About This Listing
We love this flat, full of charm, light and quiet, one block away from trendy Condesa. It's on the 2nd floor of a small 50s building. It is newly restored by Chimi, respecting the style of the 50s and we made sure it's comfortable and practical.
The flat is around 100m2, with two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, the other with a full.mattress (both new). Both bedrooms are spacious, with nice closets, black-out curtains and double paned windows (yes, you will sleep well!). The bathroom is small but super practical, with shower and bathtub, good pressure and lots of hot water. The living and dining-room are welcoming and comfy for your quiet times. We've added a huge hammock for the afternoon naps, books, dvds and WIFI are for you to use. The kitchen is also full of light, newly equipped and you will find everything you need to cook and feel at home.
We'll provide you with bedlinens, towels, soap, hair-dryer, iron, basics for the kitchen (spice, coffee, tea, oil, etc), a cellphone so we can be easily in touch (please put credit back on the cellphone at the end of your stay, for the next guests). A cleaning-person comes once a week so don't worry about cleaning the place once you leave... There is no washing-machine but a laundry one block away.
The flat is located in Colonia Escandon, one street away from super hype Condesa. Escandon is a lovely barrio, with a village feel, loved by artists and writers. One street away from the flat you will find a food market, many small shops selling fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, lots of life, colours and family life. The Colonia is completely safe to walk at night and you'll enjoy a stroll to one of the many taqueria around or a beautiful ice-cream from the one trendy cafe 2 blocks away.
There are ecobicis (city bikes) round the corner and a metrobus station very near. We'll provide you with a phone number for taxis, maps and guides of Mexico city. We'll be near if you need any recommendations.
We've lived in this flat for a while and totally loved the quiet feel of the appartment and the peaceful and authentic vibe of the neighbourhood.
WE DO NOT MAKE DEALS OUT OF AIRBNB.
We will leave a cellphone so we can be in touch easily; in case you need anything we won't be far!
We love colonia Escandón, a very genuine neighbourhood, but a block away from trendy Condesa. You will feel a very lively and safe vibe, with families always in the street and so many small businesses open all day long.
Metrobus and Ecobicis (city bikes) are a block away, and metro is very near too.
Best way to come from the airport is taking an authorized cab.
We hope you will treat our flat as your home...
we stayed in agnes & chimi's apartment for over 4 months and had an amazing experience in Mexico City (DF).
the cozy apartment is filled with beautiful light all day long.
most importantly: the king size bed is luxurious and sorely missed by my back.
agnes & chimi were great hosts, who not only left a clean and comfortable space, but were also available to answer questions and do any necessary repair work in short order.
you can't ask for better hosts.
the neighbourhood, escandon, was amazing.
one of our favorites in mexico city.
sitting at the edge of condessa and roma, which are filled with great bars, restaurants, and shopping, this neighbourhood still retains the feel of a vibrant city neighbourhood filled with people who eat, sleep, live, and party in the great neighbourhood of escandon.
it's not condessa: it's even better.
Agnes and Chimi were the most wonderful hosts, very accommodating, easy to communicate with and incredibly kind. They took care of everything that we needed right away. The listing is exactly how it appears online, very clean, bright, and spacious. Two big bedrooms, spacious living/dining room, fully stocked kitchen. The beds are so comfortable and we absolutely loved staying here. It's really in the perfect location, close to cafes and restaurants in Condesa but also in an interesting area where you will not see a lot of tourists. This is a really wonderful apartment in Mexico City and we highly recommend it.
Staying at Agnes'/Chimi's apt was like being home away from home over the Christmas holidays. We didn't get to meet them, but we were entrusted to the care of a family member who was available by phone as soon as our (delayed) flight arrived in MEX, warmly welcomed us and gave us a thorough orientation to the apt. There was no need to contact the hosts during our stay as everything was as expected, but they still communicated with us to make sure we were okay and that our needs were being met. We plan to return to MEX soon; hope we will be lucky enough to stay with Agnes/Chimi again.
| Kitchen: nice to be able to prep your own meals w/ a market in the area for the freshest ingredients. Space: Loved the hammock in the den where you can close your eyes and be lulled to a state of relaxation by the sounds of daily life in DF. Plus, spacious bedrooms, living and dining areas – and plenty of light coming in through the windows if you want.
| Location: Far enough from the hustle-bustle of “tourist” activity, but you can get on a Metrobus (Red/1 and Purple/2 Lines) less than a block away to go wherever (transfer to Green/3 Line just 3 stops on the Purple/2 Line); Metro (Brown/9) Chilpancinco also w/in walking distance. A leisurely meandering on foot to Col. Roma, Col. Condesa is a great way to explore the neighborhoods. Also, EcoBici Station right outside the door
| MAP on wall: Agnes/Chimi have the answers to general questions (where to buy... where to ride... where to get... etc.) all mapped out for you on the big area map posted on the wall. Plus, they have guides, books, and other materials available.
We can only validate what other guests have previously written in their reviews. We'll gladly stay here again. And as much as we would like to keep this great apartment a well-guarded secret for ourselves, we'd recommend it to friends/family without hesitation.
Though we did not get to meet our hosts personally, as they were out of town visiting family, Agnes took care of us by arranging for a family friend to meet us and let us into the flat. Agnes was always accessible by email and tended to our inquiries and requests with speed and hospitality.
The flat is exactly as it appears in the the photos - light filled, spacious and clean with lots of character and charm.
The neighbourhood was lively and friendly and perfect for our young family. There are several parks with amazing playground, a vibrant market and two metro stations minutes away. We stayed during the days leading up to and including Dia de los Muertos, and even took our son Trick or Treating in the neighbourhood. We always felt safe and secure.
We had a great stay at this charming apartment. Bright and beautifully decorated. Agnes and Chimi were great at providing fast information.
Agnes and Chimi were quick to reply to my questions and super helpful. Chimi met me at the door and immediately made me feel at home. This apartment is the real deal. It's spacious, comfortable, and all that you need for a stay in Mexico DF. I traveled everyone on the Subway and Metrobus. The Nuevo Leon and Chilpancingo stations are just a few blocks away. You are also within walking distance of all of the life in Roma, Condesa, Escandón, and the city center. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to this amazing apartment.
This is a clean and quiet apartment in a lovely residential area of Mexico City, within walking distance of trendy Condesa but without the hubhub and noise. We found it extremely conveniently located for everything and everyone we wanted to visit (mainly our son in Condesa who was a 10 minute walk away!)
The flat has everything you need for a short stay - the kitchen is well-equipped and Agnès and Chimi made sure we arrived to beer, tea, milk and fruit! They are very thoughtful hosts and we were grateful for their considerate service.
This is the second time we have used one of Agnès and Chimi's "depas" and we hope it won't be the last! Highly recommended!

We love having people at our house and making sure our guests feel at home, free and relaxed...
