We take our hospitality SERIOUSLY, so if there is ANYTHING that concerns you within our control, please let us know during your stay and we will do our best to make your stay more comfortable. We want you to have a restful and enjoyable experience with local hosts ready to guide you during your trip. We have a humble home in an older neighborhood, but we hope to make you feel like you are staying at a friend's house rather than a hotel. Our goal is to offer you a cheaper place to stay with a MUCH better local experience than a hotel. So, if you don't mind a little bit of chit-chat and maybe a hug, this is the place for you. We also regularly like to either suggest local hidden spots or take you there if we can.
Hi! Heather and Benjamin here! We are here to make sure that you love the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area. We are very friendly people that love to travel, cook, and meet new people. We are very accepting of many different lifestyles. We have traveled to approx 40 countries and lived in 3 different countries (Canada, India, and China). We also love to sail. We do not have children or pets and we do not smoke. We work during the week, so we tend to keep early hours during the week however, we love to show guests around the area over the weekends if we can. If you have your own schedule that is perfectly fine, but we would at least enjoy a few minutes getting to know you. We also want to make sure that you don't get stuck in tourist traps, so do what the locals do!
OUR GUEST ROOM & SHARED BATHROOM
We offer a queen bed that sleeps 2 in a private room with a bathroom in the hallway common area right next to the room. This bathroom is SHARED with one other person and our occasional guests (Heather's sister). The bathroom is kept clean and tidy. The mattress is covered with a plastic covering and everything is washed after each stay. We have several pillows and plenty of clean sheets and towels. The bedroom and bathroom has just been renovated with a new paint job and tile. It also has a closet and a chest with drawers for your convenience.
Generally, this room is meant for two guests. However, in certain circumstances you can have two additional guests stay in this space for an additional charge. We have a blow up mattress that can be put in this room. We will provide bedding and towels for this additional bed. We also have 5 other rooms that can be booked if additional space or comfort is needed.
We live in a cozy 4 bedroom 3 bathroom 1950's house offering several rooms to guests, so you may meet other people staying with us. We just fully renovated the house with tile bathrooms, hardwood floors throughout the guest area. We have a lush tropical landscape and a fence fully surrounding the house for privacy. We can have a full house at times, with multiple rooms booked at the same time. Most likely you will meet people from all over the world while you are here.
CHECK IN / OUT
Check in is between 6pm and 9pm. If we can accommodate an earlier or later check in or check out we will, but you must confirm with us first. We typically work during the day, so a later check in is better during the week. However, if you plan to get in earlier than our scheduled check in, please contact us to see if we can assist you.
-a shared kitchen and living room.
-free high-speed wifi throughout the house
-HBO, SHOWTIME, & cable in the main room.
Interaction with Guests
We like to get to know you and share a little bit about us.
It a VERY diverse up-and-coming and sometimes quirky urban neighborhood with a view of Downtown. It is close to the beach, downtown (Las Olas), Wilton Manors and the cruise port. It is a neighborhood with small homes built in the 1950's. Our neighborhood is not swanky or upscale however, it is an authentic historic residential area where urban-dwellers and old Fort Lauderdale families call home. We know most of our neighbors, and you will experience the Carribean vibe where people walk by and chat outside for hours. There are new buildings going up (so expect some minor construction) and our neighbors sometimes hold yard sales. This isn't the burbs, so if city life isn't for you, please check out other listings. We do live near the major streets & tourist areas so you will hear city sounds (taxis, cars, people walking by, music) during the day and dusk, especially during the busy season when a lot of tourists are here. Occasionally on the weekends, and especially during big holidays there can be a pretty festive atmosphere with lots of parties, music, and people into the night because of the tourism and the close proximity to Downtown Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale. We have a supermarket and TONS of restaurants, shops, bars, clubs within 10 minutes walking distance or a 2-3 minute drive. We can show you fantastic little Cuban and Haitian restaurants that are close to us (fresh sandwiches and empanadas) and open during the day!
