About this listing
Feel right at home in this spacious 1 bedroom, 1 bath, toilet, 1 study, 1 living area with open kitchen & dining table.
The apartment is located in inner-Paris in the 10th arrondisement (view bottom for neighbourhood description). There is so no such thing as the center of Paris or a single downtown area. There are 20 arrondisements of Paris and each has their own city hall, schools, restuarants, cafes, grocery stores etc.
Technically on the map and for administration purposes, the center of Paris is the main City Hall a.k.a Hotel De Ville (as shown on (website hidden) maps) located in the 4th arrondisement. It is a 25 minute walk or 2km away from my place.
In my apartment, enjoy a fully equipped state of the art kitchen with large fridge and freezer, smart dishwasher and convenient washer/dryer. All very environmentally friendly and quiet appliances. Oven, microwave and grill. Induction stove stop that cooks food quickly and efficiently. Tea/water boiler, toaster & nespresso coffee machine. Bring your own favorite blend capsules!
Sink into heaven with a double bed by Simmons that is the same model as W hotel beds for a truly blissful sleep. There is also a convertible sofabed for those that need it.
All towels, pillows, bedsheets supplied free of charge.
A huge walk in shower room with an oversized rain shower head, 6 body jets and 1 removable hand shower for a true spa-like experience. State of the art towel dryer for warm toasty towels each time. Hair dryer provided. Full length mirror.
Apartment is equipped with all necessary cooking items, quality pots & pans, dishes and cutlery. Free wifi, TV with over 100 international channels (BBC, CNN), plus free unlimited international phonecalls. Secured access: security code and interphone.
This is the most trending area of Paris for living, going out & eating. It is a safe & friendly neighbourhood day and night filled with lots of authentic local activity & local prices.
Located close to all amenities, grocery stores, banks and a pharmacy open even on Sundays until evening.
My neighbourhood is known as the Village of Saint-Martin, Marché Saint-Martin being the landmark, and also famously called the theatre district (Théâtre du Splendid, Théâtre de la Renaissance, Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin, Théâtre Comedia and Le Brady), home of 2 of the largest advertising firms in France, an abundant number of restaurants, cafes and brasseries, and our little community of Afro-hair dressers and nail salons nestled between history and our very beautiful city hall. We neighbour the Canal Saint-Martin, the Marais, Republique, and the 9th arrondissement.
There are many museums within walking distance. Musée de L'évantail - a local french favorite with gorgeous construction, Arts&Metier Museum - with their lovely outdoor café terrasse and zen food, opposite local park, great for kids!
You will be spoiled for entertainment choice. Visit the Maison de l'Architecture with it's amusing pebble covered outdoor Restaurant bar café + live music in evenings and sunday brunch (only summers). Hit some of Paris' best Jazz and live acts at the famous 'Morning Live'. Sit down in one of the trendy café bars and 'people watch' the new hip scene that has taken Paris.
A few meters around the corner from the apartment, you can enjoy our cute clean local indoor food market Marché Saint-Martin filled with farm counter eats, award winning chef at Au Comptoir de Brice, Allen's Food Market and more (french, italian, moroccan and delicacy shops), organic foods, the best cheeses, butchers, fresh daily fish selections, flowers and carefully selected fruits & vegetables from around the region. A great place to stock up the fridge with high quality french delicacies to eat or take home for yourself & offer as gifts!
Enjoy many other cute delicacy shops in the area, bakeries, my favorite "can't go wrong with anything" wine shop, and if you miss home, a global food store as well as an English/American food shop are foot steps away.
You will be 10 minutes walking to the Marais, Georges Pompidou Center and 5 minutes from Canal Saint Martin. This is another neighbourhood of great eats, shops and parks or just grab a bottle of wine from our local speciality wine shop by the apartment and seat yourself among the other Parisians on the Canal and take in the city.
Their are many affordable top rated restaurants, cafés, quiet retreats and terasses that ooze local fair and taste buds! You will be given a complimentary area guide of our top rated places for food, drink and entertainment musts in the area.
You may very well stay in your area and feel like it was enough for your visit to see Paris, but if you shall venture off to visit the other beautiful places in Paris, your location makes it easy. You are conveniently surrounded by subway stations, bus stops and train services.
The closest metro is 2 minutes walk away. Direct metro/subway lines: # 4, 8, 9, 5 are less than 5 minutes (with 7, 11 & 3 all 5-10 minutes minutes walking).

