About This Listing
Montpelier and Stokes Croft are vibrant and quirky and my Bird house is a little haven just down the hill from it all. The double room is comfy, spacious and provides a perfect retreat from a nice dose of Bristol culture.
The house is situated right in the heart of Montpelier. Across the street are Bell’s Diner and the Thali Café, both award winning restaurants. With the delicious Mela Indian takeaway and Herberts bakery only a stones throw from the house! It takes only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Bristol through the vibrant streets of Stokes Croft.
You can help yourself to fresh coffee and a good selection of teas in the morning. The bakery always has fresh bread and croissants every morning but it’s always a good idea to arrive before 9am!
Interaction with Guests
I usually work from home or my studio which is only a 5 minute walk from my house so will be in and out throughout the day.
My neighbourhood is so friendly and there is always something going on within a 5 minute walk away- lots of live music and good food.
The train station is a 3 minute walk from my house with trains leaving every 20 mins to half an hour. The bus station is also very close- just a 10 minute walk from Stokes Croft.
Other Things to Note
I hope staying in the birdhouse will be a unique and exciting experience with lots of weird and wonderful art work on the walls and the best of Bristol's culture right outside the door!
It is important to mention that Picton Street is a vibrant and lively part of Bristol and can sometimes be a little noisy on the street outside during the weekend.
I like guests to feel at home and help themselves to tea and coffee. Please wash up after yourselves though. We are used to smokers (both my lodgers smoke) but only outside please.
Alex was really a wonderful host ! Her house is super lovely, we love all the paintings and decorations around the house. The bed is super comfortable. The garden also is very nice. We really felt like home during our stay there. The area of the house is also wonderful, many cafes and restaurants. I'm sorry I had to leave in the middle of the night to catch my flight, I think it was loud and sorry if this woke you up Alex ! We really enjoyed the conversations we had and definitely will stay here again next time we are back in Bristol!
Loved this house! I was painted by the creative mind of Alex who furnishes her home with awesome pieces of art and books. My stay was quite comfortable.
great place, inspiring location, most likeable host, interesting people around - only our stay was to short ... we would like to come back. Thanks for the pleasant time in Bird House
My friend and I had a lovely weekend in Bristol staying at the Bird House. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Alex as she was busy preparing for an upcoming event but her partner Paul was very hospitable and gave us great tips on local places to visit. We enjoyed spotting Alex's work in the local neighbourhood as everything is within easy reach of her house on foot. It's quite a lively area so not really suitable for light sleepers - a lovely property and very unique.
Very lovely houses and surrounding area. 5 minutes walk to the city center. Alex and Paul were really nice host.
The Bird House is a very welcome and friendly place to stay. Alex and Paul make you feel comfortable. You have your own bathroom and a good room. I strongly recommend it. And take a time to visit Bristol, it is a pleasure.