Having a car definitely makes it easier to get around Ft. Lauderdale & Miami. In fact, we highly recommend it. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale does not have the best public transit system, however it is possible to get to most major attractions from our house because we are located in the city close to downtown. From our house (via a bus) you can get to Downtown Fort Lauderdale and the beaches (there is a bus line that regularly runs to the beaches). We are a little over a mile form the bus terminal for our city, and all of the bus lines go through this terminal. You have two options to get to this terminal. You can walk (plan on 1.5mi) or you can take the bus that passes by our house (a 2 minute walk) and goes directly to the terminal. From the bus terminal you can get to Miami and most other attractions. You also have the option of taking the train (Tri-Rail) which is faster, but will require more connections.
Other Things to Note
This room faces the street and we have many neighbors close by and so you may get some noise till later in the evening.
Also, we like to keep our house quiet at night, however some guests need to check out in the morning or checkin in the evening. We ask that guests try to be as quiet as possible when checking out, but you may hear some noise from this as well.
This is a shared house. We have people from all over the world and you will interact with these people. If typical house noises, shared kitchens, and chit chat in the halls bothers you, please look at other listings. However, if you want a really authentic local & international experience and maybe make a friend or two. Then this place is for you!
This is the only room that shares a bathroom, therefore we price is accordingly. It is only shared with our sister and our occasional guests. We keep the bathroom clean, but keep this in mind.
We are pretty flexible people. You are not expected to clean your sheets, towels, or room, but if you need to use any pots or dishes for cooking please wash your dishes.
We try to go to sleep around 10pm during the weekdays. You are welcome to stay up past that time, but please do not make too much noise so that other guests are not disturbed.
Kitchen hours are between 8am and 8pm.
No nudity in the common areas.
Additional guests must be pre-approved by us.
Please use your own private bathroom during your stay.
No drugs. Drinking is not-allowed if you are under 21.
Minors must be accompanied by adults.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable.
Benjamin was a great host, when we got there he showed us around the house, our room, bathroom, etc. and gave us tips about things to do and restaurants to visit. Listing was accurate and neighbourhood was safe. Unfortunately we did not meet with Heater, she was on a business trip while we were there. Thanks for the delicious pastries Benjamin.
The perfect hosts! Both are so lovely! They help you whenever you need help. Perfect stay!
Benjamin was very helpful and took his Time to show us the house and what we needed to know about our stay in Fort Lauderdale.
We arrived very late in the evening but Benjamin was there to welcome us.
The house was not situaded in the best blocks in FL.
Staying at Heather and Benjamin's was the best Airbnb experience so far. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed to have a great stay. We even got to take part in a wine and cheese social hour with other guests that was organized by Heather and Benjamin. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend staying at Heather and Benjamin's Airbnb to any of my friends.
if you are looking for a very nice place to stay in Fort Lauderdale with one of the most welcoming hosts, this offer is for you. We were here for long vacations and this is a fantastic place ever.
Benjamin and Heather both strove to make me feel very welcome. Their warmth and consideration came truly from the heart. Ben made sure I could find what I needed nearby and provided directions and suggestions. He even loaned me a bike. I ended up staying almost two weeks. It felt like a very serene and quiet home, which in fact it is.
Our experience staying at Heather and Benjamin's house was amazing. The house was clean, sweet and warm. We met other guests and made some great conversations during our staying. We even made some friends.
I think Heather and Benjamin do amazing job to gather the guests together. We had a feeling that we were staying in our own house, talking to our old friends and enjoying our own food. The house is close to car renting places, groceries, great restaurants, and beaches in Fort Lauderdale which is very convenient.

Heather is a friendly person and always happy...even in the morning. That is what everyone notices. She is a rockstar! She loves to dance (must be the Latin blood) and workout. She is kind and caring and will make sure you are safe, comfortable, and relaxed.
Benjamin is a gregarious person. Heather laughs because he asks people so many questions. He loves learning a lot about people if they are willing to share. He is a good cook and experiments with new concepts all-the-time.
