  • Great location. Very cool rooftop patio and lounge area with jacuzzi above back garage/studio space. The rooftop area is over an occupied studio that is also a separate space with a private back patio separating two living spaces.

The house itself is charming but does not sleep 6 as advertised. It is a 2 bed, 1 bath: master and smaller second bedroom
for small kids or 1 adult. Host provided air mattress to compensate for smaller bed and pull out couch in living room as options.

Also, travelers be wary host lives there so there are no extra dressers for clothes and things. The fridge/freezer pretty full so bring coolers or plan accordingly. The studio in back was not listed as part of rental option but would be the perfect space for a second couple ( extra bathroom, shower, tv-cable, sink)

I think the space is cute and would be awesome if the occupied studio were part of package rental deal going forward. It was very pricey for the set up as advertised without the studio for 4 adults and kid.

    Response from Lisa:

I knew when you we received your note after check in that our place is "roots", that you would be feel at home in our home! I was a bit surprised however that you felt our 2nd bedroom was too small since it has a standard size double bed as (website hidden) addition, when you called asking if you could use our studio space which was vacant at the time, and I asked for a small extra charge ($50), and then lowered the price to $25 you didn't want it. When I told you that we had interested renters for the studio you were upset that anyone would be back there (although it was advertised as an occupied guest house). I then offered to let you just use the studio free of charge, refusing plentiful offers for New Year's Eve rentals since you were paying holiday prices for our home and I wanted you to be happy. And still the studio remained unused... nonetheless, I'm really glad you enjoyed our home and roof deck!

  • My wife and I stayed here over 4th of July and we had such a great time. A short distance to both the beach and the marina and easy walking to Abbot Kinney and the rooftop hot tub was nice to come home to after walking all day. Overall our experience was great the house is charming and fits perfectly with Venice Beach. We would go back if we plan another trip to the beach.

  • Great jacuzzi and deck situation! We had a dinner for a couple friends and grilled out -- made wonderful use of the tiki bar and lounging area! Lisa was lovely and very helpful. Very eclectic house that feels like you are tucked away in your own bungalow removed from the traffic life of LA. Great location. Beautiful, clean home with charm. I would recommend the home to a friend looking for a place in LA.

One thing to note, that was not a problem for us, but just something to be aware - Lisa's mother lives right across back yard in the mother in law suite below the jacuzzi/roof deck area. She did not mind having us up there past dark and doesn't seem to be bothered by noise as she is older and hard of hearing - but it is something worth knowing before renting the house.

  • It was a very nice stay at Lisa's house! Very comfortable home. We used the jacuzzi on top of the garage; very nice! Good view of the stars at night from up there.

Lisa was very accomodating, exchanging emails promptly with me, as we had questions during the stay. And she was wonderful about letting us use virtually anything in the house; for example, we used the coffee grinder and French press every day.

I would definitely stay here again on a trip to the LA area. Thanks, Lisa, for your hospitality!

  • Our stay at Lisa's had it's ups and downs. The house is in an excellent location in Venice. Close to Abbot Kinney's shops and restaurants and close enough to walk to the beach. While Lisa herself was very friendly and accessible by phone and email, we found the house to be less accommodating. To begin with there were ants in the kitchen upon our arrival, the house was incredibly dusty and there were dirty dishes left in the dishwasher by the previous guests.

Our main issue lied in the fact that we weren't alerted until one week before our stay that Lisa's mom was staying in the back house. This is information we would have loved to be privy to when deciding to book the house. We were not bothered by her mom it was more the people visiting her mom during the day and on the weekend. There were kids playing in the backyard with toy trucks, people parking in our spot in the driveway or walking through the driveway at night unexpectedly. It felt as if we did not have the privacy we had hoped for upon booking a vacation house.

  • Lisa was extremely accommodating and easy to deal for my last minute booking. Her cottage is lavishly mood lit to create a cosy, inviting place - perfect after a long plane ride into L.A. Both bedrooms are cosy, the second being one of the most exquisitely designed kid's room that would make an Art Director blush. All in all, I would love to stay at Lisa's place again when I'm back in L.A

  • Great quiet location, not too far of a walk to the beach and a cool strip of shops and restaurants on Abbot Kinney, and of course the canals. Really hard to believe you're so close to all of the madness as you're walking down the street, could be in any small beach town up and down the coast.

It's not for someone looking to get too crazy, but for a low-key, laid back Venice weekend, it was perfect.

  • Lisa is a wonderful person she really made me and my friends feel like we were at home. Her home was very beautiful and very clean. If you are looking for a place to stay in Venice I highly recommend this location.
