The space
The Lake House is our family's private vacation home which can hosts small groups of families and friends who would like to spend a quiet and relaxing weekend away from the city. We live 300 meters above sea level and breathe in the freshest mountain air from the surrounding forests and from the breeze of the Pacific Ocean only 22 km. away. We are surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees of the Caliraya Watershed which makes for a true nature experience.

Our home has been running entirely on solar power for the past 15 years and it has brought many challenging aspects of sustainable living. We have requested all guests to be extra mindful of their power and water consumption during their stay. We do not allow rice cookers, thermal jugs, hairdryers, curling irons, clothes iron, gaming consoles and any other appliance that will add to our current power output capacity.

We have two cabins that are located along hillsides and would require climbing between 50 to 72 garden steps depending on their location. All our bedrooms are fan-cooled and not air-conditioned. Daytime and nighttime temperatures are normally 4- 5 degrees cooler than Manila.

Our kitchen is equipped with basic cooking equipment and tools for conventional cooking methods and includes an outdoor area with a large gas grill and brick oven. We have indoor and outdoor dining areas and enough plates, cutlery and glasses for groups of up to 12 persons.

Our lakeside lounge features a spacious area overlooking Lake Caliraya with the imposing Mount Banahaw in the background. The adjacent room has a conference table, white board and smart TV which may be used for meetings. During very sunny days, this is the only room that may be air-conditioned to allow you some respite from the summer heat usually in March, April and May.

By the lawn is the recreational area where we have a bonfire pit, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, fishing gear, life-vests and other outdoor sports equipment.

Guest access
Our guests have access to all lake house facilities and common areas. A sign is placed in rooms and areas and on specific items that are off-limits to guests.

Other things to note
Solar Power:
In the evenings, power is stored in solar batteries that supply electricity for lights, power outlets and pumps that fill our water tanks. Therefore, kindly be extra mindful of your power and water consumption between 4 pm and 8 am so as not to inconvenience yourselves during your stay. If possible, schedule showers between 8 am and 4 pm to enable the sun to energize our batteries and allow our pumps to replenish our water tanks. Please report leaks in the showers, sink faucets and toilet tanks immediately.

Breakfast:
Our housekeepers will be ready to prepare your breakfast as early as 6 am and so breakfast is served between 7 am to 9 am. At 10 am, our kitchen and pantry will close to give our housekeepers enough time to clean and prepare for incoming guests.

Other meals:
While we will provide your breakfast, you will need to bring and cook your own food for all your other meals. The nearest wet market is in Lumban while the biggest supermarket is located in Pagsanjan which is 35 minutes away (10 minutes by boat and 25 minutes by car.) You may make your own arrangements with the boatman if you wish to have food supplies bought from the sari-sari stores across the lake or at the Lumban Market. But please be wary of the transportation costs as we do not have control or influence over these. Any unpaid boat trips and credit to third parties will be deducted from your security deposit.

Storing Food:
We can provide you a refrigerator to store your food as well as extra cooler boxes and cooler packs to keep your food and drinks cold but ice cubes are limited because we only make enough to ice the juices that we provide for our guests. Please bring your ice cubes if you anticipate the need to do so.
Please store your food immediately so that ants and flies are not attracted to the smell.

Eating areas:
You are most welcome to eat and drink in the dining areas, picnic tables, decks and recreation areas by the lawn and lakeside. However, we do not allow eating and drinking inside the cabins and in the living room and media room to prevent the invasion of ants, flies, mosquitoes and other insects.

Cleanliness and use of owners personal items:
Helping us maintain the overall cleanliness of our home by keeping the sofa covers, bed linen and towels clean and the kitchen and sports equipment complete and in working condition will help keep our rates to a minimum and enable us to continue sharing our home with you and other guests.

Keeping it Green:
We take from nature only what we need. Help mother nature in your own little way by sorting your trash and kitchen wastes into wet, dry and recyclable materials. Kindly dispose these in the proper bins and help in our efforts to minimize the impact of pollutants on the environment so we can maintain the beauty of the lake and the nature around it.

Neighborhood highlights

Our home is located in the most peaceful uninhabited part of Lake Caliraya and is only accessible by boat. The nearest barangay is two kilometers away on foot, so guests are advised to bring everything they need apart from the amenities described in our listing.
Lake Caliraya is a vast watershed and nature reserve 300 km above sea level. It is surrounded by lush forests which are full of birds and wildlife. Temperatures are normally cooler than Manila both during the day and night.
A short 10-15 min. boat ride away is an 18-hole golf course, a big water park and a windsurfing and kiteboarding school. A 10 min. walk from the parking area is a fishing village where children can learn to fish (catch and release) while more experienced anglers can enjoy game fishing.
