Interaction with Guests
I live in the same building so I will be there almost all the time for any questions/help.
I go out almost daily though but I'll be reachable by phone.
The neighborhood is in the heart of Mohandessin, the street is quiet yet 2 min walk to Gamet el Dowal &/or Shooting club & all the restaurants & popular cafes are within walking distance.
Within the same street, there's a nursery, dry clean, laundry, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurant & cafe.
A great advantage is that we have 24 hrs security by the police, just because there's an embassy right in front of our building.
Taxis, buses & a metro station are all within walking distance.
Other Things to Note
This is a family building, please smile to everyone you meet up & down the stairs :)
Within the flat, it's all yours, please feel free!
+ very large apartment
+ 5 people can stay there easily
+ secure area
+ tv, heat, nice dining room
+ nice host, available, easy going
- very difficult to find the place with the address
- wifi so so
- old apartment not modern at all
Dina's place was enormous, suitable for a bunch of friends or family. Although the place was a bit old, it was very comfortable to live in.
Dina has been very responsible and willing to help. She took me to the market to show me around and spent time with me at a very local coffee shop. After discussing about places i wanted visit, she tried to arrange different itinerary and offers for me, which was deeply appreciated.
One downside of it is the price.
Listing description was accurate and the apartment was very nice with good value for the price. Neighborhood was safe, I didn't feel uncomfortable. Only bad thing was internet did not work. Dina was responsive and available and offered to let me use internet at her family's in the same building but I was out doing tourist things most of the day and didn't want to pester her family late at night! Overall great flat and highly recommended.
Dina is friendly, personable, and easy to connect with. She is organized and has lots of connections.
Her flat is large and well set up for families. It is quiet and safe (across the street from an embassy with permanent guards). There is no elevator, but the flat isonly on the third floor, so it wasn't a problem.
It is close to major streets, and modern shopping but not to the metro or the downtown, so you have to take taxis or busses to get to attractions and museums.
Her relatives live in the flats below you, and they are friendly and helpful. Things that were missing (like towels and toilet paper) were supplied quickly and cheerfully. They even made us some delicious food!
The flat was clean and not dusty, with the exception of the kitchen. Dina tried to arrange a second cleaning for the kitchen, but it wasn't great. Dina was out of the country at the time but I feel like, if she had been in Cairo, the kitchen would have been cleaned quickly and well. That was our only disappointment, and the only reason for less than 5 stars.
Dina was the perfect host. The apartment that I'd originally made a reservation for wasn't available, due to unforeseen circumstances, but she offered me an alternative option in the same building. She was extremely honest with her description of the new apartment, and generously offered it at a significant cost reduction. She lent me a phone with Egyptian SIM to use for the duration of my stay, and even invited me into her family home and offered me food for the annual Eid feast. The apartment was huge and as described. The location is a little far from a metro station, but other than that is was great.
What a pleasure it was dealing with Dina! A perfect host in every sense of the word. Good natured, helpful, generous and always with a beaming smile. The apartment is perfectly located, enjoying easy access to all of what Cairo had to offer either within walking distance or a short and cheap taxi ride. In shirt, delightful and commendable.
We are three italian friends who like to travel around the world and we liked to visit Cairo.
Because of some difficulties occurred to the flat I have reserved, Dina offered us another large flat and we accepted.
I have to say something about this flat.
At the arrival the flat had a problem (then fixed) with the water heater. No WiFi connection is provided. The second bathroom is provided without the relative water heater, so it was a problem for take shower inside. Also its toilet had something wrong, because the water flushed in didn't drain properly.
The tap of the kitchen doesn't spill hot water (because of the missing water heater).
In the main bathroom some water came from the lower part of the tube when we taken shower. But most important things to report is the dust we have found in many parts of the house, a couple of air condition units not working and one bathtowel and both sheets on the two beds not properly clean. For us it was a not very good surprise...anyway we washed those stuff into the provided washmachine.
In the flat You will find soap for kitchen stuff and washmachine, a really useful fan and a map of the shops available all around.
The area is quite good and just few minutes away from the central Midan el Tahrir and Egyptian museum...but You always have to breathe pollution coming from the main street (Gameat ed-dewal al-arabeya) located not far away from the flat.
Dina is a good host and a very kind person; very communicative and helpful, with quick replies at our questions. She also offered us to accompain to the airport with her car when se leave the flat.
I hope Dina will provide some upgrades to her flat for make it a perfect place to stay. Anyway I recommend Dina's flat to any person is looking for a value place.
A little advice to everybody: the water that comes from the taps in Cairo is not good to drink and is a bit smelly...so don't be upset for this noise. ;-)

I studied engineering & worked for multinationals for quite some time. I then took a decision to quit the 9 to 9 job to become my own boss. In less than a year, I had already started several things. I did some startups in the food & beverages business, the travel & tourism industry, I made little dresses for my nieces, I developed iPhone apps & I wrote a short story that got published in a book :D
My prime passion is travel. I have visited 20% of the world (a lot yet to go!). I believe in freedom & taking life simply because we are all guests on mother earth until our time comes, so let's make the best of that journey.
When I am a guest, I will respect your house rules. When you are my guest, I'll let you do whatever you feel like doing :)
