Vida Tropical is an opportunity for a real Tico experience in a small suburb of San Jose. The staff were very helpful and the beer was cold and the cheapest of the trip. our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The tour of Poas, Doka and Lapaz waterfall that they arranged for us was great and a reasonable value for a small group tour. Don't miss the Alajuela farmer's market if you are in town on friday or saturday.
Vida Tropical was a great find.
The hosts were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful.
The house is a short cab ride from the airport, clean, secure and offers a free, tasty breakfast.
I stayed at Vida Tropical on my first and last nights in Costa Rica. It's very conveniently close to the airport and the staff are very helpful with setting up taxis or anything else you might need.
Only issue was with finding the place. There are no home addresses in the country (at least according to my taxi driver in Alajuela), so it's important to have your driver call and get directions over the phone.
All-in-all, very glad I found this place.
My boyfriend and I had a really great experience here. We stayed at Jose's place because it was near the airport. Due to a our plane being delayed we only arrived at about 2 in the morning. Our GPS took us right there but told us it was on the left when it was really on the right, not sure why. When we arrived there was a man behind a pole just behind Vida Tropical which we found kind of odd but Jose was waiting for us when we arrived. Everyone was asleep so we didn't really know who was staying there but in the morning we met a whole bunch of lovely people who were also staying there. The breakfast was amazing and the coffee even better made by the sweetest ladies. The room and bathroom were very clean even the communal bathroom. We liked so much we wanted to stay there on our last night in Costa Rica but we (email hidden) and they did not answer the door maybe the lady had gone to the bathroom. All in all, it was a great and safe place to start our adventure.
We got in late after getting our rental car, but our hosts were very welcoming. It was a great place to stay near the airport and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and breakfast the next day. Thank you!
This was my second stay at his lovely bed and breakfast, this time I stayed with my sister in the "Fish" room. Breakfast was still super delicious! There was a place in a locked lot to leave my rental, which was very convenient. Isabelle recommended a bunch of great restaurants in the area, and explained how to get to the nearest supermarket so that we could pick up some snacks. I loved that it felt so much like a home, I will be back again!
Great BnB! We only stayed here for our first night but they were very accommodating. Our flight got in two hours late and by the time we got there it was close to midnight, but they were up and ready for us. We had a nice size bedroom and our bathroom was big and spacious. Breakfast was fresh and delicious in the morning. The hammocks upstairs were very relaxing. I would definitely recommend staying here!
