Late fall lookout from the deck. A note to nature lovers- our guests have had the pleasure of watching deer and bears from the deck.
Whitt and Martha are wonderful people. This was our first experience in a trailer ever. It was an awesome experience. We tried some vegetables from their farm, and I have never had such tasty veggies before. The trailer was completely equipped with everything you would need for a weekend getaway. And if you ever needed anything more, you could just call Whitt and he would bring it to you immediately. The trailer is parked a quarter of a mile from the main farm, so you have a very private space. The deck is very beautiful. The morning sun hits the deck at a perfect angle.
We went during the Memorial day weekend and weather-wise, I think this is the best time of the year to go visit. Also, the location of the farm is really close to the Shenandoah National Park (only 15 min away).
The sounds of the forest are very soothing and so are the views from the deck. Also, they have dogs that patrol the property, so you wouldn't really need to worry about safety. The dogs are adorable and friendly too. Martha gave us a tour of the farm and we learned a lot.
Overall, it was a perfect weekend for us. Thanks Whitt and Martha!
A wonderful getaway from DC for my boyfriend and I! We so enjoyed the peace and quiet and relaxing in the VA mountains. The Dawn Treader had all the amenities we needed for cooking, and Martha was kind enough to direct us to a wonderful hiking trail in the Shenandoah National Forest. I would 100% recommend!!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 5 year anniversary. It was the perfect getaway. It's pretty deep in the woods but it was super quiet and perfect for looking at the stars. It had everything you need, from salt and pepper to towels and shampoo. Whitt was so nice and helpful and the farm was beautiful. Would definitely recommend this for anyone and everyone in need of a break from stress and city life.
Great hospitality. Very unique place. Definitely a remote, beautiful wilderness-type experience. The deck is great and although the inside of the airstream is tight quarters, it is comfortable and well-equipped and in nice weather the deck is a spacious, private, and serene hang out space. Highly recommended for adventurous types who want something unusual and charming.
Everything about our voyage on the Dawn Treader was fantastic. We arrived on the mountain and got a quick run down of the farm from Martha, were taken to the Dawn Treader by Whitt, and delivered our dinner farm basket a short time later. I spent a few hours of the afternoon reading in the fun lounge chairs, something I could find myself doing daily if I lived here. Martha and Whitt were perfect hosts, redirecting us when we got lost surveying the property and making sure we were able to safely return to the Dawn Treader at night. My only regret is only staying for one night.

About the Host, Whitt
I am a retired executive Chef who has worked in all types of hospitality environments for 35 years. Managing a small country Inn and restaurant for 12 of those years has given me ample experience to create and manage our unique Yurt B&B as well as our other lodgings. My family and I are in process of creating a self supporting and sustainable farm homestead and lodgings and we offer welcome to one and all. In addition to our enterprises we are grateful stewards of 60 acres of spectacular mountain land, most of which is as undisturbed as possible with an easily accessible nature trail winding throughout the property. As a working farm we also have a multitude of gentle critters and an abundance of home grown foods.
Having grown up in Hawaii I know well about relaxing and enjoying life and all it has to offer, and believe we have created a place where everyone can share in the same.
