Whitt and Martha (and Lincoln - the biggest dog I have ever seen) were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the Dawntreader was magnificent! The amount of space was perfect for a romantic getaway and we rarely felt cramped. The deck is the standout feature - be sure to bring firewood! I 100% recommend this AirBnB.
We visited the Farm for my daughter Spring break and I would truly like to place this has my best Air bnb experience and great for family bonding. Martha and Whitt were amazing host from the time we reserved ,keeping us well informed of things to do on and off the Farm. The property it self is spectacular, we stayed in the Dawn Treader for two days and my daughter loved the idea of a "car house". It was really nice to get some family yoga done in the mountains , walkthrough the trails and doing the tour of the farm. My Daughter is still telling everyone that her favorite part was feeding the baby goat and getting fresh eggs from the coop. To top off all of their wonderful hospitality we also ordered a dinner basket for the second night. The very well portioned farm to table meal included brussel sprouts, spinach pasta, a great variety of greens, pork chops, and Martha's freshly baked bread and cupcakes. This was a great experience for our family and so close to DC we really look forward to going back soon ( it definitely encouraged us to buy a year long pass to Shenandoah!) . Thanks again Whitt and Martha!
Marth and Whitt went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their amazing home and space. Their large dogs also greeted us warmly. The Dawn Treader was absolutely the way looks in the picture and lent us a great night's sleep. We had not a bug in site, save the occasional little ant.
We ordered some pork chops, sausages, eggs (green!) and some of Martha's just baked sourdough amazing-ness loaves. By the next day, we were kicking ourselves for not having bought 2. Freshest meat eaten in the freshest place.
We laid down under the stars, saw a few shooting about. But much to my boyfriend's lament, I'm the only one who saw them. Belinda 4: Oscar 0.
We will have to come back another weekend so that he can see some and not feel so badly ;) We'll bring our boy so that he can play in the pool.
The Dawn Treader was absolutely amazing! My son and I felt so comfortable and really welcomed in the space. Whitt and Martha were great, they gave us recommendations about where to go sightseeing. The trails were fun for my son especially when Suki, one of the farm dogs joined us for a bit. We hope to return here soon for a longer stay and get the tour of the farm!
Whitt and Martha could not have been more welcoming. We arrived in rain and fog to a magical place. The airstream is unlike anywhere else we have stayed. Everything has been thought of to make it relaxing, beautiful and peaceful. Martha's prepared ingredients for our evening meal were beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended!
My fiancé and I just spent the past two nights in the Airstream at Cair Paravel and we had a wonderful time. Whitt and Martha's property is one of a kind; they have incredible views of the mountains, and it's so peaceful up there.
We did not spend much time in the Airstream, as we were in Virginia specifically to visit Shenandoah National Park. For those visiting the area for the same reason - Cair Paravel is about 20 minutes away from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Skyline Drive and 50 minutes away from the Old Rag Mountain trailhead. While the distances are long, the drives are so scenic it doesn't matter.
The Airstream itself is well equipped for its size - I was surprised by how much stuff was packed in there! There is a full kitchen, although we didn't make use of it. The deck is definitely the highlight - it's huge and perfect for eating breakfast as the sun comes up or drinking beer as it goes down (we did both!!). We also made use of the chimenea, which was an awesome perk.
I'm not sure when, but my fiancé and I will definitely be back! We want to do the farm tour next time (and maybe try out the yurt, which also looks amazing). Thank you Whitt and Martha!!

I am a retired executive Chef who has worked in all types of hospitality environments for 35 years. Managing a small country Inn and restaurant for 12 of those years has given me ample experience to create and manage our unique Yurt B&B as well as our other lodgings. My family and I are in process of creating a self supporting and sustainable farm homestead and lodgings and we offer welcome to one and all. In addition to our enterprises we are grateful stewards of 60 acres of spectacular mountain land, most of which is as undisturbed as possible with an easily accessible nature trail winding throughout the property. As a working farm we also have a multitude of gentle critters and an abundance of home grown foods.
Having grown up in Hawaii I know well about relaxing and enjoying life and all it has to offer, and believe we have created a place where everyone can share in the same.
