.
We had a view of Hadrian's wall from bedrooms. (Binoculars on the window sill are one example of thoughtful extras.) Carole and John are caring, genuine people, who strive to please in every way. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
