I stayed with my girlfriend at Makena's place for about 3 weeks. We chose it because of the garden and the Karen location so that she could explore while I was out on business.
We had a very nice experience, Chichi was a very gracious host, her daughter was a lot of fun and the staff very helpful. Just great people all around.
The house is a bit older and has some small inconveniences (like a steel roof which gets noisy in the rain, and a less-than-great water heater), but nothing to really worry about. The garden is amazing, especially when the weather is nice.
The house is literally around the corner from one of Nairobi's best restaurants, and a shopping mall, dukas and a few good bars are all in walking distance.
For now there is only one road linking Karen to the rest of town so expect to spend a fair bit of time in traffic if you plan to be in the city.

I am a performing artiste and a TV set designer. I am a mother of a 5 year old girl. I am a Christian and I love life.
My favourite travel destination Diani Beach (Kenyan coast)... I have lived in Sydney and I loved it, I love Paris too!
I am a gracious host and I enjoy meeting new people. I am however not overly chatty, so I will give you your space; as I enjoy mine. Unfortunately, if I am on a tv shoot I tend to work very long hours and so you will hardly see me. I do however have my house maid who lives with me and she will be the one to welcome you, make sure you are comfortable and make your breakfasts.
I like to read, I am not big on tv, we do not even have one in the house. I love music, long walks, gardens and nature and a good glass of wine :-)
I believe, life is what you make it. It is a choice.
