I live in this apartment, and host travelers like yourself in the other 3 rooms. This is the perfect spot for students, backpackers, and others on a budget, who still want to stay in one of the best neighborhoods in all of NYC, and have the entire city easily accessible by foot or subway. My goal is to offer this room at the lowest rate possible (less than half the price of local hotels and far cheaper than most Airbnb places in the neighborhood), so if you're looking for something super fancy, I encourage you to book elsewhere! I've made some minor changes to the apartment and furniture since these pictures were taken, so expect some slight differences.
This apartment is in a PRIME Williamsburg location right off of Bedford Avenue, which is the bustling main street that runs through the neighborhood.
Staying here is similar to a hostel environment (except that you get your own room!), where you'll have the opportunity to meet and interact with other travelers. The apartment is on the first floor of the building, and includes access to an open outdoor space. The room is small with no window, but spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 people. The bathroom is shared. The area is very safe, and the apartment has never had a problem with rodents, roaches, or bedbugs.
Williamsburg is the artistic and cultural heart of Brooklyn, with some of the best music and nightlife in NYC. Many would agree with me that this is the best neighborhood in the entire city. There are TONS of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutique stores, music venues, and everything else you can possibly imagine close by. When you check in, there'll be a list of some of my favorite spots in the neighborhood waiting for you in your room.
The nearest subway stops are the Marcy J/M/Z (5 min walk) and the Bedford L (10 min walk), from which the entire city will be easily accessible. For subway & bus directions anywhere in the city, I recommend the website & app HopStop.
I always provide a clean room, with fresh sheets and towels for every guest.
You may check-in at your convenience, anytime after 4pm on the day of your arrival (even late at night). I cannot accommodate early check-ins, because other guests will be checking out the same day, however, you may drop your luggage off early if you need to.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any additional question or if there's anything I can help you with.
Interaction with Guests
Other Things to Note
Please be aware that this is a residential building (not a hotel), and you'll be sharing the apartment with other Airbnb guests. Please be respectful of neighbors and other guests by keeping noise at a reasonable volume and cleaning up after yourself. I don't host children under 18 or pets (sorry!). Please don't book if you are at risk of transporting bedbugs (I've never had bedbugs here, and I'd like to keep it that way!). Other than that, enjoy your stay!!!
I would like to mention that this was my first time to use Airbnb and was not much sure of what to expect. The entire process was made very simple and easy for a 1st timer in NYC.
The room is at a very convenient and safe location. It took us half hour from Times square by subway which is good.
The room was as per the reviews I had read. Small, cozy and thin walls. However, its comfortable and if you are not expecting much this place is good. The bed could have been more comfortable. The other 2 guests which were sharing the house were too loud and inconsiderate but I wont hold it against Dom or the house.
Dom was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. The towels and sheets were clean and fresh. The kitchen and bathroom were well stalked.
In all, if you just need a comfy, cozy, quite place to crash in NY and are okay with little adjustments here and there I would suggest this place.
Dom made the entire stay seamless and was a great host. He speedily and graciously helped me out of a jam when I left my room key at the office and needed to get into the apartment.
The location and facilities are great, and just as described. Highly recommended.
The best elements about this place are it's location and it's price. We were only looking for a place to sleep in, and we spent most of our time outside visiting. The arrangement for the keys is very convenient and allowed us to check in very late.
That being said, the room is not as well furnished as the picture might suggest, it is very small, and the very thin walls allow for little privacy.
I live in New York but wanted to spend the night in Williamsburg to check out a different neighborhood. Dom was a great host. The room is on the smaller side but perfectly suited to what I needed and the overall apartment is in an amazing location and well-maintained--I saw a cleaner there who told me he comes every day.
Dom wasn't home when I arrived but the check-in instructions were extremely clear and his friend was there to meet me and give me the lay of the land. I had a chance to talk to Dom when he got home from work and he was super cool and friendly.
The room was exactly as described except Dom has replaced the black dresser with a yellow one, removed the plant, and installed some additional lighting. It's on the smaller side, especially if you're coming from outside New York, but there is lots of common space and if you're staying in Williamsburg you're probably not intending to spend all day cooped up in your room.
I was somewhat concerned about other reviews stating that the lock doesn't work since I had my laptop with me, but the lock on the room is in working order and works perfectly. It's on the smaller side but there is lots of common space and if you're staying in Williamsburg you're probably not intending to spend all day cooped up in your room.
Dom was also able to accommodate an early check-in (we could leave bags early) and let us leave bags in the common area until 9 pm at night.
The pros were the very cheap price, the great location/neighborhood and the detailed info given in advance. Nevertheless, we were very disappointed by the room as it was very tiny and quite different from the way it was depicted (no plants, different as well as missing and broken furniture which was only fixed shortly before we left the apartment). Overall the place wasn't that clean. Moreover, we could hear everything through the thin walls and the mattress was very uncomfortale so we couldn't sleep that well at times. However if you're only looking for a low budget accomodation and don't care too much about the room itself, this place would be an option.
