About this listing
Montpelier and Stokes Croft are vibrant and quirky and my Bird house is a little haven just down the hill from it all. The double room is comfy, spacious and provides a perfect retreat from a nice dose of Bristol culture.
This is the room you will be staying in. There is a large comfy double bed with my screen-printed lampshades!
The house is situated right in the heart of Montpelier. Across the street are Bell’s Diner and the Thali Café, both award winning restaurants. With the delicious Mela Indian takeaway and Herberts bakery only a stones throw from the house! It takes only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Bristol through the vibrant streets of Stokes Croft.
You can help yourself to fresh coffee and a good selection of teas in the morning. The bakery always has fresh bread and croissants every morning but it’s always a good idea to arrive before 9am!
Interaction with Guests
I usually work from home or my studio which is only a 5 minute walk from my house so will be in and out throughout the day.
My neighbourhood is so friendly and there is always something going on within a 5 minute walk away- lots of live music and good food.
The train station is a 3 minute walk from my house with trains leaving every 20 mins to half an hour. The bus station is also very close- just a 10 minute walk from Stokes Croft.
Other Things to Note
I hope staying in the birdhouse will be a unique and exciting experience with lots of weird and wonderful art work on the walls and the best of Bristol's culture right outside the door!
It is important to mention that Picton Street is a vibrant and lively part of Bristol and can sometimes be a little noisy on the street outside during the weekend.
I like guests to feel at home and help themselves to tea and coffee. Please wash up after yourselves though. We are used to smokers but only outside please.
Alex is a nice host, she gave you all the details about how to explore Bristol. Her house is amazing, full of lovely things and her creations are wonderful. The house is very well situated close to the center of the city and with lovely restaurants so close to the house.
Alex is a brilliant host and her place is fantastic - a wonderful room with everything you need in a really interesting part of town.
A warm welcome, comfortable bed, fluffy towels, fabulous cafés and restaurants on the doorstep, and amazing artwork. What more could you want?
Alex and Paul are lovely and I would thoroughly recommend The Bird House except I don't want it to be booked up when I next return go Bristol.
I was really sorry to find Alex sick when I arrived, and admired the way they took having a visitor in their stride - I don't know that I would have managed as well in trying circumstances! Paul gave me great tips for local restaurants, taxis, etc, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. The house is really something special, and I'm sorry not to have met the creator - will have to come back to Bristol another time! Hope Alex is feeling a lot better...
The house was just as in pictures- very eye catching decor -great originality. Bed super cosy, great shower and kitchen facilities, lovely back garden, very warm couple, knowledgeable on the area and very kind. Montpellier was a very colourful area to spend a few days in and quirky eateries were in abundance and all within walking distance. Gloucester Rd is on the doorstep and gives a good summation of what embodies Bristol. I will be back!!
Cannot recommend staying with Alex at The Bird House enough! She was a perfect host; a lovely friendly person who made me feel completely comfortable straight away and ensured I had everything I needed, plus helped me out with finding nice places to eat, local information etc. This is not to mention the house itself! The room and guest bathroom are beautifully kept and the house is filled with Alex's wonderful art. It is situated in Montpelier; a friendly, vibrant part of Bristol with great places to go and easy access to the rest of the city. It was a truly lovely experience to stay in such a nice place, especially with such nice, helpful people!