What a lovely host Matt was! Not only was communication good before our visit, but we had several restaurant questions during the stay which Matt fielded quickly and excellently. Twice he steered us to two fantastic restaurants. The booklet in the house is super helpful and informative. Also, there had been an unfortunate snafu with the shower before our arrival, making it so that only the overhead portion worked. Matt sent an email apologizing for the issue and his inability to fix it before our arrival, and he refunded us one night of our visit as a gesture of good will. He was proactive and extremely gracious in this regard.
The kitchen does seem well stocked, as others have said, but we ended up eating all our meals out and about, many in the vibrant and fun neighborhoods surrounding the flat. There was plenty to do and see right outside the door and getting anywhere in Paris on foot or by metro was simple from this location.
The apartment is a three floor walk-up on a spiral staircase. One of the nice things Matt did was double-check with us about this before our booking to be sure we were aware and okay with that. It was no problem at all and, frankly, being on the 3rd floor was very helpful in terms of noise and air circulation. It was hot when we were there, but with all the windows open and a fan in the bedroom, we were quite comfortable. The bed, by the way, is extremely comfortable which, for us, is a important part of any stay. It is a double, though, not a queen, so take note. We found it mostly very quiet. There was one night when an argument broke out in the street. Luckily, after this had gone on for some time, someone else in the building who is proficient in French hollered out the window at them, threatening to call the police, and they moved along. This is just typical city activity and has nothing to do with how well placed and generally quiet this location is.
I do think the flat could have been a bit cleaner upon arrival. The bathroom shower could have benefited with a more thorough scrubbing, and we did find a few dishes and a cutting board that needed to be rewashed. Additionally, more room left in the closet for hanging clothing would have been appreciated, but we made do. It was a very comfortable and well appointed flat that we have no hesitation in recommending to others.
We really enjoyed our stay with Matt. The unit has had many upgrades (e.g., kitchen, shower, etc.) which we really enjoyed. The unit was set up well for our every need. The location was great - with easy metro access. The windows allowed for a glorious breeze. Even though the unit faces a street, the bedroom is in the interior of the building making it very quiet for sleeping. It was perfect for our stay in every way. We recommend it highly.
Lovely apartment! Perfect space to come "home" to after a long day of wandering through Paris. The neighborhood is colorful and lively, and there's easy access to public transportation. Paula, who met us at the apartment, was friendly, and the booklet that they left for us (map, restaurant recommendations, neighborhood information) was comprehensive and super helpful!
This was our first Airbnb experience. We were greeted by Paula since Matt was overseas.
Paula was quite helpful and gave us some information about the apartment. There is also a manual which contains detailed info on the local area and restaurants.
The apartment is located next to supermarkets and the local fresh food market that has incredible cheese selection and fruits. The strawberries were the best.
It is close to metro lines that take you into central Paris in 10 mins.
The apartment itself is a decent size with fully equipped kitchen. The bed is also quite comfortable.
We slept quite well the first few nights. The last couple of nights was not that great. The upstairs neighbour must have returned from a trip and there was constant moving of furniture or noise from upstairs. We found it ironic that one of the rules stated to be considerate and limit the noise in the stairwell while we did not find this was reciprocated by the neighbours within the building.
The kitchen could use some tea towels and the bathroom needs a good clean but other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Very happy that you enjoyed your stay and the neighbourhood. It is very rare to hear any neighbours' activities although it can occasionally happen in any building. In the event that you do, it only takes a word to make them aware of it. Or if you'd prefer, you can ask me and I will do so. Otherwise, thanks for your comments and you're welcome to come back to stay again.
I had good communication from Matt leading right up to my arrival. He even arranged an earlier check in time for me which was a huge help. We were greeted by Paula in the apartment and she gave us an orientation of the place. The apartment was cozy and comfortable. The neighborhood was safe and in a close and easy location to the train station, hop on hop off bus pick up, and metro. A bike rental station was even located right outside the door and we used bikes several times for very easy and fun access to all the landmark locations in Paris. We loved this place and would gladly use it again or recommend it.
I stayed in Matt's apartment for 3 weeks and absolutely loved it. Great location, near everything. The flat was fully stocked, and I was pleasantly surprised to find both a dishwasher and washer/dryer. It was clean, and exactly as described, would definitely recommend and stay again. Merci beaucoup!
Great communication with Matt before we arrived, and he/Paula (manager of the property) were really flexible when we were due to arrive early, and when we ended up being late due to delays.
Apartment as shown in the photos. Great location - felt safe walking around, very quiet at night, and lots of shops/supermarkets to choose from within a few minutes walk. Useful booklet filled with local information in the flat (an amusing read too!)
Kitchen well kitted out - the only (minor) negative is that the pots/pans aren't great, everything sticks to them, but a very minor gripe as I say, just something to be aware of if meal-planning etc.
We will be back, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others.
