We spent some beautiful day in Brussels at Dominiques appartment. The area and all about the flat is very comfortable and there was nothing to critizise so I just want to say thanks to Dominique.
Location, Location, Location! We couldn't have asked for a better location in Brussels. Dominique's apartment was very clean and spacious. My boyfriend and I were received by Ludwig. He kindly showed us and explained different features on the apartment. Unlike previous reviews, we did not have any issues with the shower or the neighbors. Also, the bed was pretty comfortable and the sheets were clean. Our stay was for five days (including the weekend). Although Dominique's restaurant is located on the first floor, we did not have any issues with street noise. The metro is located right outside of her apartment. Also, there is a wide selection of restaurants nearby to choose from. There is a supermarket 5 minutes away, as well as, a great currency exchange place. The Grand Place, the Mannequin Pis and chocolate shops are between 5-10 mins away on foot. My only issue was not able to connect to the WiFi with the password provided, but I was able to connect by walking next door to Exki's. We had a chance to meet Dominique on our last night in town. She was very pleasant and very responsive to all of our questions.
Very cute apartment! Perfect location!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and there were no issues. Dominique even provided us with orange juice when we arrived. There was a bit of noise from the stairwell at night but it was really not enough to ruin our stay. We would gladly stay again next time we go to Brussels.
Overall we had a good stay.
Very nice and responsive host (Dominique)
Bedroom in back of apartment, away from street noise
Stocked kitchen with utensils and dishes
Apartment temperature (adequately warm indoors during Feb)
Unusable internet (and television was not super reliable either)
Creaky apartment at night (e.g., dripping water sound, loud when neighbors used stairs)
Shower temperature could not be adjust in shower (only at the hot water tank located in the kitchen)
Laundry facilities are located in building (but not directly in apartment unit)
Dominique´s Apartment is right in the heart of Brussels, surrounded by exquisit Bars and Restaurants (including her Chat Noir, where you most likely meet locals). The Apartment is a mixture between French fin de siecle-Style and contemporary furniture. Including Wifi connection all is in fair and proper condition. Cooking hard ware is provided. The fire place is fueled by gas, but very cosy. From the breakfast table you can see others on the first floor of "Exky" drinking coffee or look on the Street in front of the Bourse. Dominique is a nice and helpful Person. We were very content and can recommend that place without hesitating.
Don’t be fooled, this apartment is not like its description. My wife and I booked a weekend in Brussels and this apartment appeared just what we wanted. We have used airbnb with friends in the past and always had a fantastic experience. Unfortunately it was not the case for our first independent booking. Dominique's flat has a strong musty smell and the bed clothes and towels felt unclean, in fact the place just generally felt grubby. Later, in the middle of the night (this also happened the following night) there was a lot of noise with people coming and going to the other flats above. The following morning when my wife was in the shower I went out to get us some coffee but when I returned to the flat, I was stunned to see someone outside the flat door screaming abuse at my wife through the door - when I asked what the problem was he said that the restaurant beneath the flat, which Dominique also owns, was being flooded by the shower. My wife was not able to finish her shower and I did not get one at all that day. We were later told that Dominique would be back at midday and the shower would be fixed - it wasn't and Dominique didn't make her appearance either! The following morning the same thing happened with the shower again but Dominique suddenly appeared and said that the problem had just occurred with the couple who stayed before us and she didn't have time to repair it - this was untrue because someone had flagged this up in previous reviews on airbnb but we just thought that it would’ve been repaired by the time we arrived. On the plus side, the flat is very central and convenient for bars and restaurants. However overall this experience would’ve put us off airbnb if it had been our first trip but thankfully, we have had great experiences in the past. I would not recommend this flat to anyone, in our opinion it is completely overpriced (we paid a total of £171 for two nights) and my wife should not have been terrified by someone shouting at her because of the complete incompetence of the owner.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The apartment is beautiful and quite spacious. The location is perfect- right in the heart of the city. The bed is comfortable, and since the bedroom is in the back of the apartment, it's quiet as well. We weren't bothered by street noise. The apartment has a nice kitchenette with fridge, stove, coffee pot, etc. The only complaint I have is that the shower room is quite small. Other than that, we had a lovely stay. Dominique owns the restaurant below, Le Chat Noir, which has such great food that we ate dinner there twice! I would definitely stay there again!
The location of this space cannot be beat. We were right in the city center with plenty of sites, restaurants, and shopping nearby. Our check in went smoothly, Dominique was waiting for us at the restaurant downstairs with the keys even though our train was delayed and we got a little turned around. The wifi is from the restaurant downstairs and is quite spotty. Sometimes it works okay and other times it is just unusable. We also had a few issues with the apartment needing a thorough cleaning and being in disrepair. The shower didn't drain, so I was left standing in water up to my ankles and rushing my shower so it didn't spill out. There is a hole in the bedroom floor that the bed frame was sitting in, making the bed sit crooked and quite awkward to sleep in until we moved it, even then we slept with the mattress on the floor. All that being said it is a beautiful, old apartment and in a great location. It suited our needs alright. With a little TLC it could be amazing, but as is it is not bad. I'd recommend it for the value and the location for short stays.
We had a wonderful stay! The location can't be beat. Easy to get to and Dominique was so easy to work with. We had the best meal of our trip at her restaurant, Le Chat Nior. The place is vintage, but chic. Perfect for the setting, every comfortable and everything you need.
I chose Dominique's flat for my first stay in Brussels because I was bringing by sister to celebrate her 70th birthday, and I wanted a place that would be in the city centre and would provide the comforts of home. I wasn't disappointed. The flat is charming, furnished tastefully and comfortably. 5 minutes walk from la Grande Place, 1 minute from a subway station, and 2 minutes from a very nice supermarket. My sister had the bedroom with the huge double bed, and I slept on the very comfortable fold-down bed in the living room. There is a fully equipped kitchen, with basics such as tea, coffee, water and orange juice. Other thoughtful extras included hairdryer, umbrellas, and even ear-plugs (the weekend revellers on Place de la Bourse can get noisy). We could control the heat from a gas fire, which made the flat lovely and cosy. Initial problems with the Wi-Fi and TV were quickly solved by Ludwig who was easily found in the Café downstairs. For a first-time visit to Brussels in the magical Christmas season it was perfect.
