Sunny and quiet right near Condesa

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Progreso, Mexico City, Federal District 11800, Mexico

The Space

We love this flat, full of charm, light and quiet, one block away from trendy Condesa. It's on the 2nd floor of a small 50s building. It is newly restored by Chimi, respecting the style of the 50s and we made sure it's comfortable and practical.

The flat is around 100m2, with two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, the other with a full.mattress (both new). Both bedrooms are spacious, with nice closets, black-out curtains and double paned windows (yes, you will sleep well!). The bathroom is small but super practical, with shower and bathtub, good pressure and lots of hot water. The living and dining-room are welcoming and comfy for your quiet times. We've added a huge hammock for the afternoon naps, books, dvds and WIFI are for you to use. The kitchen is also full of light, newly equipped and you will find everything you need to cook and feel at home.

We'll provide you with bedlinens, towels, soap, hair-dryer, iron, basics for the kitchen (spice, coffee, tea, oil, etc), a cellphone so we can be easily in touch (please put credit back on the cellphone at the end of your stay, for the next guests). A cleaning-person comes once a week so don't worry about cleaning the place once you leave... There is no washing-machine but a laundry one block away.

The flat is located in Colonia Escandon, one street away from super hype Condesa. Escandon is a lovely barrio, with a village feel, loved by artists and writers. One street away from the flat you will find a food market, many small shops selling fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, lots of life, colours and family life. The Colonia is completely safe to walk at night and you'll enjoy a stroll to one of the many taqueria around or a beautiful ice-cream from the one trendy cafe 2 blocks away.

There are ecobicis (city bikes) round the corner and a metrobus station very near. We'll provide you with a phone number for taxis, maps and guides of Mexico city. We'll be near if you need any recommendations.

We've lived in this flat for a while and totally loved the quiet feel of the appartment and the peaceful and authentic vibe of the neighbourhood.

  • The place was as big as the pictures suggested. The kitchen was complete. Agnes and Chimi were very responsive to inquiries and requests. Their huge area map with places to eat and connections to the Metro and Metrobus was very helpful. The neighborhood was walkable with lots of unique features that made is feel as though we were in Mexico and not just any big city (i.e. taquerillas, smoties, tort as, and tacos at corner stands, Mexican comida casera (food like home) at several of the small restaurants along Marti, and a Mexican Market. It was wonderful. We've stayed at about 10 different places in Mexico City over the past four years and this was our favorite place yet.

  • Agnes and Chimi's place was perfect for our stay in DF. They went out of their way to make sure we were having a good visit -- even giving us a cell phone to use. The apartment gets great light all day long, is very clean, and the location is super convenient. Fully recommended.

  • An Airbnb experience par excellence. My girlfriend have rented many apartments but Agnès and Chimi's stunning place - you'll probably want to move in - located in a great spot is by and far the best experience we've had so far. The apartment was immaculately clean. Communication was prompt and thorough. When we had a question about where to buy textiles they wrote back immediately with several helpful suggestions. The location is on the bottom edge of Condesa and we walked - without fear or incident - into Roma for its bars and restaurants. Agnès and Chimi are attuned to the little things. Welcoming coffee and fruit. A giant blown up map of the area with recommendations. And a rooftop spot to enjoy breakfast at. My only worry is that the more people who stay here the harder it'll be to book it in the future.

  • Agnes and Chimi's place is amazing! I would live there without a second thought.

The apartment has large rooms, super-comfortable beds and a hammock, tons of light, and is sparkling clean. Agnes and Chimi are fantastic and thoughtful hosts. They have tons of maps and guidebooks, including a giant 4x5 foot map tacked to their wall annotated with nearby restaurants, markets, public transport, ATMs, etc. They even left us fruit so that we could make ourselves fresh-squeezed juice with their electric citrus juicer! Their restaurant recommendations were spot-on, and their apartment is wonderfully located: near Condesa and other fun areas, easy and safe to walk, and very accessible to public transport.

Oh, and the best part: They actually left us a phone to use! With a Mexican SIM card in it!

So, if you go, eat at El Califa tacos, and don't forget to check out the food at the market on Jose Marti. Enjoy!

  • Sunny, quiet, centrally located. I had a great time staying one month at Agnes and Chimis apartment. Will certainly consider it again next time when I am in Mexico City.

  • I stayed at Agnes' and Chimi's flat for almost one week, the first couple of days together with a friend and the rest of the days by myself, and I can absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for quality and good location.

Even though we arrived quite late, Chimi personally received us and gave us a friendly introduction into the flat's fittings. In the kitchen, some bread and muffins were provided and also a big carafe of drinking water was available, which we considered a nice detail.

First of all I want to mention the apartment's impeccable equipment and infrastructure. I have high standards in this regard and I couldn't find one point to complain about. The flat is spacious and very tastefully furnished, and everything was absolutely clean. We always had hot water in the shower and there even was a little heater in the big sleeping room (nights in Mexico City can get very cold, specially in winter).

On the big table in the living room we could find several maps and tourist guides (Mexico City's offer for museums and cultural activities is enormous), what can be very useful for foreign travelers, specially if it's their first time in D.F.

All in all we had a super comfortable stay, where we particularly enjoyed the flat's space and fittings. On the other hand, we very much appreciated Chimi's attentive and uncomplicated handling of all our requests and communication. I would definitely come back to this place in a future occasion.

  • Agnes y Chimi were phenomenal hosts! They were very communicative leading up to our stay, and shared great tips for getting around. Their lovely home was the perfect place to rest our heads after adventuring in DF. The neighborhood is charming, and very close to Roma and Condesa (where we spent most of our time). We were able to walk most everywhere. We really appreciated the map of the neighborhood that Agnes y Chimi marked with all their favorite spots. If you're looking for a quiet place to stay near a vibrant neighborhood this is the spot!

  • The best part of this flat is it's location. You can feel free to walk around the neighborhood which has lots of bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants and bars. There is also lots of shopping boutique style around the area. It is conveniently located near a metro station which let's you go anywhere in the city.
The flat it's self is lovely. The decor is retro which gives you a vintage vive which goes great with the location of the flat.

You have all you need from hot water and a comfortable bed which is perfect after long walks in the city. The kitchen has all you need to make a meal and everything is functional. The hammock was such a lovely touch and it was great after long walks just to rest.

Agnes was super quick to reply to all our messages and went over and beyond to help us get to the flat. When we got there, Chimi was super helpful giving us maps, and recommendations for places to visit and eat at. He made us feel at home and super comfortable. He also gave us a phone ready to use to call him with any questions we had, which we thought we really appreciated since we could save on roaming charges.

Overall this flat was in perfect condition and the two hosts were extremely nice and helpful. We would definitely go back to this flat when we visit Mexico City again.

About
We're a french-mexican couple, in our 30s. Agnes was born in France and has been living in Mexico city for the last 15 years... She's a Philosophy professor at university. Chimi was born in Mexico city from a french mother and a mexican father. He's a furniture designer/restorer. We're both big travellers and if we could live on the road, we would!! In fact, we did, for a year, from Mexico to Patagonia on our van, greatest memories ever... We learned to make our own biodiesel from waste veggie oil and value hospitality from people on our way... We're both independant workers and enjoy our freedom. We love having people at our house and making sure our guests feel at home, free and relaxed...
