The host canceled this reservation 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Unfortunately the yurt was not in the location advertised in airbnb at the time of booking. Its new location is very difficult to find and reach if arriving by bike as we did. We were fortunate to phone (as a precautionary confirmation)the host the day before leaving on our bike trip otherwise we would never have located it. This was about 5 weeks after booking and the host would have had plenty of time to inform us of the change of location.
Once there the host was kind enough to explain the history and story behind the yurt and give us an impression of life in Mongolia.
The yurt itself apparently had electricity but no light bulbs thus we went to bed at sunset and rose at sunlight--very authentic Mongolian but only if you are prepared for this. It was damp and cold at night with no firewood nearby. Probably the least comfortable stay of our 2 week bicycle trip in Germany.
The new location of the yurt is about 12 to 15 km by bike from the center of Dresden--mostly uphill. It is on the grounds of a pension for tradespeople run by a very friendly man by the name of Fred. Fred who was not associated with the yurt befriended us and regaled us with stories of his own travels. He even gave us a ride in a very well maintained Trabant (East German car) which he still drives and plans to take to the Black Sea this fall.
If you do stay at this yurt there is a fairly good restaurant at a golf club in the local village which is to be recommended and the cycling in the area is interesting. The local bus service into Dresden is good and a ticket includes transit service for the day in Dresden.
My friend and I stayed in Matthias' s Mongolian Yurt for one night and really loved the experience! The yurt is spacious, comfortable and clean and the surrounding views were great. We loved the decorations inside the yurt, especially the cd of traditional Mongolian music which we enjoyed listening to. The toilet and shower facilities are located right outside the yurt and were clean and comfortable. Although we arrived quite late due to problems with our train Matthias was very helpful and welcoming and made sure we were settled in well for the night. The accommodation is located a short 5-7 min walk from the bua stop for the 66 bus which takes you right to Dresden city centre in 15 mins. Thank you Matthias!
Mattias was very kind and offered to collect us from the train station, He was very friendly and offered us some very interesting information about the yurt. He helped us to find place we wanted to visit. Located in a very relaxing area with views over Dresden.
Amazing place! Mongolian music, mongolian clothes, mongolian fireplace, mongolian romance...just make sure you have enough wood ;)
We stayed one night in Dresden and the Mongolian Tent was the most perfect place to stay! It was a wonderful night we'll never forget. Absolutely recommendable
