I live in this apartment, and host travelers like yourself in the spare rooms. This is the perfect spot for those on a budget, who still want to stay in one of the best neighborhoods in NYC. Hotels in this area typically run from $250-$500 per night. From here you'll have easy access to the L and J/M/Z subway stops to get you anywhere in the city.
Be aware that many Airbnb listings which claim to be in Williamsburg, are NOT actually in the neighborhood. This place is in a prime Williamsburg location right off of Bedford Avenue, which is the bustling main street that runs through the neighborhood.
I host guests in 3 of the rooms in this apartment, so it's similar to a hostel environment (except that you get your own room!) where you'll have the opportunity to meet and interact with other travelers. The apartment is on the first floor of the building, and includes access to an open outdoor space. The room is small, but spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 people. The area is very safe, and the apartment has never had a problem with rodents, roaches, or bedbugs.
Williamsburg is the artistic and cultural heart of Brooklyn, with some of the best music and nightlife in NYC. Many would agree with me that this is the best neighborhood in the entire city. There are TONS of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutique stores, music venues, and everything else you can possibly imagine close by. When you check in, there'll be a list of some of my favorite spots in the neighborhood waiting for you on your bed.
You'll be within walking distance to the Bedford L & the Marcy JMZ subway stops, from which the entire city will be easily accessible. For subway & bus directions anywhere in the city, I recommend the website & app HopStop.
I always provide a clean room, with fresh sheets and towels for every guest. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any question or if there's anything I can help you with.
It does what it says on the tin! This is a budget room in an amazing area. Dom was great and very helpful (he did provide me with an hair dried thay saved me!). I would totally recommend his place. As other guests have written there are also kitchen facilities available, should you need them. Thank you Dom!
I enjoyed my stay at Dom's place, and I wouldn't mind staying there again. His place is also near to many cool shops and bars, so it was fun to be in the mix of all those things.
This place was great! In the perfect spot in wburg! Close to all public transit with great bars/ restaurants right around the corner. Checking in and out was stress free and the apartment was easy to navigate. Just make sure to ask how the keys work to because it's a little tricky!
Dom's apartment is ideally located: in Brooklyn's coolest neighborhood, close to shops, cafés, restaurants, subway stops, etc.
I arrived earlier than planned and Dom was nice enough to let me stop by and drop my luggage. He also welcomed my friend who arrived later, so he made himself available.
A downside worth mentioning is that the walls are very thin, and there are three rented rooms + Dom's room, which means that people will go in and out often, use the kitchen, the bathroom etc, so if you are a light sleeper this could bother you.
Otherwise, if you are on a budget and you want to experience Brooklyn, stay with Dom!
Dom is good host, the place is very nice and confortable, I suggest this location because it easy to arrive and do chek-in also if you arrive late in the night!!! I suggest it!!!
Dom’s house is in a fantastic location in Williamsburg, close to cafes, restaurants and shops. It must not be assumed though that Dom’s house is perfectly acceptable for human inhabitation.
We didn't meet Dom for the first few days of our stay as he was away. In his absence we would quickly take any chance we could to use the 1 combined bathroom/toilet which was becoming a cesspool of dirt, mould and loose hair created by the 6-8 people sharing it.
The piece of material masquerading as a bottom sheet didn't cover the popping, squeaking and shaking bed and crept off the mattress throughout the night. The bed was covered with a doona that could only be described as having somewhat of an 'arsey' smell.
I could just about forgive these things under the ‘laws of budget accommodation’ if it weren't for the fact that on the last night of our stay, Dom and his high school musical friend laughed and talked in an increasing volume beyond midnight about topics easily heard through the paper thin walls. They're return at 6am was no quieter and equally as audible through the makeshift walls. Our frustration for the lack of respect given by our host was echoed by our neighbour’s request for them to be quiet. The continued noise could be attributed to a misunderstanding of the 3 words or a clear disregard for guests. I suggest the latter.
My advice for Dom would be to either live in your house with your substandard living conditions, inviting loud guests over at your leisure OR run an AirBnb. Either way, you should not do both.
I would not recommend staying in Doms house.
On a Friday night in a shared apartment, there will be people talking in the common areas until around midnight. That's not "disrespect"--that's shared living in New York. If you want (email hidden) on a weekend night, then pay $200+ for a hotel here.
I can't comment on the cleanliness of the apartment while I was away. I left a friend in charge and he may have let things slip, which is good to know for when I leave town in the future.
Dom was very helpful and the room was great. Would definitely stay here again!
Dom is a great host. Very kind and responsive. The room was clean and as advertised. A good cheap place in a convenient neighborhood with great food.
Overall we had a really nice stay at Dom's place, great value and great location. Dom was a great host and very accommodating. We came to New York when it was absolutely freezing and this place was great to come back to after walking around Williamsburg and Manhattan in the cold. One minor thing is the paper thin walls which may put people who like their privacy off. Again, loved it and would definitely stay again.
This economy apartment is very well located and provides easy access to public transportation, but is on the first floor. There are several bedrooms, and there will probably be several guests, so be prepared to share the shower/bathroom and for noise. Also, there are no individual keys to the rooms in the apartment, so I would not advise keeping valuables anywhere near this place.
While Dom and his friends make a sincere effort to make the stay efficient, don't expect to meet anyone in person, you are on your own.
Overall, the stay was satisfactory, it met our needs, but it didn't reach much beyond a crash pad, and certainly was not nearly as nice as any of the other airbnb places I have visited, but perhaps that is typical of NYC.
Overall, stay here if you want cheap accommodations in a great neighborhood.
