Sharing the house with up to 3 adults and a large friendly golden doodle (doesn't shed).
I was immediately led in and shown around, and made to feel extremely welcome. The house and accommodations were very much as advertised, and extremely comfortable. The house certainly met, and probably exceeded my expectations. The neighborhood was very pleasant and within a few blocks of where I needed to be for my stay in St. Paul.
We had a delightful stay with Sandra and her family. We stayed for a week to look for housing. Our hosts helped so much with tips about neighborhoods. We had a few free days and again our hosts had great suggestions about things to do. We had wonderful conversations. Sandra was very hospitable and helpful. Her house is charming and comfortable.
It was almost like coming home to be back with the Pennings. There is something at once lively yet calm and quieting in sharing their lives. Regretted having missed a concert in which both of them sang but looking forward to returning to again have time together.
Rick was great! Turned out we knew some people in common even though I came from afar! I was visiting Macalester college and this was very convenient. While it was a very quick overnight stay it was very comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. The late night cookies and granola, yogurt and fruit salad breakfast with coffee were wonderful. The area was residential, safe and lots of street parking. Thanks Sandra and Rick!
Great neighborhood, lovely house, and very accommodating, interesting, and friendly hosts -- Sandy and Rick. I took a "red-eye" flight, arriving in St. Paul at 5:30 AM, to attend a seminar beginning at 1:00 PM. Sandy VERY graciously agreed to let me show up on their doorstep early in the morning, met me at the door in her bathrobe, and allowed me to sleep in my room prior to my conference - although I wasn't officially booked until that evening. Great directions to get in and out of the house, felt very secure. Overall great. Can't comment on the breakfast part of the B and B because I'm a committed organic food gal, no gluten, minimal refined carbs, etc...so wouldn't generally partake of B and B breakfasts.
Sandy contacted me several time before I arrived to make sure it was all clear and I knew when to arrive and how to get in. The house was as it was described online.
About the Host, Sandra
We are a family of passionate travelers and enjoy everything from international big city adventures to skiing in the mountains or camping in the woods. We have traveled frequently with our "boys" (now 21 and 26) so you may find one or both of them joining us on an adventure. We are also a family of musicians -- three opera singers and a cellist -- so often travel to see performances. We are accustomed to exploring with little assistance so are low maintenance guests. We are just travelers for the moment, but hope to become hosts in the future.
