About This Listing
Montpelier and Stokes Croft are vibrant and quirky and my Bird house is a little haven just down the hill from it all. The double room is comfy, spacious and provides a perfect retreat from a nice dose of Bristol culture.
The house is situated right in the heart of Montpelier. Across the street are Bell’s Diner and the Thali Café, both award winning restaurants. With the delicious Mela Indian takeaway and Herberts bakery only a stones throw from the house! It takes only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Bristol through the vibrant streets of Stokes Croft.
You can help yourself to fresh coffee and a good selection of teas in the morning. The bakery always has fresh bread and croissants every morning but it’s always a good idea to arrive before 9am!
Interaction with Guests
I usually work from home or my studio which is only a 5 minute walk from my house so will be in and out throughout the day.
My neighbourhood is so friendly and there is always something going on within a 5 minute walk away- lots of live music and good food.
The train station is a 3 minute walk from my house with trains leaving every 20 mins to half an hour. The bus station is also very close- just a 10 minute walk from Stokes Croft.
Other Things to Note
I hope staying in the birdhouse will be a unique and exciting experience with lots of weird and wonderful art work on the walls and the best of Bristol's culture right outside the door!
It is important to mention that Picton Street is a vibrant and lively part of Bristol and can sometimes be a little noisy on the street outside during the weekend.
I like guests to feel at home and help themselves to tea and coffee. Please wash up after yourselves though. We are used to smokers (both my lodgers smoke) but only outside please.
My friend and I had a lovely weekend in Bristol staying at the Bird House. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Alex as she was busy preparing for an upcoming event but her partner Paul was very hospitable and gave us great tips on local places to visit. We enjoyed spotting Alex's work in the local neighbourhood as everything is within easy reach of her house on foot. It's quite a lively area so not really suitable for light sleepers - a lovely property and very unique.
Very lovely houses and surrounding area. 5 minutes walk to the city center. Alex and Paul were really nice host.
The Bird House is a very welcome and friendly place to stay. Alex and Paul make you feel comfortable. You have your own bathroom and a good room. I strongly recommend it. And take a time to visit Bristol, it is a pleasure.
When I got there Alex was so welcoming, she made sure I had everything I needed. She helped me out by giving me details for the local taxi company and gave me a tour of the house. As she was going away for the weekend I didn't see her after that but felt comfortable in the house. She has a really unique house full of her artwork which was great to look at. The room was big and the bed comfy. I drove and managed to park on the roads nearby easily. The only thing I would say is the road outside was noisy until the early hours of the morning so if you're a light sleeper this could be an issue. Otherwise this was a great stay at a really reasonable price. Thanks Alex!
Host made us feel very welcome very easy going and informative about the area
The Bird House is one of a kind and it was a very unique experience to stay here. We now know what our future dream home will look like! The Bird House is filled with character and very charming, it is lovingly decorated with so much art and the most incredible collection of books. Alex is a superb host and makes you feel right at home. She is very warm & welcoming and great for a chat about the local area and its history & culture and she is able to offer plenty of useful advice & recommendations. It is quite special to spy Alex's murals adorning the nearby streets and seeking them out is an ideal way to explore the close by Montpelier, Stokes Croft & Old City. It was tremendously inspiring to be surrounded by so much creativity & talent and we felt our stay at The Bird House perfectly captured the essence of Bristol. It is a treasured memory and we hope to return again soon to make many more. This is truly airbnb at its absolute finest.
