Sharing the house with up to 3 adults and a large friendly golden doodle (doesn't shed).
Sandra and Rick were wonderful! They waited up for us as our flight was late. The directions were a bit difficult due to construction but we made it to their beautiful home in no time! Sandra and her Goldendoodle Pucci greeted us and showed us to our room. We sat out on their screened in patio, drinking wine and unwinding! Breakfast was AMAZING!!! Sandra made us coffee from fresh ground beans, blueberry pancakes and decadent bacon . The place settings were handmade by Rick and were beautiful. If you are going to the Twin Cities you must stay with Rick and Sandra!
When I arrived the front door was open and the hosts were eager to greet me. Being sensitive to the fact that it had been a long trip and I needed to eat and prepare for conference the next day the hosts showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the residence, directed me towards local restaurants I might prefer that were a close walk from the residence.
The accommodations were very comfortable and tech friendly, exactly what the listing described. The patio and garden were lovely.
The neighborhood is quiet and very safe. I walked often , but when I wanted to see some of the surrounding area, public transportation access was very easy and close to the residence.
The hosts provided recommendations for restaurants and attractions that were local gems. I'm sure I would have missed without the recommend from my gracious hosts.
They do have a furry family member. He is a standard size dog, but very very sweet playful. He is well trained, but retains his puppy playfulness.
I was immediately led in and shown around, and made to feel extremely welcome. The house and accommodations were very much as advertised, and extremely comfortable. The house certainly met, and probably exceeded my expectations. The neighborhood was very pleasant and within a few blocks of where I needed to be for my stay in St. Paul.
We had a delightful stay with Sandra and her family. We stayed for a week to look for housing. Our hosts helped so much with tips about neighborhoods. We had a few free days and again our hosts had great suggestions about things to do. We had wonderful conversations. Sandra was very hospitable and helpful. Her house is charming and comfortable.
It was almost like coming home to be back with the Pennings. There is something at once lively yet calm and quieting in sharing their lives. Regretted having missed a concert in which both of them sang but looking forward to returning to again have time together.
About the Host, Sandra
We are a family of passionate travelers and enjoy everything from international big city adventures to skiing in the mountains or camping in the woods. We have traveled frequently with our "boys" (now 23and 28) so you may find one or both of them joining us on an adventure. We are also a family of musicians -- three opera singers and a cellist -- so often travel to see performances. We are accustomed to exploring with little assistance so are low maintenance guests.
We have been hosts since fall 2013 and have enjoyed our guests from around the world. Our "puppy" Puccini love the extra attention of our many guests.
