Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
An easy escape to the beauty of unspoiled Colorado! Located just adjacent to our home on 200 acres, our guesthouse is a remodeled 3 bed/2 bath home with full kitchen and beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks (Wahatoya) from the deck. We are located just 7 miles off I-25 Walsenburg exit 49 with plenty of privacy and room to slow down and relax! We welcome guests of all backgrounds and your well behaved canine friends too. (Please message us details & number of pets for prior approval.)

The space
The house is about 1500 square feet with a bright, open living/dining/kitchen area and large, southwest facing deck with a spectacular view of the Spanish Peaks. The sleeping arrangements include 3 private bedrooms: one suite with a queen bed and 3/4 bathroom, a second bedroom with a queen bed which shares the second bathroom including tub/shower with the third bedroom that can be configured as either two twins or one king bed. The house is one story with plenty of open parking, a full kitchen, beautiful deck with grill, dining table and other seating. There is satellite WIFI that can be used if needed, but it's a good place to slow down and unplug.

Guest access
Full guesthouse including laundry, deck, parking and open space. Also opportunities to tour the gardens when we are available or walk the larger acreage.

Other things to note
Please note, while we are just 7 miles to town and the Interstate, this is a rural property. Our county road is graded, but not paved (our driveway and parking are paved). Cell service is hit or miss depending on your carrier, and the satellite internet access is somewhat limited. We are more than happy to share our land line with you as needed. There is no television in the guesthouse.

Neighborhood highlights

Our property offers a bit of real, unspoiled Colorado. We are located at about 6700ft elevation, with juniper, pinon and lodgepole pines, wildflowers and cactus, rocky outcroppings, meadows and arroyos. The Spanish Peaks (Wahatoya) with their amazing geology of volcanic dikes rise to the west while the prairies stretch out east of I25. The Highway of Legends Hwy 12 and Taos Trail offer beautiful drives to explore, while CO 160 leads you further into the West over La Veta and Wolf Creek Passes towards Durango and Four Corners. You'll find antiques, art galleries and history museums in Walsenburg and La Veta, great food, drink and outdoor recreation in and around beautiful Cuchara, and forest access north around Gardner and Red Wing. Boating and swimming at Lathrop State Park (Colorado's First) 20 minutes away. Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls 1.5 hours. San Isabel National Forest and a number of State Wildlife Areas surround us.

I am happy to be able to share our property and love of Southern Colorado and the Spanish Peaks region with our guests! We relocated here in 2016, and are excited about living a more rural and sustainable lifestyle. We are avid gardeners (for home and market), diy/homesteaders, music fans, home cooks, and lovers of all things outdoors. We've traveled a bit ourselves, and love the connections and real experiences that make travel so meaningful.
