I live in this apartment, and host travelers like yourself in the spare rooms. This is the perfect spot for those on a budget, who still want to stay in one of the best neighborhoods in NYC. Hotels in this area typically run from $250-500 per night. From here you'll have easy access to the L and J/M/Z subway stops to get you anywhere in the city.
Be aware that many Airbnb listings which claim to be in Williamsburg, are NOT actually in the neighborhood. This place is in a prime Williamsburg location right off of Bedford Avenue, which is the bustling main street that runs through the neighborhood.
I host guests in 3 of the rooms in this apartment, so it's similar to a hostel environment (except that you get your own room!) where you'll have the opportunity to meet and interact with other travelers. The apartment is on the first floor of the building, and includes access to an open outdoor space. The room is small, but spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 people. The bathroom is shared. The area is very safe, and the apartment has never had a problem with rodents, roaches, or bedbugs.
Williamsburg is the artistic and cultural heart of Brooklyn, with some of the best music and nightlife in NYC. Many would agree with me that this is the best neighborhood in the entire city. There are TONS of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutique stores, music venues, and everything else you can possibly imagine close by. When you check in, there'll be a list of some of my favorite spots in the neighborhood waiting for you on your bed.
You'll be within walking distance to the Bedford L & the Marcy JMZ subway stops, from which the entire city will be easily accessible. For subway & bus directions anywhere in the city, I recommend the website & app HopStop.
I always provide a clean room, with fresh sheets and towels for every guest. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any question or if there's anything I can help you with.
The location was perfect, very near lots of food options and coffee and about 6 blocks to the subway. Dom's place was very clean and he had towels and clean bedding. The room was a bit stuffy and there were no hand towels or paper towels in the kitchen or bathroom which would have been useful. Be sure to ask Dom to explain the bedroom door lock system (don't lock the door nob). Street parking was not an issue. Overall it was a good stay.
Very nice stay, Dom helped me when I needed help. Localisation is also very convenient - not far from the centre. Recommended!!
I spent 9 nights at Dom´s place. It´s a great spot, very close to the subway and great places in Williamsburg.
The room is small but clean and fonctionnal, whitout an external window and the walls are a little thin.
Dom is a great host.
Easy to check in and to check out.
- We were met by a friend of Dom's at a pre-arranged time. He was very friendly and helpful, showed us how to get in and out, and answered our questions.
- The location is great! Perfect for getting a residential experience of Williamsburg. About a 10 minute walk to the L or J lines.
- The details are as advertised. Private room. Shared bathroom, kitchen, seating area. Linens and towels provided.
- The building and room are secure.
- Good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower.
Things to be aware of:
- Squeakiest. Bed. Ever. There are beds that squeak a normal amount, and then there are beds that scream at you if you twitch a muscle in your sleep. This bed would be one of the latter kind. We did not get a very restful night of sleep.
- There is some kind of allergen in the room. Not sure if it's a mold/mildew thing or what, but both of us got irritated eyes and sniffles whenever we were in the room.
- The linens, while clean, are very old with worn-out elastic, and there is no mattress pad. You will undoubtedly wake up lying on a bare mattress.
- We did not hear much street noise, but the walls between other rooms and apartments are very thin. You'll hear your neighbors' conversations. And in the case of one night, their rehearsal of an avant-garde keyboard performance.
In all, it was adequate for being a "budget" room. But a few minor improvements would make it a much better experience.
In order to provide a better experience for guests, I have bought a brand new mattress and box spring for this room, as well as new sheets. At Katherine's request, I have also washed the wall hangings and deep cleaned the room. However, I don't believe that her allergies had anything to do with the room, as I've had over a hundred guests stay here, and no one has ever had this issue before.
In order to get a more accurate representation of this space, please read my other reviews (almost all of which are very positive). Some people are just very negative and impossible to please. If you are one of these people, please book elsewhere. Otherwise, I look forward to hosting you!!! :)
it was our first airbnb experience at dom`s place and we were very happy with it! perfectly located, cool surrounding (we miss OSLO breakfast coffee and many other nice places!) everything was exactly as described by dom. unfortunately we did not meet dom very often and did not have the chance to talk with him very personal. but he and his friends S & J were always very helpful when we had a trouble or a question. we can highly recommend dom`s place for a great new york experience! thnx dom!
This was a great cheap place to stay, in a cool neighbourhood. The room itself was a bit basic but totally fine for what we needed. Also it was pretty close to the subway, which was super helpful. Communication from Dom was great, thanks!
Came in very late, around 1 am in the morning. Dom stayed up late to let me in. It is not too far a walk from the subway station if you know which way to go. I got lost, fortunately the host texted me the location to use (website hidden) maps to navigate. The room is quite basic. The bathroom was the usual quality you find in NYC apartments. In summary, if you want something affordable that's accessible to Brooklyn and NYC, this would be the place.
Dom was a great host and the room and accommodations where perfect for my travel needs. If you're looking for a clean room in a great artsy Brooklyn neighborhood, I would definitely recommend Dom's place!
Cheap and Cheerful. Dom was lovely, and had a really handy local guide that i used to great success. Highly recommended.
